B1G Championship GameDay Thread versus Penn State: Join Us!

Recommended Posts

I don’t know how you can defend Oregon’s defense after this game.

Penn State has only score more against:

  Kent (56)

  Purdue (49)

  Maryland (44)

Those consecutive run plays were not good calls.

Agreed. We went too conservative, too early.

Playing not to lose rather than to win. Gonna go down to the wire now.

I thought Whittington ran to the wrong hole on that first play, then delayed when PSU sealed the edge.  Game of inches!

Im impressed with Penn State, but I’m disappointed with some of the play from OBD.  We reduce the mistakes, we sail to a simple victory.

Now it’s up to having to make plays under pressure.

Defense has struggled a lot this game.

Every down is 4 down territory for State. Plenty of time left.

We need a pick

Great interception. Reed has a nice pair of hands.

He could start at WR for most B1G teams.

Penn State is equally as good as Ohio State.

We are barely better than both.

I wouldn’t say we escaped. But damn … good teams make their own luck. Great work, Ducks!

Now I’m going to nit pick.

As a safety, when you have two deep, both safeties are responsible for the post, fade, corner or post corner routes.

There is absolutely no reason to look at the QB.

On the interception, Safety Johnson is looking right at the QB.  When WB Allan throws the ball, Johnson is ten yards behind the play.

If CB Reed doesn’t cover properly, that is either a deep completion or a TD.

THAT IS HOW YOU LOSE FOOTBALL GAMES.

For t’hose of you new to this forum, you have no idea how ticked off I get when I see this repeatedly.  If I coached, you wouldn’t play performing like that.

Furthermore, I would su=ingle it out in film study. I would alson[robe you can’t cover like that in practice every damn day.

This is COVID, the Spanish Flu, WWI and WWII combined as far as I’m concerned.

I will blow up an imagined universe if we lose again because of deliberate coverage policies like that ( see my comments about a safety I will not name that ran past a game sealing interception because he looked at the damn QB instead of taking away his option to throw that ball).

I absolutely hate the way safeties, corners and linebackers cover receivers.

Great game by Gabriel, delivered throw after throw.  Stayed so calm in the pocket, moved to the spots where he could get the ball out, just an awesome job where we needed every pass we got form him.  Offense obviously stepped up in the last two games.

The much maligned (by some of us) defense pulls it off!

Nobody left that game til it was over, that for sure!

Now we get a bye week to get ready for the second round of the playoffs!

13 and 0 baby!  Go Ducks!

Why are we running a 2-5?

Worse, Lupoi is leaving a B gap wide open ( for those grey beards out there that played offense-a natural 24 run is there for the taking).  For those of you not familiar with running plays-the area between the right guard and the right tackle is complete uncovered on this drive.

Explains the gashing explosive runs.

I’m a put five guys in the LOS on defense.  Always,

Hey Guys----- The Ducks are Big 10 Champs!!!!!!!!!

If it were 1991, Oregon would be the unanimous National Champions.

Now we have to play a playoffs, after a 13-0 season.

Beating No. 3 Penn State was a much different feeling than beating FCS Idaho for me.

By the way, Idaho won their FCS Playoff opener tonight and will next play No. 1 Montana State
