Duck 1972 No. 2 Share Posted February 19, 2022 Alright here's the experience that the WR room needed. Whether he plays a starting role with great production or he helps our uber talented sophomore (when u usually get exponentially better than any other time in your career) WRs do their best. It's a win/win situation. Another ✔ off the list. The football gods are happy .

Smith72 Moderator No. 7 Share Posted February 19, 2022 Chase Cota looks to be a competitor with good hands! An asset for the Ducks! Welcome!
kirklandduck Moderator No. 8 Share Posted February 19, 2022 (edited) While I'm glad he's finishing his career at Oregon, I'm not head over heels excited. He's proven to have a limited ceiling and has similar stats as Brendan Schooner... he'll be a veteran presence to maybe teach the younger some things but I don't expect him to start or put up any record breaking numbers. Viking Duck No. 9 Share Posted February 19, 2022 I think it's a great pickup to build depth. You never want to burden the offspring with the accomplishments of their parents, but I have some fond memories of Chad - what a hitter!
Jon Sousa No. 10 Share Posted February 19, 2022 I was real disappointed when he didn't commit to Oregon out of HS. So... Welcome home! 1

DUCKED No. 13 Share Posted February 19, 2022 Cota wasn’t targeted much at UCLA because Kyle Phillips was the main guy, deservedly so. But one thing you rarely saw Cota do, when he was fortunate to have a pass come his way, was drop it.

If you’re comparing Mathew Stafford to Bo Nix, I think not. Nix is a serviceable passer at best.
Haywarduck No. 15 Share Posted February 19, 2022 Welcome Mr. Cota, back home. I welcome anybody Coach Lanning wants, until his recruiting proves worthy of question. Back in the day he was recruited, offered by Alabama, and Notre Dame, and decided on UCLA. After 4 years of schooling he sees the light!

And reuniting with his former OC who coached Nix when he had his best season at Auburn, will help Nix' cause. But I certainly do not think he is close to Stafford. And I don't believe Cota is close to Kupp. Brown was 'seviceable.' I think Nix' stats will be far better than Brown's stats. He is better than Brown and will, I hope, be playing in a far better system under Dillingham than Mario allowed Brown to play under.
