They lead college football with 148 points off of turnovers. They did give up 35 to the only decent passing team they played all year (USuC). They should be pushovers if they beat PSU. My guess is you would beat them 38-14 or something close to that.
BuckDuck No. 31 Share Posted Friday at 03:39 AM @DrJacksPlaidPants I agree. ND offense does not have a ton of explosiveness. QB play is adequate and efficient. Not game changing like Gabriel or Ward. WR rooms isn’t the greatest but they have a good O-Line and RB. If they can keep it close their defense can be a game changer. Force a lot of TOs. Play mistake free football (or as few as possible) and OSU wins but let them stick around and anything could happen. Penn State and ND is a fun matchup. They are very similar teams in my opinion. Serviceable offenses and great defenses and special teams. I foresee a low scoring slug fest in that matchup. 1

They all have things in common: poor line play, which requires a lot of timing element and assignment which always get better over the season. Turning it on at game speed is easier said than done after a long time off. Ball security and dropped passes, In practice the DB and LB aren't trying to level you and pound you into the ground and that's something that takes a few hits to get back into the game. Killer instinct or lack there of, from the body language of the teams you could tell that the team that won last week had much more confidence. 1

Nevada Dawg No. 35 Share Posted Friday at 07:39 PM Having slept on this Dawg loss, I awoke feeling exactly the same way I did after the Ducks' roasting by OSU--supremely disappointed. If there are two teams in college football that I can say I detest and whom are typically badly overrated, they are OSU and Notre Dame. So to have my two favorite teams spanked by these guys was hard to take. But it happened and these two teams are certainly not overrated THIS year. But the sky is hardly falling for either Oregon or Georgia. Georgia has a fair about of rebuilding to do, probably needing a new OC, an upgrade in wide receivers, and possibly a new offensive line coach. I'll be watching carefully from afar, but I'd be shocked if Georgia can do enough to stem the losses they will have off-season (to the NFL and the portal) to be rated among the top 5 teams next pre-season. Oregon is probably in better shape than Georgia is to kick off next year, although it is unknown at this point who is going to be taking snaps under enter--always a big deal. The Ducks have been very fortunate to have two transfers the quality of Bo Nix and Dillon Gabriel over the past 3 years an that good fortune will not last forever. At this point I am crossing my fingers that things work out for both teams. I've said before on this forum that I kinda doubted that this Georgia team had what it would take to win the natty. I wasn't sure Oregon did either but I was more confident that they did than I was for the Dawgs. So in that sense, what happened in the Rose Bowl was a bigger surprise than the results of the Sugar Bowl. But there is no other way to slice it, disappointment reigns supreme this morning in the Nevada Dawghouse. 1 1
OregonDucks No. 36 Share Posted Friday at 07:48 PM Sorry the Dawgs lost. As I mentioned before the game, from afar, it really seemed as though Georgia missed its playmakers (TE and WR). Not sure who Georgia loses and has coming in but a complete offensive rebuild might not be necessary. Your defense will always keep you in games.
Nevada Dawg No. 37 Share Posted yesterday at 06:16 AM Dawgs have recruited some excellent receivers in the 25 class and get even richer on defense with three 5 star defensive front guys who will play some in 2025. Kirby has no problem attracting defenders given how many of his charges are drafted fairly highly by the NFL, especially on the defensive line. But help was, and still is, needed on offense. The tight end room is set for the next three years, but I am looking for the addition of a meaningful contributor at XWR from the portal and possibly another portal receiver as well. Fingers crossed.

A not kind to Kirby review of the Sugar Bowl. IMO, trying to equate Kirby with Lincoln Riley is laughable. Kirby Smart isn’t as bad as Lincoln Riley, but he blew the Sugar Bowl TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM In the 12-team playoff era, a number of coaches have gotten noticeably worse. It’s not just Lincoln Riley, though the USC coach has been horrible in recent years. I'm not ready to join in with the SEC is no longer in a league of its own crowd. I am ready to say this was an off-year, no doubt. Much of this is self-inflicted by the schedules handed to some of the conference's top teams: Georgia, Bama, Florida, and Oklahoma. Especially when compared to Texas, Tennessee, Mizzou, and Ole Miss. I am still puzzled over the SEC handing out the same schedule in 2025. How does it serve the conference to do this? How many teams in the nation could have played Georgia's schedule plus a rematch with Texas and not lost two games? How many teams would defeat this Notre Dame team with a backup QB? Texas could win it all. But if not, I don't see two years without a championship erasing the success in the BCS and 4-team playoff.

He's having fun on ESPN, but DeBoer would still be at Washington and Saban would still be at Alabama, if he didn't sense the Portal, NIL being the equalizer. As far as SEC-B1G, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Michigan, USC will be right there with Georgia, Alabama, Texas...Ole Miss, SC for the foreseeable future.
