  2. First, I read that Brady Montana needs to do some research. Joe Paterno coached games from the press box after he had knee surgery caused by a collision on the sideline. Second, I read that Mario must have hurt himself.

  4. I was almost ready to do a poll for how long it lasts, and my guess is she will get two kids from him, and then... This is a fascinating case-study of marriage and celebrity couples in the current culture. A couple of modern day issues to watch for; her biological clock was shouting, (Age 35) because if she wants kids--she had to find a simp soon. Women at that age will reject suitable matchups in their 20s, but when they get to her age--standards have to be revised. Women want a man who makes more money than her, that she looks up to. Thus why highly successful women have a very hard time finding a mate due to the very small pool of men actually above her level. Frequently the men she is attracted to in their 30s are not interested in her, but in a younger woman in their 20s because they can. Hence it was amazing that she found someone, considering the odds. One of the biggest predictors of upcoming divorce? When the woman makes more money than the man, and that is true in this case, but only by, maybe a BILLION? A highly predicting divorce element of celebrity couples? When the man is an athlete, and when he retires and is no longer in the spotlight and is just a "house-husband" caring for the kids His attraction fades with her badly, and when considering her status and career? Whew! Quite a few athletes get their divorce papers demanding half within two years of retiring. Oh yes, I know that most of you will say about me, "now THAT is one bitter ol' divorced guy," and I am just telling you what the current culture is. I did not invent or change it, as it has evolved into what it is. Everything above can be confirmed by thousands of men. There IS one thing going in Travis's favor... Even with a Pre-nup....the higher earner pays the alimony later, and he could be compensated if it ends. This is a very rare instance, but this is a textbook case of when it could happen. On the other hand, they could rise above the massive odds presented by today's culture at that age and have a happy life together. We wish for that, but the odds are... 55% of first marriages fail among typical people, not counting the massive issues listed above. Nearly two-thirds of all second marriages fail. Right at three-fourths of third marriages fail. Only 12% of those that are still in their first marriage after ten years are actually happy. (Which is what...5-6% of those who began?) My upside view is, "at least they will have some children," but in the massive majority of cases--the woman will poison the children against the divorced spouse. I've read hundreds of accounts of this, heard it tragically from fellow Duck-Buddies, and experienced it myself. I recognize that so much of what is above is grim and negative, but it can be confirmed if you do your homework. I just thought this was such a unique case to watch over time...how right will I be? (And yes, I do hope for the best for them)

CBS's Tom Fornelli's Week 1 Power Rankings. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-power-ratings-ohio-state-texas-lead-list-of-top-teams-heading-into-2025-season/ Only 5 out of the top 12 come from the SEC. 4 B1G teams in the top 10, No. 1 Ohio State, No. 5 Penn State, No. 8 OBD, and No. 10 Michigan. I do like a 12-team PO team worthy ranking.
  8. Brent Pry of Virginia Tech may have the current record of losing one score games, at least by the percentage of losses. His current record stands at 1 - 9. That record does not endear a coach to its fans. Nebraska has to be in the running for losing that type of game as well.

