I don't know if you heard about the comments Mike Gundy made about the Ducks needing to play opponents who spend similar amounts on NIL.

But, you gotta love Dan Lanning's ability to call someone out for talking out of both sides of their mouth ... and do it amicably.

Gundy's willful ignorance is astonishing. He has had the T. Boone Pickens golden horseshoe up his backside his entire career and wants to call out Phil and the Ducks? In fact, Phil just improved upon T. Boone's original model.

Of course, he sported the mullet into the 2000's so he may be a bit obtuse.

He disproved the notion that $ makes better football programs when his boys struggled to beat hugely underfunded UT Martin. Apparently $ is not an issue until you face someone who makes better use of it than you do.

As I mentioned in another thread, I think he’s trying to get his donors to pony up. He’s basically saying his team will be perma stuck in irrelevance until they do and that would be a correct assessment.

I don't believe he was talking out of his mouth when he made those comments.

I don’t think it’s a good look to the team when the coach starts making excuses for the loss before the game is even played.

Oklahoma State is the bitter little brother that Oregon State could only dream to be. The Cowboys refused under any circumstance to play Oklahoma after the Sooners didn't force the SEC to take them as a pair. Think of all the players they could get with the revenue of continuing to get a home game against their biggest foe every other year.

Oklahoma State had the backing of T Boone Pickens for many years but he passed in 2019 with an estimated net worth of $900,000,000. On the other hand Phil Knight is still with us and has an estimated net worth of 33 Billion.

The Oklahoma State coach, who repeatedly mentioned Oregon spending “a lot of money” on its football program during his radio show on Monday, clarified his remarks during an interview with Rick Neuheisel on SiriusXM on Thursday.

“The truth of the matter Rick is I was being very complimentary of Oregon and their commitment,” Gundy said. “The other things that had been said that day were that they’ve made a commitment to facilities, as we know. They’ve made a huge commitment to their staff. They’ve made a huge commitment to their surrounding staff and then they’ve made a huge NIL commitment.”

I saw another take on this by Marshall Scott of Pistols Firing; saying he thought it was more of a nothing burger ... and then went on to explain why.

Actually, both DL and Gundy gave each other a bunch of props in their initial comments. However, it was the sensational sound bytes that got all the media attention.
