Almost there.jpg

OK...it is cool to find out the uniform later today, but I cannot wait to see the starting lineups, especially in the defensive backfield, and especially after David Marsh's article recently that made us ponder.

How about you?

Mr. FishDuck

Moore to Moore

  1. How does this almost brand new offensive line come together and how many games does it take for them to gel as a solid unit, which I think they will become?

  2. Can we coach our way to a quicker start than we did against Idaho? I recall that game as a bit of a nail biter and it should not have been?

  3. And of course, how does our new QB perform? BTW who is our new QB?

Dante Moore!!

I don't want to upset Nevada Dawg, but could Kenyon Sadiq be another Brock Bowers? And will the O-line be prepared to play together from the get-go, ready to keep Dante upright and to open holes for the RBs?

Let's get it on!

Well I was going to shamelessly plug my own article but you beat me to it.

But on the opposite side of the ball is going to be the offensive line and run game combo. To put it bluntly the run game wasn't good enough last year. It's numbers were down from 2023 and the offensive numbers on the whole were down from 2023.

I want to see a more productive run game for starters. With that said ... I'll shamelessly plug a different article.

1. How does the new D-Line play? Oregon needs it to be dominant to compete with the top tier.

2. I’m not so much interested in how Dante plays as I am how the offense is being called. Will it be vanilla or will Stein open the playbook for the new guys?

3. How many back-ups from last year show out now that it’s their turn? I want to see guys like Genorris, Fox and Kawika dominate on the OL. Jericho, Xadavian, and Tionne on the DL. Purchase, Porter, Platt at LB and all of the DB’s. Saleapaga at TE; all the new WR’s; who emerges as the 3rd RB?

This isn’t so much for Saturday’s game as it is for the season. I want to get a taste of what Oregon’s future looks like.

Does the Bear emerge from hibernation hungry and ready to eat?

explosive plays!

WIN BABY WIN X'S 15

Definitely interested in seeing who is getting playing time at every position outside the front 7 on D.

Is the OL opening running lanes big enough to see from the nose bleeds.

How many plays Moore wastes compared to the efficiency gods Bo and Dillon.

My interest priorities.

  1. The line up reveal probably like everyone else.

  2. OL play. Solid and effective is my goal. No news is good news.

  3. The RB pecking order. There are at least 5 maybe 6 legit options

  4. How does QB 2 look? Is it like Joey Harrington/ AJ Feeley or Bo Nix and let's not go there.

  5. I'm interested in how the OL backups look. Last years starters to backup gap seemed alarming.

  6. I'm hoping the D pulls it all together this year. I don't want to see any concerns at any level.

If Moore balls out 2024 would be the first year since 2012 where Oregon had a legit back up.

Hoping we have a solid backup this season. It's been a long time since we've had a good 2nd QB.

seems to me it's why Novosad is still here. he's solid

That and if Moore does well enough to make the leap to the draft after the season Novosad has that starting spot pretty much locked.

On the mike in Autzen for the Big Ten Network -

Announcer - Jeff Levering - Graduate of Chapman College, where he played baseball for four seasons.

Lead announcer for Bally Sports coverage of the Milwaukee Brewers. Worked with the famous Bob Uecker on Brewers radio broadcasts. (Other than this, I know nothing of Jeff.)

Analyst - Michigan AA TE Jake Butt, whose NFL career did not go as expected due to multiple ACL tears.

Excellent point here.

Sadly, the 2024 run game was worse than just 2023. Between 2007 and 2024 . . . 2024 run game had the lowest YPG and YPA.

I'm with you on this one; hoping the OL and run game fair much better this year.

Agree running could be better, but…

There is some cause (B1G schedule) and effect here. New caveman ball oriented conference geared around stopping the run was almost certainly going to result in historically bad run numbers on offense. If I remember correctly, many of our defensive metrics (YPG, Pass YPG, PPG) all set modern era bests or close to it.

My wish is simple… I want OBD to do everything right, play to their standard, and put these guys away in convincing fashion. If the Ducks control the line, let the defensive backs show what they can do, and give Moore the chance to settle in, this should be the kind of blowout that leaves no doubt.

Oregon SLOBBERKNOCKING Montana State!

1) Will we see 1 or 2 QB's? Is Dante Moore our best QB? Does he have the leadership intangibles? Can he make quick decisions or use his feet to extend plays?

2) Inside Linebackers - We have experience and speed, but do we have the elite linebackers needed for an elite defense. I want to hear their names all game long. That means our linemen are occupying blockers, linebackers are beating blocks, and their instincts are putting them in the right place at the right time. It's been a loooong time since we've had an elite tandem at this level. I'd love to see this group meet or exceed the level of Kiko Alonso and Michael Clay.

3) Will WRs have more receptions than RBs and TEs combined? New QBs and new WRs mean more check downs. How many more two RB sets will we see and how many times do we see Dakorien Moore get the ball behind the line of scrimmage? If we see WRs with more receptions than TEs and RBs, I'll take that as a big positive for QB, WR, and OLine chemistry and development.

line play on both sides of the ball.

Last year Points Per Game were down. We averaged around 35 points per game where the previous year we were around 40. I believe we were also down in passing yards per game as well.

And I'm not entirely sold on the notion that the B1G is a better defensive conference than the Pac-12 was. The top end is absolutely elite and better but the rest of the conference I feel is equal or below the Pac-12. Utah and Stanford fielded some pretty brutal defenses in the Pac-12.

So much of the B1G is built on a reputation that was set by the top.