  13. The 2025 preseason FPI should result in a name change to Eastern Shame Programming Network. There's bias and then there's this nonsense that has AP No. 4 Clemson ranked No. 16, the highest-ranked ACC team on the board, and behind USC and Michigan. The highest-ranked B12 team before Week 0 was No. 18 K State. FPI predicted the Wildcats would overcome a Cyclone in Dublin; didn't happen. SEC-SEC-SEC! 12 of the 16 SEC teams are in the FPI top 25. Thus, unless Arkansas, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State are playing one another, every SEC game is a top 25 vs. top 25 matchup. Hide the Women and Children! If not for the requirement of the five highest-ranked conference champs being in the PO field, Nos. 1 Texas, 2 Georgia, 3 Alabama, all three with PO 1st rond byes, 8 Tennessee, 9 A&M, 10 Mississippi, 11 South Carolina, and 12 LSU would be in the 2025-26 PO field. First out would be No. 13 Florida. 🤪 Make no mistake, I am not blaming the messengers, Steven A. and NJ Duck, but this tripe should have been left in the cellar with the rest of the manure and mushrooms. Instead, it will be used all season long by ESPN to tout the "SEC, a veritable gauntlet like no other ever witnessed in the Known Universe." (At least before postseason, right? 😁) ESPN's Bill Connolly's SP+ is SEC centric, but does not come close to this 🤬. Beat the Bobcats!
  14. Decades ago, the NCAA lost its first seminal lawsuit, and in the process, its monopoly over college football broadcasts. The race was on to sell team and conference broadcast rights to the highest corporate bidders. The root cause of these problems is not only on corporate giants battling one another, but the NCAA's lack of foresight, what's new, in deciding that in-person game attendance mattered more than making huge bank for its members, and broadcasting more than one, and on occasion two games every weekend. Imagine the money the NCAA could have brought in if it cogently and collectively marketed its members' college football inventory, including a postseason it should have taken control over, like it does its NCAA basketball inventory. There might have been no conference shuffling of the decks intended to bring in more media dollars. These occasional corporate struggles stink. However, take it from an old-timer, these dust-ups are preferable to having but one college and pro game to watch on a weekend. While I raise Cain, try to avoid the waving Cane.
  15. Thank you, Charles, for another superb editing job. When researching this article, it occurred to me that Lincoln Riley may have been better off staying later with the Sooners and playing SEC competition, or perhaps the Trojans should play all of their games in Las Vegas? The bookend wins against LSU and Texas A&M in the LV Raiders Allegiant Stadium were both hard-fought games that went down to the wire. The type of game that SC consistently lost to B1G opponents, including losses to Minnesota, Maryland, and Washington teams playing without Blue Chip Rosters. In 2025, no team wants to flip the road record more than the Trojans—4 road losses with the one win coming in Pasadena against UCLA. OBD was the only Left Coast newbie in 2024 that found success two and three time zones away. SC should find road wins on the road at Purdue and Northwestern, but road games against Illinois and especially, OBD, will be difficult, as will a road game against No. 6 Notre Dame. There is a chance that No. 30 SC could travel to Eugene for the penultimate game of the regular season, and play No. 7 OBD with B1G things on the line in-conference, and Big things on the line playoff-wise. Then again, there is also a chance that Lincoln Riley could be Fighting On for his job? Football Saturday's in the air, Bag them Cats!
  16. Great research Jon, as I had NO idea that so many B1G games were so close. Superb examples you cite!

  18. I have Dish TV and have not missed a game. If needed I'll do a 7 day free trial for one game if it's streamed. Yeah it sucks but it is what it is these days.
  19. I don’t see it as a fall as much as a choice if they continue down the same path. It’s not required to be a football factory if an academic institution wants to say no thanks. If they’re in denial in some corners at the top, that’s a different scenario. I would personally choose and embrace the Ivy route if I was Stanford. Harvard doesn’t seem to be suffering. OSU and WSU are just wannabes that have more in common with Big Sky than P4. Ha!
  20. The real tragedy is that 300-500 kids have ruined access to paid education for possibly a million others. I stopped being a fan of G5 visits to the P4 when the SEC kept heralding their vaunted conference schedule (while scheduling 4 automatic victories using the G5 as fodder). But it was a viable model for plenty of kids that were all state at home, but not quite good enough to land a P4 scholarship. I thought it was real cool that these kids got on TV too. Now, a bunch of no names as far as I'm concerned are getting paid millions, and the hundreds of thousands (male and female) that worked as hard in high school are faced with dwindling opportunities to earn a scholarship as a result of their efforts. As far as OSU/WSU/Cal and Stanford go, they made their bed in the 2010s. They ignored a full 10% of their respective Universities revenue base figuring times would never change. Cal and Stanford had a more nuanced situation given they are both heavy laden with pro sports as the prime source of entertainment, but this elitist (dare I say I am being a hypocrite here lol) mentality relegates them to exactly what they deserve-Ivy League status in their major sports. Heck, I actually hope they end up getting dropped by the ACC when the next round of conference realignment settles. They deserve to be little sisters of the poor. Pride cometh before the fall.
  21. It's 2025 and we're talking about nuclear reactors on the moon, colonizing Mars and needing ten different service providers to just follow your dang football team.
  22. These battles are precisely why I switched to IPTV. The blacked out Florida/Utah opener from a couple of seasons ago sealed the deal for me.
  23. Mega corps are goin' to "megacorp". Us lowly "data points" are just that and not truly part of the overall equation as long as they can get more of the dinero'. Sad to see but nothing will change anytime soon, so we are all along for the ride. One way or another I will partake in watching and cheering OBD to their first Natty...even if I have to "slog" through the accessibility BS. Go Quackers (t-minus 4days/4hours)
  24. I got an antenna for my TV, so I could get FOX, ABC, CBS and NBC. It doesn't help me with ESPN, Fox Sports or recording, but at least I can watch most of the big games lives, if my cable provider can't come to a deal. I had to drop Dish TV because they didn't have FOX(?) for almost a year.
