Joe Paterno coached games from the press box after he had hip surgery caused by a collision on the sideline. Second, I read that Mario must have hurt himself.ESPN.comPaterno coaching opener from PSU press boxJoe Paterno coached Penn State's season opener from the press box Saturday, three weeks after an accidental collision at practice left him with right shoulder and pelvis injuries.
11 hours ago11 hr Several head coaches have been in the press box during games including Notre Dame's Lou Holtz. Joe Paterno. There are others. Though, not sure if Cristobal is the first to do it without being there as a result of some illness or injury.Cristobal can always say he never lost to Notre Dame as head coach on the field. The game Sunday evening is at Miami. ND leads the series 18-8-1. But, is 6-7-1 in Miami.
11 hours ago11 hr My first thought - if this ends up being true - is that it's a genius move. Now he'll be able to hear the audible groans and people reflexively shouting "NO!!!" at every one of his poor gameplan/game management decisions. The crowd won't be able to drown out the immediate feedback he needs.

9 hours ago9 hr Moderator This sounds like an improvement but for the best results he might want to try being the first coach to coach from home in bed asleep.
9 hours ago9 hr Hugh Freeze once coached his team while laying in a hospital bed that had been placed in the coaches box.

Doesn't matter where in the stadium he is if he keeps telling the RB to run into a brick wall in the last possession of the game instead of taking a knee to ice it. He can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory from anywhere lol
8 hours ago8 hr Moderator Inquiring minds want to know if he'll be able to call timeouts from there before the game and the start of the second half.
7 hours ago7 hr The conventional wisdom here is that this MIGHT not be true.I know everything on the internet is true but this might be one of those things that slipped under the radar.😉
5 hours ago5 hr He will be safer in the box when he makes bone-headed mistakes. It is hard for the fans to hit him with water bottles up there.Disclaimer: I am not advocating throwing things which is not tolerated.
5 hours ago5 hr With a career winning percentage of 55%, who is to question the Captain of Coral Gables?
3 hours ago3 hr Moderator Why be on the sideline for a loss to the Domers? It wasn't my fault! 😒I was stuck in traffic! When the Gators come calling, be prepared for a Mario Amber Alert.
