Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted October 28 I cannot hardly believe it, as I'm starting to feel sorry for Oregon State. Imagine that coming from someone who has truly danced-on-their-grave, and had a ton of fun at their expense. Stealing 30 million from Oregon over the next ten years set me off, but damn...they are now circling the bottom of the toilet bowl. You saw how they got killed by Cal, when that has never happened like that before. The talent gap between a G-5 team, and an ACC team has already become apparent. But did you see their schedule next year? Sam Houston, Appalachian State, the Cougars twice...yikes. But in 2026 they move up in their schedule to play....former Mountain West teams. Whew! I get it, they've settled into their 'niche, as they play on the CW for an audience of 400,000 while we play on a major network to four million and more. Someone on the forum wrote it best..."it just gets sadder and sadder." Yep. 1 1 1 1 Mr. FishDuck
30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted October 28 No sorry here, unless it's like you have overall when somebody gets hit by a train, and even then, "Get off the track!" But Oregon State has done all of this to itself. "Sure, I ate 3 pounds of Hershey bars, washed down by 4 big Gulps every afternoon, but diabetes? 1 1
DanLduck No. 3 Share Posted October 28 Not even sorry here. They made their own bed, they can lay in it. Years of mediocrity, leadership that was a major supporter of the horrible Pac12 leadership, an athletic budget regularly in the red, delayed NIL support, too many issues to list. They are where they deserve to be. And personally, I'm tired of their fans holier then thou attitude. Some day they may be competitive again, but for now, I am thoroughly enjoying their melt down while we rise in rankings. Now, bring on those Wolverines! Beat them down!! 1 2
JabbaNoBargain No. 4 Share Posted October 28 (edited) Nope. Them turning on the MWC with lawsuits when there was an easy solution right in front of them closed the door for me. The PIG-2 continues to live up to the name, burning bridges left and right so their accounting teams can pretend to be low-end P4’s for two years. I’m rooting for the MWC all the way moving forward. I do agree though, I do feel bad for them. But for the grace of Phil and others, there goes the Ducks. But I also refuse to live in the past and in reality, they are no longer a P5 team. That died with the Pac 12. 1
HDuck No. 6 Share Posted October 28 Since 2004, Beavis has had 18 losses by 35 pts or more. 4 – Oregon - this year 35 3 – Cal - this year 37 3 - Washington Oregon's margin: 59, 42, 40, 35 - none were to Chip
David Marsh No. 7 Share Posted October 28 I have a coworker who so a Beaver fan and we usually have some good conversations about college football in general. He's not a Duck fan but doesn't hate on the Ducks, at least in front of me. And I do the same when I'm around him about the Beavers. So apparently the Beavers have been absolutely blasted by injuries this year. Something like 17 players in their two deep have been out with injuries. I'll take his word on it that it's true. But if that's the case then having a new head coach, a style of play which is highly disciplined with a heavy run game built to milk the clock and a defense designed to stop the opponent... That leaves a team that is a low powered offense that is built to win low scoring games... With now just a team with a low powered offense and no defense.. This year it looks like everything is going wrong for them. But the reality is that they are a G5 program and going up against P4 programs is only going to get tougher. Sure, they'll have some good years but as long as they have a game against Oregon in their schedule... They can probably just fill that one in as an L. 1 1

JabbaNoBargain No. 9 Share Posted October 28 They’ve no doubt had injuries, but I think that’s really one of the big points. When you only have 5-6 really good players on the entire roster, as is the case with most of the G6, you have a good chance of doing okay against a P4 in September and bowl games when you’re healthy. Different story in October. 1

In one anecdote I recently saw by one of their admins at one of their sites…dude was railing on how classless all “hole” fans are and described how much classier he is with one exception. If he sees a “hole” fan wearing #3, he will always whisper just loud enough for them to hear, “5 picks” Zinger! Case closed, no coming back from that! After googling that “zinger”, I did vaguely recall Joey was #3, and had 5 picks a quarter of a century ago in a Civil War game. Keep clinging to memories Beavis, it’s over. Truly a classy comment. They are so envious it's beyond pathetic. I recently read an interview with the OS pres and by all accounts she is a very smart person. She is a mechanical engineer and reading some of the research she has done is quite impressive. BUT, (you knew this was coming) in an interview a couple of months ago with John Canzano he asked her about more effective marketing of OS athletics. He made the casual comment that the school 40 miles away has done a pretty good job of that. Her comment, 'you mean Western Oregon'???? I get the attempt at humor but given their situation it came off dumb and classless.

JabbaNoBargain No. 19 Share Posted November 1 (edited) Sorry to add to a days old post, but I saw something at a Beavis forums that’s may just cure you Charles! In reference to the MWC adding GCU as a non-football member today. Quote Is there anyone who doesn't seriously believe Gloria is A) bitter and B) just trying to match whatever strategy the Pac-12 is trying to do? Offers people we might have interest in (Texas St, etc.)... tries to use our money against us...now appears to be trying to put together a basketball conference as well. Good luck w/ UTEP. DC Featherbutt No. 24 Share Posted November 18 Just wait for the taxpayer bailouts that are coming. Seems to me that OAC will, after paying the exit fees for the WAC crap they are getting in bed with, not have the money to "fund at a P4 level" any more. How much do they owe on beandip arena and long-term P4 level coaching contracts? Just wait for it. It will come. 1

woundedknees No. 26 Share Posted November 19 An aunt of mine (One of my Mom's sisters) stalled her station wagon on the Mt Vernon railroad crossing, in Springfield Oregon, 60 years ago... She got safely out of the car, along with her 4 or 5 kids, and realized, with a train fast approaching, that she had left her pack of cigarettes on the front seat. She ran back, to reach through the open window of the car in an feeble attempt to retrieve the offending items, and the rest is (tragic) history. That is the result of one massively bad choice. What Oregon State has done, is reap the long term benefits of continually crappy short term decision making. The angst, pain, and regret for their fans will continue for years.
