  1. Boy to me if you can get Brady to Eugene then that's a no brainer. I would love to see that happen.
  2. Couldn't agree more. Great post. I get people are disappointed with the tough losses but compared to this time last year it has been a big improvement. To me at least being a Duck means you take the good with bad and look toward the future. What makes getting to the mountaintop so sweet is having to go through the valley.
  3. Great comments from everyone on this thread. It's great to read different opinions. I will just say to those who are killing coach for the 4th down decisions is that you're right but it's not why Oregon lost those games. As others have pointed out the Ducks scored more than enough to win those games even by today's standard. The problem has always been the defense. That's where my disappointment falls. All year it's been a race to outscore their opponents with opposing players having career games. If the Ducks had an AVERAGE defense they would be 11-1 with the Georgia game being a lot closer. You want to give the coaches heat? Give it to them for that. As for an OC candidate. Maybe Joe Brady is available? He did pretty well at LSU.
  4. I'm not going to knock anyone who feels they're doing what's best for them. It's their life to live not ours. I don't see this being the last. I believe there is going to be change going into Year 2 as coach is going to bring in players to fit his vision. This is completely normal. We can all come up with a list of who probably won't stick around but I would just encourage fellow Duck fans to relax and let the process play out. The program will be just fine.
  5. Like everyone I thought the defense would improve and be somewhat dominant by now. Wasn't even close. Not sure if Lupoi is the right guy or not. And to be honest I missed on Nix and Thompson. I thought it would be reversed. Win wise I had them losing 2 or 3 but not losing to the Fuskies or the Beavs. Lanning for me had a better first season than I was expecting minus the 4th downs.
  6. Disappointing end to the reg season for sure. Another year of wondering what would of happened if our QB didn't get hurt. The defense never really improved the whole year, the Ducks lost to both their rivals when they shouldn't have and of course there were bad decisions from the coaching staff and now the OC has left the building. Seems pretty bleek right? Not from where I sit. We all knew that Lanning would go through some growing pains. The fact that this team was sniffing around the CFP is great sign that he was a great hire. Still believe that. Stop with the fire Lanning nonsense. And yes he was hyper aggressive but I would take that over the last 5 years of prevent offense from Mario everyday of the week even with the losses. He just needs to learn to pick his spots better. Would you rather be in South Florida or Eugene right now? To me if Oregon can improve the defensive side of the ball they will be lights out. That's what cost them the last 2 losses. If the defensive recruits stick I believe Lanning will get them there. In 2 years we will look back on this time and be reminded that it's always darkest before the dawn. As for Dilly, don't let the door hit you. I'm sure coach will find the right guy. Hang in there Duck fans! Great things are coming if we stay the course! Go Ducks!!
  7. Unbelievable. Just Unbelievable at this point. I knew there would be rough spots but losing to both your rivals in this fashion is just plain unacceptable. This team quit when they got up 3 scores, no other way to put it. The keep going for it on 4th downs is all on Lanning. He still hasn't learned
  8. I've said my peace about this topic on another Fishduck thread so I won't repeat it all again. But as a Black Oregonian who grew up in this State and has seen real racism in all forms this comment from Mr. Ray is insulting to me and my intelligence. This football game has nothing to do with social justice or feeling my life matters. It's just freaking game with a really cool name. I agree wholeheartedly. VIVA CIVIL WAR!!!!!
  9. Seriously, what did they expect ? We all tried to tell them. I just love the spin about how they just need to get the right players. You mean like an All Pro quarterback named Herbert? Does anyone know how many have players have decided to transfer so far? I haven't really heard anything.
  10. I don't usually like to label myself because I don't live my life like that. But in this case I will. I'm an African American who grew up in Salem during the 70's and 80's when there were hardly any minorities around. I know what racism is, been pulled over and followed around stores, I've had things yelled at me and friends houses I couldn't go into because my skin is brown. I've seen it all in this state. But my family, friends and other people I know who are minorities have never, ever had a problem with this football game being called the Civil War. We are smart enough to know that this game has nothing to do with American history. It's just a football game between the Ducks and the Beavs. That's it. Nothing more. Some may disagree and that's ok. But for me and mine this game should be still called the Civil War. I understand and appreciate folks who are trying to relate to the Black experience in this country but sometimes we as humans tend to take things to far.
  11. Good lord, I knew this would be bad so I didn't really watch at all. How'd this end up on ABC lol. I'm sure they were happy. The 2 times I watched was right after halftime and saw the team from South Florida had 8 total yards and then the safety. I don't think I've laughed that hard watching a football game. But I'm sure the spin will be he just doesn't have the right players. Yeah ok
  12. After the loss last week Coach Lanning said the coaches took their medicine from that game. I was wondering what that would mean for this game. Well we all found out! What a great performance by the defense and the coaches. I'll be honest and say I didn't see that coming at all. I've been waiting to see that all year. Coming off a tough loss this team and program took another step towards elite status and bounced backed in a game where the offense didn't carry them. Game ball to the coaches who heard the criticism, didn't whine or complain about the media or fans, looked in the mirror and went out and did something about it.
