It's a Power 2 World and OBD is Living in It!
Charles Fischer replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Nevada, if YOUR team had been hosed in the CFB Playoffs…you feel would different. But wait! That’s not all… As Oregon was ranked 12th in the nation, the last two years in a row at the end of the season in baseball, and yet we were hardly ever on television this year, not even on the Big Ten network. And it does not stop there, as we were hosed in the playoff format for the Big Ten baseball tournament. Oregon softball was hosed in the original seating, as they were ranked as high as number three in the nation, and ended up with a freaking number 16 seed? They have overcome it, but I am sick of it. if reasonable people cannot do the right thing, then we must take it from them, and I will not feel sorry considering what has happened to Our Beloved Ducks. -

So when the arrogance of the so-called power-2 reaches this level, it is hard for this observer not to root for anyone else who has a chance to make a deep run in the playoffs to beat the anointed ones. I'd still pull for the Dawgs and the Ducks but would react with glee to losses by any of the other 32 teams in question against the "outsiders". I simply like college football to much to stomach the "like it or lump it" attitude of the so-called Power-2. Disgusting IMHO. -

So much for no lead being too much for Liberty. Grein gave up a home run and another hit in the 1st, then doused the next 19 Flames in a row, until a close play at first broke the streak, but no matter, it was 13-1 Oregon by then. Good job taking out A & M, Liberty, but you got Jane'd.

" Duke [edit] Stewart enrolled at Duke University in June 2023 and took part in the Blue Devils' summer practices.[6] In October 2023, Stewart set the Duke record for the standing vertical leap (36 inches), a mark previously held by Zion Williamson." Five star recruit who signed with Duke. I sure hope this kid has high expectations from himself. I mean, I expect him to rise up. He's only 20, so still young. I thought Kel'el Ware didn't really deserve many, if any (I kid, I kid) minutes, and look at him now.

If Liberty's coach is going to do this crap, then Lombardi needs to return it in kind. Call for a balk review when ever any new Oregon batter comes up, etc. etc.

Where Oregon Football ranks among the best teams of this century The Oregon Ducks have undoubtedly been one of the best teams in college football over the past few years, routinely near the top of the rankings and in the College Football Playoff mix with Heisman Trophy contenders and dozens of players sent to the NFL draft. However, the success in Eugene extends far beyond the last few years. According to The Athletic's Stewart Mandel, the Ducks are among the best teams in all of college football when it comes to the 21st century, dating back to 2000. Mandel recently ranked the top 25 teams of the century, with the Ducks coming in at No. 7 on the list. The top 10 went as follows. 1.Ohio State Buckeyes 2.Alabama Crimson Tide 3.Oklahoma Sooners 4.Georgia Bulldogs 5.LSU Tigers 6.Clemson Tigers 7.Oregon Ducks 8.USC Trojans 9.Texas Longhorns 10. After the 11 game win streak, a loss was coming, and it sure did. The Ducks hit the wall harder than Wyllie Coyote did chasing after the Roadrunner. Murphy's Law was in play. In the previous 54 games, OBD had 39 errors. I'm not a math whiz, but that's below 1 a game. Against Nebraska they had 4! Oh, oh, Nebraska found the blueprint on how to beat Grinsell! No. He was off his game today Sandy Koufax had games like that. There is one problem though, let alone no home runs, Neville is 2-24, and he's striking out more, getting more stressed about getting a hit. I'd shuffle the line-up a bit, no need for him to be leading off, try 5th, see what that does.

Clark was also forced into 10 turnovers (Sabrina had NONE). Not the kind of triple double to write home about…

Kai likely not the only base runner to have utilized this springboard approach, and gotten away with it. Like pitchers getting caught pushing off with their pivot foot, base runners who have done this will now have to modify their take-off; otherwise, we’re in for a lot more riveting moments of watching umps staring into a little screen.

I agree. This clearly was not representative of Oregon baseball. During the broadcast it sounded like the Ducks definitely have a Regional, and a graphic showed that a top 8 seed is deserved, they had the Ducks up against 3 other contenders and Oregon was above all of them. So far, 6 of the Top 16 teams were eliminated early in their conference tournaments.
