FishDuck Article Administrator No. 1 Share Posted December 10 In the movie Rocky IV, after the death of his friend, former champion, and mentor Apollo Creed, Rocky had to carry the weight of the world on his back as he faced a seemingly invincible opponent in a six-foot-seven, evil, Apollo-killing, cold war era Russian named Ivan Drago. The Oregon Ducks, after the death of their dear friend, the conference ... 30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted December 10 Lanning set the tone immediately. We and everybody else have filled the space pointing out how totally the formers of the bracket, the conference commisioner's, not the Committee, screwed the No.1 team, OBD. But Lanning would have nothing to do with any of that. Just like the 8 game test, "miles to go before you sleep" the Ducks overcame and vanquishing yet another B1G blueblood in the redundant CCG, OBD came out on top. After this nice break before the games begin again, it almost feels like Oregon wouldn't know what to do with the easier walk to the championship that Penn State has. 1
MicroBurst61 No. 3 Share Posted December 10 Ok. Let me see if I have this correct. Oregon, on its way to the B1G title, beat the two National Championship teams from 2023, beat the "traditional" top three teams in the B1G (Michigan / Ohio St / Penn St., plus an always annoying Wisconsin team), and now are slated to the possibilty of beating the three top teams in the SEC (Tennessee / Texas / Georgia), if the bracket plays out as "expected". So, when this comes to pass, in the end we would have played, and beaten, 6 of the top 10 ranked teams and 7 of the top 25 ranked teams when we hoist that (1st) National Championship Trophy! No B1G or SEC champion has EVER had a gauntlet such as this on the way to their "championships"! Again, OBD will Have to be viewed as the Greatest, most tested, NFL-lite Champion of ALL times! And after twenty-five years of near misses to a "Natty", achieving one in such a way would be...historical! I am SO here for it all! GO DUCKS! 2 1
Haywarduck No. 4 Share Posted December 10 As much as I like Rocky, the song and the movie, The Ducks are real and lethal. If we are going to draw a comparison I like my all-time favorite instead of Sly. PittDuck No. 8 Share Posted December 10 Thank you Darren for posting an article that says what I have been thinking about since they named the 12! I even put it in a previous post: Since we have already vanquished the best the B1G has to offer, I would love to see the Ducks take out Tennessee in the Rose Bowl, then trash Texas in the Semi-final. That would set us up to beat the bulldogs for the Natty! 16-0, having beaten the best of the B1G AND the SEC, would pretty much cement OBD as a team for the ages! I was hoping someone would mention it, and you put it in better words, but captured it precisely! Thank you Sir! And Go Ducks! 1

DrJacksPlaidPants Moderator No. 15 Share Posted December 11 According to the lady a few cubicles over from me at work, Oregon won’t make it past the first SEC teams they face. I believe the quote I heard was “Bama would walk all over Oregon, so they don’t stand a chance against Tennessee or Georgia”. She was going on about how the best teams weren’t in the tournament because they had to let the other conference champions in and a few wild cards. I didn’t say anything to her but an opportunistic NY Giants fan reminded her of the 2007 and 2012 Giants teams who won the Super Bowl with 9-7 records. I don’t really blame her. She’s still sees the world through Saban colored glasses and she thinks Milroe is a great QB. She’ll get over it when Bama finishes in the middle of the SEC a few more times. 2

Nevada Dawg No. 17 Share Posted December 12 Slight addendum to Charles's post: Georgia Bulldawgs have won four games against CFP PARTICIPANTS: Clemson, Tennessee, Texas (twice). You bet I am counting that second win against highly rated Texas!! And they may have to do it three times to get to the Natty.
