I feel bad for Allar but it might be a blessing in disguise for all parties involved.

For whatever reason, Coach Lanning and staff have not recruited well on the offensive line and have had to rely on transfers to plug holes in the roster. I’d like to hear from those in the know what has happened. Are they evaluation misses, injuries, lack of development or something else? Mario was a mediocre head coach but at least he recruited and developed elite offensive lines, and he is doing the same at Miami.

I am taking comfort in our Oregon State win.

I just found out that Allar is done for the year. He took a lot of abuse from his own fan base. Now they get to see what life is like without him.

We can gripe about this and that for the rest of the evening, but the simple fact is that Indiana was the better football team today. Just like we were the better football team 365 days (give or take a few hours) ago against Ohio State.

You know, there a ton of fans out there where I would enjoy what is happening to Penn State. (Like Buckeye fans?) 'Lion fans I do not wish this upon. PSU fans don't deserve this, but as William Munny said to Lil-Bill in Unforgiven....

Oh well... at least we're not Penn Srate.

I’m not worried. As crazy as it sounds, I don’t think we’ll turn into Penn State. The reason? Dan Lanning. Will he take OBD to the playoffs this season? I don’t know, but he won’t allow us to suck.

You cannot win a game when you lose both LOS. The Indiana pass rush and an undersized CB named Ponds showed up. Matayo et al? How was Cignetti in the CFB coaching weeds before he was in his 60s? Last season's champ lost two regular-season games, and a Natty is still in sight. But, as the Good Doctor notes above, don't lose twice, don't screw up at Rutgers. How badly does Penn State SUCK? How can a team with that talent keep on choking? Jim Knowles? $3M a year? One B1G coach has hiring DCs down Pat(ricia.) And it's not Jimmy Franklin. It's the guy TOSU fans wanted to run out of Columbus last November. OBD's FG kicker missed what could have been a momentum-shifter FG at Penn State, and his chip shot miss today led to a 6-point end of the first half swing. In physical, smashmouth ball games, you can't miss these pressure kicks. As for the dings at Dante above. It's hard to complete passes when folks, smaller than your O-line guys, but quicker, are in your face. When your 'better athletes' cannot separate from lesser athletes downfield, including a 5'9" CB who left no Ponds for Ducks to land in. When the play calling is timid all day, along with puzzling player personnel decisions, well? But returning to sentence one above, you lose the LOS, you lose. OBD was outcoached. Lesser athletes won the day. Don't turn today into bad Knights.

A disappointing loss to say the least, but now the team (and the fans) know where we stand. It's a young team, and regardless of how much Dan Lanning will say that it starts with him, the coaches, and the "poor" game planning, the reality is, we just got out worked. I think in hindsight, the signs were there during the Northwestern and PSU games, but it's easy to overlook them when we win. This team is very, very young, and in the era of NIL and Covid-carryover years, team age, maturity, and experience seems to matter quite a lot more than the number of stars next to the players' names.

I don’t like that I won, but there was too much bad karma on social media. Everybody was talking about how Indiana has never beaten a top 10 team.

FYI, his prediction was Indiana 27-24 TO’s - 0 sacks - 1 Passing Yards - 207 (off by 20). Great job by him. Having a Kool-Aid allergy helps.

Observations The O line is not championship caliber. Coach Cig had his team better prepared than Lanning did and I’d say coached better during the game as well. Didn’t see a plan B from Will Stein when the passing game got bottled up. OBD may end up 11-1 or 10-2 maybe be a playoff team but that seems like the ceiling this year.
