6 hours ago6 hr No. Yeah, I know she was actually my daughter' diabetic alert dog, but Daisy (yup, named after THAT Duck) never missed a game. She watched with us, and eagerly participated in our beach football games (Heaven forbid you missed a pass, or fumbled. You'd better be quick and agile!)I coached soccer for many seasons, and I had trained her to handle a ball well enough that I often took her to practice, and used her to train inexperienced players on defensive positioning and tactics.Kids didn't even realize they were actually acquiring skills because they had so much fun.I'll definitely miss her the rest of the season, as I watch OBD march to glory.I have a feeling it just won't seem quite the same.
6 hours ago6 hr No. I am sorry for your loss woundedknees. It’s been about 14 years since we lost our dog. So many great memories combined with the sadness of losing him even now. You and your family are in thoughts.
5 hours ago5 hr No. Sorry for your loss. I know the sting when you lose a companion, just lost mine a month ago, Murphy 17 1/2 year old Yorkie.
5 hours ago5 hr Author No. That's pretty good longevity for a Yorkie.Daisy would have been 9 Dec 10.In 51 years of marriage, she was the only dog my wife ever allowed to sleep on the bed. When my wife was diagnosed with a rare form of ocular melanoma, the surgeon commented that Daisy had alerted on the issue, before it was actually diagnosed.Never underestimate the value of the right companion!
