He won the award for best defensive player, for best receiver, of course he won the Heisman. But does that make him the GOAT? Plus, Tyler Warren played TE, center, WR, RB, QB and punter. That might make him the best all-round player ever. It is voted on by media members and about 50 former Heisman winners. I'm now more interested in awards selected by coaches. Maxwell Award selected Jeanty, while the Walter Camp selected Hunter. 30Duck Author Moderator No. 8 Share Posted Tuesday at 02:14 AM I know the hype isn't his fault, Prime is his coach after all, but the Heisman pose pic I used in the post wasn't the only one, there were a lot to choose from. Playing 2 positions is impressive, but as Steven A pointed out, look at what Warren did at Penn State! Warren is an incredible talent, at multiple positions, but until Oregon played Penn State, I had barely heard of him. That is ridiculous. Hunter was on a team that finished out of contention for the Big 12, we've all noticed that Oregon, the most dominant team all year is pretty much anonymous. Utki No. 11 Share Posted Tuesday at 08:27 AM (edited) In high school I was entered into four events every meet and scored pretty high in all of them and often won at least two of the events, but I wasn't even the best athlete on our team. Or highest placer at State. I was just fairly versatile in a lot of different events. Hunter is like a guy who could finish 4th or 5th in the hundred in the long jump and 200. But he would have guys that were much better on his team, probably in those events. So was he really the best? Not really just able to do two different things at a fairly high of a level. Played baseball in high school, was drafted out of high school. In football it was said he could punt the ball 80 yds, but what he did on the football field was legendary. He had legit 4.1 speed, and power to run over, jump over or cut around you, but would mostly run through or by you. History shows he was an all-star in professional Baseball and Football. Nobody was better than Bo, nobody as far as an overall athlete. In track and field he almost high jumped 7', long jumped 25' could throw and sprint like a Olympic Gold Medal winner. If Travis Hunter was the last guy between the goal and Bo it would be no contest. Not only do they have a full week of practice and meetings, like every other D1 team, but they have a FULL regimen of academic classes, AND they are trained in military combat and weapon use. Props to Hunter on a great season and playing both ways. He is a special talent. But he is not even the best player in the 2024 class. I see the potential for both to truly be special at the next level. Best ever? Nah… As for Dillon, he had too many good, but not “great” games to be in consideration. He only threw for >300 yds twice this season, against Ohio st and Idaho. That is exactly what happened, with Colorado not even making their CCG, Hunter did end up the season piling up stats, playing for clicks, while Gabriel was leading his team to an undefeated season and No.1 ranking.
