I'm not trying to be critical, but I thought Dillon Gabriel was a little off in the game. Many of his throws were a little late or behind receiver.

Tez did slip on the INT but DG was hesitant and late with the throw.

I like how well we played considering it wasn't DG's best game.

I look forward to Fri night.

Agree with DanL. Dillon was off on several throws. I thought that hit on Fergy was totally Dillons mistake. I was surprised that Addison did not pick that off.

One of a QBs responsibilities is to not put his receivers in harms way which Dillon does need work on.

Evan Stewart was open a number of times and not seen.....but I am grateful that Gabriel is here considering what other teams are going through.

Great point. We were used to 85% completion rate, 0 picks. In this one completion rate was in the 70's, and a pick-6, and the Ducks still won, 34-13

Not the first time we have had this issue where Stewart is running open but Gabriel gets tunnel visioned on Tez or Holden.

We're all waiting for Stewart to get his big break out game. But for that to happen he needs to get the ball thrown his way more.

Boise State he had 5 receptions for 112 yards and a TD.

I heard an interesting stat comparing Stewarts first 4 games to Tez's first 4 games last season. And there wasn't a massive difference.

Stewart's first 4 games 2024 = 14 receptions, 162 yards, and 1 TD

Tez's first 4 games 2023 = 15 receptions, 203 yards, and 3 TD (and this was with his "brother" as a QB where he already had the rapport built)

I believe this is two things.

1. He is still learning the playbook and getting familiar with DG

2. I really think we are only using the vanilla playbook up until tOSU game. It has been a whole lot of dink and dunks for this whole season. IMHO Stewart isn't really built for dink and dunks. When the full playbook is opened up I expect some big games from Stewart. But then again there is only one ball to go around!

I'm a Duck fan just waiting to see Stewart being used. I took a look and the NYT stats suggest Stewart is #2 in targets behind only Tez.

I have no reason to suggest it's wrong and I'd further suggest it is probably on point.

It's just, when we actually get an endnzone view, it really, really looks like Stewart is pulling away from his man.

The check down, in this instance probably is pushed by the staff. No one really to blame unless it's on the OL, for not holding for another half a second, where the OC might approve a different decision.

I'm just wondering, Oregon may have a guy in Dante Moore which may may take those shots and light up the board and will Lanning and Stein let him? I'm a huge fan of Gabriel and want to see where it goes; but, I think Moore may be the one guy ...

So far, I'd put Gabriel more in the line of Nix and Brown than in with Herbert or Adams. When I look at those guys, despite where one might fall on the outcome, Herbert and Adams were big play game changing guys when they saw it, rather than what we mostly are seeing now...

Not bad but not not necessarily game changing.

OBDs,

Speaking of comparisons to last years and this year, "according to gameonpaper.com, which tracks advanced metrics for all 134 FBS teams, the Ducks were far and away the best team across the entire country in 2023."

While the Ducks are 4-0 and easily still in contention for both a Big Ten and a national championship this season, their efficiency numbers on both sides of the ball have paled in comparison to a season ago, leaving some hardcore "stat-heads" unsold on their status as contenders this fall.

In 2023, Oregon held the top expected points added per play (EPA/play) in the nation at 0.41. This year, the Ducks currently hold an EPA/play of 0.18, which ranks 38th in the nation.

In 2023, Oregon also held the top yards per play average in the nation at 2.86. This fall, the Ducks' yards per play average ranks 14th at 2.33.

In 2023, Oregon even held the top success rate in the nation at 16.4%. This year, the Ducks rank 11th at 13.9%.

The Ducks were far and away the best team across the entire country in 2023. In 2024, they're still among the best, but not nearly as dominant. As it stands, Oregon's Big Ten foe Ohio State holds the top EPA/play in the nation at 0.66 in 2024.

Hadn't seen these stats before, but our Offense can perform better. Remember, our Ducks' competition is Oregon.

I read a lot of discontent with the offense.  I am no expert.  Replacing JPJ, Bo Nix and Bucky Irving has a lot to do with any perceived drop-off doesn't it?

Plus, a possible 16-game season in a more difficult conference.  Pacing the playbook and utilizing roster depth were issues Dan identified in the off-season when talking with NFL coaches about these transitions.

Another view is that the Ducks are strengthening depth, connection and technique by limiting the offense against lesser competition.

Time will tell, but I find this perspective as valid as the Chicken Little version right now.

I don't disagree.  I'm not overly concerned. I think we are improving each week. Replacing 3 NFL starters with new peops takes a bit of adjusting to. Especially at the QB position.

Let's peak in Nov. Sept rankings are meaningless.

There has been a lot of turnover and to think that everything works smoothly even with plugging in player who may ultimately be just as good just isn't true.

My concern is somewhat from a fan's point of view. It sometimes looks like the offense is more designed to break records for completion percentage (not necessarily a bad thing) than moving down the field and putting pressure on the opposing D. It looked like that at times last year too.

Maybe I'm just missing the days of hurry up offense, chunk plays and 3 and 4 play scoring drives. That's what made me a Duck fan. Now I'm hooked for life, but I still would like to see a little more of what brought me here. There just doesn't seem to a lot of aggressiveness in the offensive game plan.
