It is back my friends, the thread for discussing the actual game as it happens.  Now we can discuss the game here before and after, and of course have other threads about elements of the game, but the short reactions and thoughts while the game is in progress is meant for this thread.

I have had to ban a few people in the past...simply because of this thread.  They were fine during normal forum discussion, but turned into something ugly in this thread when things in the game did not go well.

Posting negative is fine, but going dark on the entire program, the future of Oregon football, the IQ and tenure of Dan Lanning over one play, one decision or even one game is too far.

No venting.  Telling us you don't like the interception and adding some salt to it is fine, but hammering us 10 times in the thread about how stupid something is--will be deleted.  This is a place to let go, but not vent.  Can you tell the difference?

Again....negative is fine!  This is the hard part of moderating, and that is explaining how 95% of the negative written is just fine.  We can be critical of player performance and coaching decisions, but we cannot get personal on them.

I really do want you all to have fun with this, and sorry for having to delve into it, but I know I need to spell this out for a few people.  Now let's have some fun discussing the first game of the Dan Lanning era!

As expected, the stands at this “neutral” site are almost entirely red. Let’s hope OBD makes that place dead silent today!

Oh good grief. Look at the stands… Is there any green at all? It looks solid red.

And they wonder why we make fun of “Neutral City?”

I think I saw a tiny sliver of green in the corner….

If Bo Nix stays within himself and makes sound plays then Oregon has a shot at this.

But that's what it looks like when you essentially get to play at home... and get a one-and-done.

Transfer from Minnesota, ran for almost 700 yards last season

No.

He catches that ball and its a touchdown. Nice touch by Nix in a tight window.

No.

A couple first downs, and no turnovers. A good punt. Now let's see what our defense can do.

No.

That 3rd down play to Irving was almost, almost there. Ducks look very composed for a 1st series of the season.

At from an offensive perspective, I think if we settle down a little bit, this could be a good game.

Nix seems to be comfortable in the offense, which it great. Now it’s up to Dillingham to call the right plays and the other skill players to execute.

No.

Irving with 2 drops to start that game.  Should have had Seven Mcgee in there.

No.

Missed tackles are seeming to be a problem, but this defense seems vastly improved over last years. I don't miss MC & TD.

Whelp... maybe not

Georgia marching down the field right after I posted that.

Defense looking confused and sloppy. Dan and Tosh need to get them to settle down.

No.

Gonzales playing like a deer in headlights.  Too easy a drive for Georgia.

No.

Linebackers and pass defenders are lazy

Ouch

Wowsa. A lot of bad angles taken by our defenders!

3rd and 11 is tough to defend as a DB if you run backwards 13 yards before you turn around.

1st series on D so it's understandable. The chance to get off the field on 3rd and long was there though.

That was way too easy. Why do we look so slow?

and..... it starts

throws are just not strong enough

No.

Nice punt.

No.

I had a feeling the offense was setting up to take a shot.

I think if you run that sort of script, you are expecting to get a guy more open than Seven.

If you are going to throw that? Maybe try 6-3, 6-5, or 6-5 instead of 5-8?

They’re still adjusting to their assignments. Brand new offense, brand new defense…practice isn’t the same as game time unfortunately.

So far, the defense looks very much like last year, soft with very poor tackling.

On Talkin' Ducks they mentioned that Oregon has been the worst in the Pac12 over the last 5 years in missed tackles.

No.

If we don’t get some pressure on their QB then 17 points is not enough.

No.

Other than Bassa getting ran over by a freight train of a TE, the front 7 looks ok to me. The DB group is off to a tough start. Georgia to me looks like they are going right at them.

That doesn't surprise me. MC did all of these blue chip recruits a disservice in the lack of developing their raw talent.

If I were DL I’d be irate at the number of missed tackles.

No.

Apparently, tackling is still optional.

No.

Dan Lanning and staff have their work cut out for them.

Bulldogs will have their backups in momentarily

No.

This is why I didn't jump on the delusional bandwagon. Let's hope for good conference play.

"Bulldogs will have their backups in momentarily"

I'm not sure that Georgia has backups. I think they just have other players.

Terrible pass by Bo. Why would you throw right into traffic like that?

There isn't a chance with him, might as well get Ty experience.

We can put the Bo Nix hype train to a halt.

Hmmm...how much leash does Bo have?

No.

14-0 but driving you are still in the game. The defense is due a stop too.

That is just a throw you can't make.
