Posted December 12, 2024Dec 12 Moderator Tulane QB Ty Thompson enters NCAA Transfer Portal WWW.ON3.COM .
December 12, 2024Dec 12 I'm just curious what actual football knowers on this website think about Thompson. To me he appeared to be terrible from what little we saw. But people who know football better than me ( easy to do admittedly )were often like he will be good he will be good. Was that just hopeful homerism by Duck fans with football knowledge? To me, for all his physical talents he just appeared not mentally or emotionally competitive. But I have no idea if that's me just being a jerk.
December 12, 2024Dec 12 It's such a big leap from high school to college, so it's hard to know what 5 stars mean sometimes.
December 12, 2024Dec 12 No fire, no "it" factor, just a big guy who managed to attract a five star rating five years ago. Third time is probably NOT the charm.
December 12, 2024Dec 12 Looked to have no desire to be on the field, very lackluster. The difference between Thompson and our last 2 QBs is mountainous at least. If you don’t want it it will never come your way.
December 12, 2024Dec 12 Mario was star struck but some who know recruiting said he was average at best in high school.
December 12, 2024Dec 12 What are the odds TT shines in the bowl game? I find it hard to believe he will suddenly find his footing.
December 12, 2024Dec 12 My take is that TT had tremendous physical gifts (arm strength, athleticism) but he couldn’t put it all together at the collegiate level at least at Oregon (and Tulane). I wish him the best and hope he can start and has success in his final season. He seemed like a class act. Edited December 12, 2024Dec 12 by OregonDucks
December 13, 2024Dec 13 Administrator All the star ratings do is give us higher percentages of success as we go up the star scale. But 5-Stars are not 100%, and some just don't work out. I hope he gets a degree, and has great success in his life outside of football. Mr. FishDuck
December 13, 2024Dec 13 What if nobody wants him? How does that work? Can he go back to Tulane and still get the scholarship? Seems risky at this point to lose that from a good school. Agree with Mr. Fishduck that that his best shot is getting a degree and a job like the rest of us.

Once you enter the portal--he can only get a scholarship back from Tulane if they offer it to him. Mr. FishDuck