  13. I don't think it's time to go scorched earth on the defensive coaches yet. But obviously there needs to be changes in what they're doing. Making excuses and just saying it's the personnel ain't going to cut it at this level. It wasn't just this game that the receivers were WIDE open all game. What's concerning is there seems to be no adjustments going on. There has to be someone, somewhere who can figure this out. Still love Lanning and enjoying this season but this is where we start to see his leadership abilities. It's easy when things are going great. He talked about the coaches taking their medicine this week. We will see what that means on Saturday night.
  14. The offense did more than enough to put this game away IMHO. Yes there were errors but they were pretty dominant again. The issue for me was the defense or lack thereof. This side of the ball has been an issue for a few years now. Can anyone remember when Oregon had a consistent stout defense? How many games has Oregon lost because they couldn't get people off the field over the years? I said it last night but I don't think I've seen a Duck defense this bad in awhile. Yes Penix is good but man those receivers were WIDE open all night. It's not all on the D Line. I think the Ducks are one good D Coordinator from being elite. There has to be someone out there who can figure this out. I have to admit I thought the defense would be farther along by this time. Time to put this to bed and get ready for Utah.
  15. Totally agree Charles. It sucks to lose especially to the team up north but Lanning and crew will learn from this. I'll ride and die with this program forever. It's been a great season, let's and win the Pac and head to Pasadena! Go Ducks!!
  16. Well to be honest he's going to have to take some heat for that. Lot of questionable decisions by him and his staff tonight. First time we've seen some inexperience since Georgia. They'll learn from this and be better. My question is if you don't have any confidence in your backup to move the ball. Why not try Butters out?
  17. It'll be interesting to see how the team reacts to this next week against Utah.
  18. Not understanding that last long drive. It reminded me of Mario ball. I get trying to run the clock but if they throw a little they score easy and go up 2 scores. The coaches out thought themselves this whole game. Man, and that secondary is atrocious. I don't think I've seen it this bad.
  19. Great column to get this day started! Well done!!! If there's anyone out there who doesn't get what this rivalry is all about, they need to read this. That's not even the half of it. "The Trojans are loathsome, the Bruins are pathetic, but the Huskies are the essence of soullessness, devoid of character, wholly lacking in discernment and common sense, and they need to be constantly treated like the pariahs that they are" Exactly. Nothing more needs to be said. And yes, Ted Bundy was a Fusky. Let's go Ducks!!!
  20. Never want to see anyone get injured like that. Best wishes to the young man
  21. The hits just keep on coming!! That dude is getting lit up on Twitter. Rightfully so. This is approaching Slick Willie level of flop quicker than I expected. I figured 3 to 4 years before they figured it out but it maybe sooner.
  22. Idk, I guess I'm on the side of some other Duck fans who think these are cool but maybe it's time for some fresh new looks. They've had these for awhile now. Maybe new era, new unis? These remind me of the coach in South Florida. As long as the kids still dig them I guess. Who cares as long as they win!
  23. God, I really hate that school and it's fans. Younger Ducks might not get it because Oregon has been so dominant lately but everyone from my generation and those that came before know all too well.
  24. Ahh, my favorite week of the season. Fusky week. Hate week. Only thing that matters is beating that school up north. CFP, rankings, realignment, Heisman talk, Wilner's obvious anti Duck bias. All that can wait until next week. I've been a Duck for almost 40 years now. There is nothing sweeter than beating the puppies and their arrogant fans who are still living in the past. My birthday is on Saturday. I'm turning 50. The best present I can get is Coach Lanning and his team laying an absolute beat down on that team. Let's go Ducks!!!
  25. What a hilarious thread! The only thing better than watching that beat down and seeing Mario's facial expressions was seeing Tre Benson, a guy who didn't sniff the field under Mario, run all over them. I'm really happy for the kid. Look, I know some fellow Duck fans want us to move on. We should be adults and be happy that we got Coach Lanning. Mario's a good dude who recruited well for the Ducks, won some games then went home. I get all that. But no freaking way I'm letting it go. Is it petty? Absolutely. Childish? Probably but I don't care. This is what karma looks like. This is what happens when you quit on your team mid season and get in your emotions because the fans criticized your strategy. This is what happens when you are apart of a process that left Manny Diaz hanging in the wind while you negotiated with boosters. You think Manny enjoyed that game? So yes, every time a coach leaves because he thinks he can do better than Oregon and face plants I'm going to be on here laughing at them. I don't care if it's Frost, Kelly, Brooks, Slick Willie, Cristobal or whoever. Like a lot people are saying "It's not the coaches who make Oregon, it's Oregon who makes the coaches" Go Ducks! Beat the Fuskies!
