Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted October 13 I was aghast at the slanted narrative presented in the telecast, as it was clearly from the "Old-Money" of the B1G. It was explained as if it was primarily meant as an Ohio State game! Good Duck plays were often "mistakes" by Buckeye players, without proper context. They were often Buck-plaining to the audience as to what just happened from the Ohio State perspective. You could tell they knew Ohio State would prevail, and frankly were surprised that Oregon could hang this long with the obvious next national champion. Right? They finished the telecast with Buck-splaining how the game should have gone, and when they signed off with, "Oregon...welcome to the B1G?" I wanted to answer back... No...B1G...Welcome to OREGON! 1 1 4 3 1 3 Mr. FishDuck

Steven A Moderator No. 3 Share Posted October 13 That's Ok, Dan intentionally ran a 12th man on the field? Did Dan Lanning Intentionally Run the 12th Man On vs. OSU? DUCati855 Moderator No. 4 Share Posted October 13 I apologize as I signed out after the first obvious tOSU biased call. My sensitive mind couldn't deal with it. The Ducks won a close game... that wasn't nearly as close as the score would have you think. UO>>>>>>> than tOSU. 1
latracey No. 5 Share Posted October 13 It sounds like quite the theory, but I don’t believe Lanning would purposely put a 12th man in on defense. He would trust the eleven guys that should be out there to make the play.
David Marsh No. 6 Share Posted October 13 I mean... We play an LA school and it's all about how great USC or UCLA is is and how the Ducks should just be thankful for being invited. New conference and a new set of bias in opposition to the Ducks. Watching the B1G final drive show... It still feels like the narrative is that Oregon was lucky. Sure we had some luck but we also played our butts off.

Sorry you can't say we had much luck, where did we get lucky? The "onside" kick? sorry the tOSU didn't get out of the way of what might have been an intentional play. You know what is lucky not having an obvious interception reviewed where the defensive player clearly is saying he got the ball, what's lucky is an incredibly obvious holding then pass interference call where the team is driving towards a TD. There was nothing lucky about that game.
DrJacksPlaidPants Moderator No. 8 Share Posted October 13 I was at the NCSU/Syracuse game tonight, but I was following this game. Nearly half of the Wolfpack fans left at halftime despite being down by a FG. Oregon fans may have done this in the Chip Kelly era when we were up by 4 TD’s, but I have never seen Autzen empty out during a close game. A conference doesn’t make the team
SmithRiverDuck No. 9 Share Posted October 13 Todd Blackledge has always been biased against the Ducks. He played for one of the "real" blue bloods (Penn St.). He's always considered Oregon, "New money". I wasn't very happy when the game started and he was "commentating". There's obviously a reason that he's not on ABC anymore. I can't believe it's because anyone else wants to hear him. He's as big a hack as Gary Danielson.
Solar No. 10 Share Posted October 13 What did I say in the perception topic? We weren't good, OSU was bad, that's why they lost. Denzel Burke didn't get beat/outplayed, he just played bad and needs to do better. I think the OSU locker room knows what happened. They played a team that was superior to them at times, and often enough to beat them.

There was nothing lucky about that game. The reason I feel lucky that OBD won the game is because both teams played great. Both teams had self-inflicted mistakes (coaching and playing). Both teams had good and bad luck things happen to them (the interception that wasn't). We had a good neighborhood crowd in our tavern tonight. That might have meant there were twelve of us if you take into account today's crowd size bragging strategies. Someone said, with too much time on the clock for my comfort, "Maybe they'll make a mistake and the time will run out." My brain thankfully asked me not to call my good friend an idiot for their wishful thinking. Lo and behold that's exactly what happened. They had certainly been within field goal attempt range. But I don't mind throwing out all the luck stuff. That's hocus pocus, right? The amount of incredible play is what sticks out. What was laid out all over the field. By both teams. On the other hand, there's three things I've always felt had to happen for championship teams: Stellar play. Not being decimated by injuries, and.............well, a little luck.
