30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted yesterday at 02:27 PM Thanks, Alex. Football 101 says the key to beating osu2 is getting a serious pass rush on Howard. Having Burch this time helps with that immensely. Not only that, I can see Lupoi having some blitz packages ready to go. Containing Smith, by getting to Howard is mandatory. Osu2 can run the ball, but if they don't break a big one, let em get 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Heisman winner Hunter and the Buffs will have played BYU in the Alamo Bowl, by the time the Rose Bowl kicks off, Jeanty and Boise State and Penn State is the game right before, now it will be Gabriel's turn to do what he has all season; lead the Ducks to another win. It doesn't seem to matter how much tape opposing DC's have to look at; Tez will be wide open in the middle of the field and Gabriel will find him, or Ferg, or Stewart, Sadiq, Holden. Gabriel can run it too. But most of the running will come from JJ and Whittington. Oh yeah, go Ducks!!!! 1 1

If Howard has time to stand back there and look around Jeremiah Smith will burn us. He’s a great route runner and catches everything. His running mate isn’t bad either. 1
NYDuck No. 4 Share Posted yesterday at 03:16 PM Agreed. the big guys up front have to make Will Howard question why he got off the bus. He needs to be hit and in that Pasadena dirt CONSISTENTLY. We cannot allow him to survey the field for 5 seconds, move in the pocket, and find Jeremiah for big plays. We need to be in his face from the first whistle. Oblige him. 1

We got one sack on him in the first game, and several hurries, but we're gonna need more than that this time. 1 1
EastBayDuckDad Moderator No. 6 Share Posted yesterday at 04:56 PM All of the yapping and posturing is coming from the Tosu side. Pretty much crickets from OBD. Reminds me of a cornered animal arching its back and puffing up it's fur to look bigger. But emotion can carry you only so far. Bucknut seems to have a mixed record with the high emotion approach. The pressure on them and Day to break the Michigan curse resulted in an epic fail. No doubt they wanted to win badly. Pride and a rematch with OBD in the B1G CG was on the line but smart coaching and great defense by Michigan pulled an upset that threatened Day's job. Good for them that they rebounded at home, in an ice box, with a convincing win over an outgunned and vulnerable Tennessee. They had to, since a loss would have resulted in pitchforks and torches in the streets of Columbus, with the heads of Day and the Chipster decorating pikes in front of the 'Shoe' The formula for beating Bucknut is there for the study with two different examples: Outscore them and grind them to a halt. The film on how to beat the Ducks doesn't exist. Throw in the emotional component as a factor, arched back with puffed out fur, and that undeniable sense of Tosu entitlement for good measure. Yes, the teams are evenly matched. It will be a helluva game that will likely come down to a single score. And they do indeed want it soooo bad, to show Oregon who is really the best team in the nation. May they do just that. Go Ducks 1

EastBayDuckDad Moderator No. 8 Share Posted 21 hours ago Compared to OBD v Tosu part one, the Ducks have two big pluses: Jordan Burch and (hopefully) a full game of Traeshon Holden. Bucknut is missing an All-American center and the tackle injured against Oregon, so at least one important minus. I don't think they got anyone critical back since Oct 12. If both teams are at the same strength otherwise, there appears to be slight personnel advantage for the Ducks. I would expect much the same outcome.
The Kamikaze Kid Moderator No. 9 Share Posted 21 hours ago I think the fourth key will be whatever ridiculous game prep motivation Lanning comes up with this week that we'll find out in the latest Ducks vs Them. What theme does he come up with next? Does he go with Brave Heart for the dangerous underdog angle? How about Empire Strikes Back for the merciless top dog acting like it? Personally I hope it's Predator. Ripping out spines and collecting skulls seems more Lanning's speed. 1
Jon Joseph Moderator No. 10 Share Posted 21 hours ago Thanks, Alex. Show up delighted to Duck It Out with the Bucks. Play free, relax, and Have Fun. FEBU! OBD was the only team that scored more than 17 points on tOSU this season including the Kiffin-Approved, SEC Juggernaut, It Just Means More (at least until kickoff in Columbus ) Tennessee Vols. The Vols fans' Invasion of The Shoe was over before the pre-kickoff tossed coin hit the ground. There was a whole lot of Orange-headed South, including Smokey's dog house, before the start of the 4th Q. Take a Howitzer to Howard! Shake off the Rust and Put the BUST on the $20M title or bust. 30Duck Moderator No. 11 Share Posted 20 hours ago Lanning has lost some big games: In a "Neutral Site" against Georgia, 1 to OSU and 3 to Washington, by 3 points. Let's take a look at how Day & osu2 have done when the pressure is at its highest...well, they did just beat Tennessee.

I hope the Rose Bowl warm-up act on 1/1/25 sees the Fighting Dilly's sink Sark. Sighted Sark. Sank Same! 4 Roses in a Row for OBD and 3 in a Row Over the Team That Was Once the King. jrw Moderator No. 13 Share Posted 19 hours ago Let me quote the master motivator who doesn't believe in motivation. That would be Dan Lanning. I think he means what he says, and I think this is why this team is successful. Yes, he smashes helmets and invokes Gladiator, but it's really about execution and technique, not getting all fired up; teaching your players all season how to play the game to an impossibly high standard in all ways, not just playing with emotion. I mean, Tennessee was probably really fired up, right? It's like Mike Tyson said, "Everybody has a plan, until...". These are pre-Huskies' game quotes. “It’s always about performance, right?” Lanning asked the media members. “It’s always about what we’re able to do on the field. I’ve said it several times—motivation is overrated.” “Our guys have to want to go out there and execute at a really high level. Since the beginning of the season, we’ve talked about playing our best football at the end of November. Well, we’re there, right? So this is our opportunity to go play our best football against a good team.” “It means a lot to us, certainly. But ultimately, it is another game, right? It’s the next game. You don’t play with emotion—it’s about execution over emotion. These games are going to have emotion; that’s how they’re played. But that’s not what leads to success on the field.”
HappyToBeADuck No. 14 Share Posted 18 hours ago This wont be very popular but here goes..... If the Oregon D plays against osu2 like they did against PSU then OBD's could lose the Rose Bowl game. I have rewatched the CCG 4 times now and after the Ducks got up 28-10 the D stopped holding the edge, the linebackers were nowhere to be found on running plays and PSU scored 2 easy touchdowns over the top. No defender anywhere in sight to make the play. PSU would have had a 3rd TD Pass but the tightend let it slip away. osu2 is a better and more explosive team than PSU. They want revenge........ OBD'S can win this game as long as the Duck D cleans alot up against the Buckeyes. Nothing OBD's have already done this season matters. It's a one game season now. This game is a toss-up. Both teams have changed and improved since October. EXECUTION will win the day. GO DUCKS........
