Ol' Crazy-Eyes has a learning curve...

 

Flowe is "going to have to work through making sure that his passion doesn’t get in the way of his technique and responsibilities as a player."  In other words: Play fast, but don't play hurried; play aggressive, but never step outside of the responsibilities as a linebacker."

 

Nansen said at the start of training camp that reining Flowe to play within his assignment on a play-by-play basis is "an everyday battle for me, man." 

 

"I'm trying to build some confidence in the kid and (make him) really understand that you can be more productive when you're under control," Nansen said. "It's an everyday reminder for him."

It's amazing how such a promising athlete can't get it together on the field.

 

At this point I'd venture to guess he might not get drafted at all. He needs to be an all star on Arizona's defense... But if he can't play within his duties that won't happen. 

 

The play right after that picture was taken that Charles posted... Flowe was completely out of alignment and he did show off his athleticism and chased the quarterback downs dn out of bounds but not before de Laura picked up the needed yards. 

Flowe is like an insane drummer that smashes the cymbals and does crazy fills all around the drum kit, doing everything but actually keeping a steady beat.

Flowe suffered a HUGE setback in his first two years at Oregon. 

 

Their true freshmen year, while Sewell was showing great promise, but overrunning a lot of plays (making a bunch of freshman mistakes), Flowe was sitting on the sideline all year, injured in the first game.

 

Their true sophomore year, while Sewell had mostly learned his lesson the year before and was having a breakout performance, Flowe was again sitting on the sideline all year, injured in the first game.

 

In their true Junior year, while Sewell was cementing his draft stock, Flowe finally could play all year, but was making all the stupid freshman mistakes that Sewell did in his freshman year.

 

Learn from your mistakes, settle down, and have a great year at Arizona... And thank you for investing three years of your life at Oregon. Hopefully, it helped you grow.

The other side of things.... This is Flowe's fourth fall camp and he has had three spring camps. He completed all those camps and though they'll not make up for game exoirence he has had coaches work with him and he still hasn't settled down into his assignments? 

 

He has also had three years of team meetings.

 

Mentally he should be a lot further along than he his from the sound of it. Sure he hasn't had the execution and physical reps as much as a health player his age ... But he should have had plenty of mental reps to not be making the same level of freshman mistakes. 

 

Freshman mistakes are usually all mental. With wrong assignments and a lack of the grasp of the playboon being the prime culprits. All things Flowe has struggled with but usually as freshman learn the mental game those mistakes go away. That doesn't seem to be the case. 

Looks like he would be a perfect fit at SC.

 

I love the Matador Defense. See it in the nba quite often. 🤣🤣🤣

Reminds of Jason Williams, a WR the Ducks had in the early 2000's maybe?

 

He was out of central casting for an All-Star WR....size, speed, routes, etc.  But he was cursed with hands of stone.

 

Flowe is a prototype LB but can't diagnose a play for the life of him....bad angles, easily faked, prone to spastic penalties.

Vinnie Vincent on guitar also comes to mind..... incredble technique... incredilbe speed.... always out of key and always way off of timing... 😂

No maybe about it. Our EYES were right.

I know who was wrong....the recruiting services and their regional experts.  

 

Of course, those MENSA cases evaluate on "Sunday" talent, so maybe Flowe will be starting for the Packers in 3 years?

 

 

Nope.  He has the speed and size, but there are other components that make a great player.
