Initial availability report for Saturday’s CFP game:

Questionable: WR Dakorien Moore, WR Gary Bryant Jr., DB Sione Laulea, DB Trey McNutt, WR Evan Stewart

Out: OL Gernorris Wilson, RB Da’Jaun Riggs, WR Kyler Kasper, WR Justius Lowe, DB Solomon Davis

I believe there can be daily updates Thursday, Friday ...and final 90 minutes before kickoff.

I'm not surprised. He's pretty good and works hard... But pretty good doesn't get you on the field with the Ducks.

He got knocked out of the rotation this year by freshman and transfers.

He got back in rotation because of injuries.

And next year he'll probably be out of the rotation by some up and coming redshirts and true freshman.

All the power to him in finding a place to play. He's been a benefit to the Ducks for sure and stepped up when his number was called.

Just reported that DBs Lopa and Laulea are hitting the portal as of now. Not surprised by Laulea as he was rarely used, but I think Lopa was on the two deep at safety and didn't have too bad a game against JMU. I wonder if DL lighting up the defense post game had anything to do with it.

There most likely will be more to come.

Just how it works now. Just a guess, between 4-8 more. Nothing to do with the game yesterday.

If my memory is right, Lowe looked good last year when he subbed in. I expected him to get more catches this year. That is how it goes sometimes. I think there will be quite a few who enter the portal as soon as the season ends.

Combine that with a low numbers signing class, and I think Oregon goes after the portal pretty hard for next season. Also factor in talented players who leave college for the pros after the min of 3 years in college.

I predict the Ducks hit the portal hard for edge players and O linemen, maybe linebackers too. And a QB if Dante goes pro. Possibly another TE, maybe a kicker or punter? I think the team is pretty good mostly every where else.

I think a highly coveted 5-Star safety (see below) coming in this winter, and one RS freshman safety ahead of him returning probably had more to do with it. And that is not counting 5-Star Safety Trey McNutt coming back from injury as well...

Whew! No. 2 Safety in the US joining us soon?

Lopa is now the sixth Oregon player to enter the portal this year, joining Laulea, WR Justius Lowe, CB Jahlil Florence, CB Dakoda Fields, and S Solomon Davis.

Captain Obvious here, they really need to fix the calendar so that players planning on entering the portal don't have to do so in the middle of a playoff run. Even if they're unlikely to get playing time, they've still paid their dues and helped the team throughout the season. They should be allowed to enjoy the playoff experience that they've earned.

And the quarter-finals should have been played on Saturday, played on the home fields of the higher-ranked teams, with the semis played on New Year's Day.

And if the NFL insists on biting the hand that feeds it by playing on Saturday before the CFB PO ends, Congress should extend the NFL Saturday no-play date.

I know it will all work out and DL has a plan.

That said, I can't help but cringe a little when seeing all that size (even if it's depth and not sure-fire starters) leaving. I'm sure there's size coming in, but basically two 6'5" defensive backs leaving gives me a slight pause.

All will be well.
