Yes, the season can't get here soon enough, yet this is the last week of fall camp with 1st game prep beginning next week, so it kind of snuck up on me that shouldn't we have a QB1 announcement soon?

OSU just announced Sayin as their QB1.

At what point do we start to legitimately wonder if we have a real QB controversy between Novasad and Moore?

For me, it's Monday next week if fall camp is over and still no announcement. It's not like we need to keep our QB a secret from Montana state. I mean, it's possible Dan would do that, but it's more likely we would see 2 QBs battling it out against Montana state to win the starting job like Harbaugh did with McCarthy a few years back.

What do you all think?

I’m not worried about it. If there is a battle I think it’s a battle of true qb1’s. I think coach Lanning isn’t worried what anybody thinks, I’d even go so far as saying I think he wouldn’t announce it just to start rumors.

He’s always preaching about ignoring the outside noise and rumors would help to unify this team against the hype. If we don’t find out who the starter is until the game starts I won’t be upset.

If whoever is under center can’t move the ball or the defense can’t stop them from moving the ball, then I’ll get worried.

So far this staff has given me reason to trust the process, and understand there is method to the madness. Gameday can’t come soon enough though.

Announcement will come game day.

Lanning doesn't share this type of stuff normally.

I predict Danno will announce a starter going into game week, and it will be Moore. On another site, the inside stuff from the Scrimmage leaked out this morning, and I was going to wait a day before reporting it--but apparently Dante had a great Saturday scrimmage, and many on the inside believe that it gave a big edge to Moore.

Agree 100%

Dante Moore’s tape looks solid to me. Quick release and can throw downfield with accuracy. I have confidence that he is a good fit for our offense.

Solid review by this guy.

On the Big Ten Network's tour of Fall camps, BTN's Yogi Roth opined that the job is Dante's, and in practice, he looked like he would be one of the top QBs in the conference and also in the nation.

It didn't sound like he was blowing smoke as a talking head. Roth was more effusive in his praise of Moore than any other player on the stops he's made on the tour.

Following his mentors, Saint Nick and Kirby, Dan Lanning likes to keep things close to his vest.

Which newbie QB will reach the highest plateau at Oregon, Ohio State, Michigan, Indiana, Bama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas, among others in The Season of the Which?

The wait is almost over. 😊

Dante must feel like he was Custer and suddenly became Eisenhower. That UCLA O line was like playing behind a slice of Swiss cheese.

I don’t think there’s any controversy.

Seems pretty common for coaches to be coy when replacing a starter. Also, in the transfer age, probably strategic to call it an open competition as long as possible. I do remember a large percentage of people clamoring for “not Nix” when he transferred in.

We’re fine, barring injury, it’s Moore.
