Charles Fischer Author Administrator No. 6 Share Posted July 3, 2023 Da’Jaun Riggs, a Rivals 3-Star is up for his verbal today at about 11:30 AM PST, and this is a classic example of our coaches getting excited about a player when the rating services are meh about him. Coach Locklyn wants this guy, and considering the talent he has recruited to the running back room? I think we should pay heed to him. Remember that Noah Whittington was a 2-Star receiver originally at Western Kentucky when Locklyn brought him in there. Jon Joseph Moderator No. 8 Share Posted July 4, 2023 Hats off to DL and his staff who are bringing lots of talent to Oregon. Below is a ranking of Pac-12 recruiting over the recent years. Utah stands out as doing the most with the least while SC's recruiting success has not translated to the field of play. Interesting to see how many of the top-drawer recruits did not pan out at a given school and how many did not finish their college career at the original school to which they committed. Which Pac-12 school has dominated recruiting the most since 2010? DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM When it comes to recruiting in the Pac-12, USC has dominated the past 15 years. The race for second place is incredibly tight, though.

Seems to be short-sighted given that Arizona will struggle to get into a lower tier bowl at best and Oregon would give him the best development opportunities (and display them on bigger stages). Pennsylvania Duck Moderator No. 16 Share Posted July 6, 2023 Transfer portal era takes minor sting out of 5-star recruit runner-up finishes Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are not unfamiliar with this feeling, unfortunately. Over the past 8-12 months, there have been a number of times where a highly-rated 5-star prospect flirted with the idea of committing to Oregon, and ended up choosing to go elsewhere. That’s what happened on Thursday afternoon when 5-star EDGE Elijah Rushing — the No. 8 player in the 2024 class — announced that he would commit to the hometown Arizona Wildcats, rather than the Oregon Ducks. For months, Rushing was thought to be a virtual lock to join Lanning and come to Eugene, but over the past 48 hours, something flipped, and he ended up staying close to home. What happened? Who knows, ultimately? Does it matter? Not really. The end result is the same: Oregon is left sitting as a silver medalist, rather than a gold medalist. However, in today’s era of college football, just because you missed out on a player once doesn’t mean that an opportunity to recruit him and sign him won’t present itself again. Division Street isn't going to over pay or get into a bidding war. Especially not in July. Doesn't mean recruiting is over just yet. It's not even over after they've signed with the portal these days. We may just have to wait and see here to see if Lanning can win him over by signing day. Log Haulin No. 18 Share Posted July 6, 2023 Good luck to the kid. Can't really blame him. Rushing would have been a great addition. Ducks need an elite pass rusher. DL will need to double down on his efforts there. Not over till the inks dry but I think Ducks and Lanning move on. Ducks are stacked in the trenches, both sides of the ball, for 23'. A ton of movement will take place between now and 24'. Again, good luck young man
Augduck No. 19 Share Posted July 6, 2023 I did not watch his commitment but a friend of mine did and said Rushing did not look super happy during the announcement. Said he sort of had a nondescript expression but that both parents looked very happy. My friends 'arm chair' opinion was that Mom and Dad might have tipped the scales by playing the closer to home card. Just an observation. No special insights.

fred flintstone No. 21 Share Posted July 7, 2023 The story is that Rushing is getting one million per year for his services from Arizona. The Ducks appear set at DE for the next year or two anyway. Not a big deal. I'd be much more concerned if Baker goes any place else......doubt he will. I'd also be more interested in a nose tackle type that eats centers for dinner.
