What Were You Surprised By? What NEEDS to be Improved vs. Indiana?
It seemed like Penn State picked up more 3rd and long conversions than they should have.

I'm picking Nits 😁when I ask the voters to explain how TOSU's seven-point win in Columbus versus the not-so Golden Arches is better than flying through a White Out and emerging with the W? 🤪!

Our Beloved Ducks: Is it SAFE to Dream?
OBD could be living the dream this season in Eugene. Looks like the same nightmare in South Central, with Freddy Krueger disguised as Lincoln Riley. 😁 https://trojanswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/trojans/football/2025/09/28/usc-football-loss-illinois-achingly-familiar-story/86403446007/?utm_source=smg-trojanswire-strada&utm_medium=email&utm_c

Our Beloved Ducks: Is it SAFE to Dream?
ESPN playoff prediction post Week 5 has OBD as the No. 3 seed. After a bye (🤔), OBD would play the winner of No. 11 Tennessee at No. 6 Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl. Would OBD be better off with the 5-seed and a first-round game against the G6 representative? On3College Football Playoff Prediction: ESPN projects CFP To....

What Were You Surprised By? What NEEDS to be Improved vs. Indiana?
I was surprised that targeting wasn’t called. I think DL will need to make sure this team knows that Cignetti wants to shove their faces in the dirt, and take their girlfriends.

Our Beloved Ducks: Is it SAFE to Dream?
OBD have far too many roadblocks this year to be looking forward beyond the very next game. Yes, we just beat a good team in a hostile environment 2500 miles away, but I am old enough to remember the last time Indiana came to Eugene. Unbueno. I feel good about two games: Minnesota at home and Wisconsin in a bowl full of tie dye (hopefully everybody gets the wardrobe memo). Iowa and Rutgers are going to be nail biters I am afraid. Washington in Seattle? Pissed USC? Yes, we should win each one, but a mistake or two could doom each of these games for us easily. After watching the Ala/GA game yesterday I am NOT convinced we have level of physical ability. Yet.

Our Beloved Ducks: Is it SAFE to Dream?
Every year we can dream, but this year we can really ponder. We need to keep improving and adapting to our strengths through the rest of the season.

Our Beloved Ducks: Is it SAFE to Dream?
The Indiana game is much bigger than any of us probably imagined. Mendoza has looked great this far, although the Iowa defense held him to just over two hundred yards and under sixty percent passing. Oregon has a far better secondary and better line than Iowa. So that and the fact it's in Autzen leads me to believe Oregon should take care of business. The game at Iowa could be interesting, but it's nothing compared to what the Ducks just went through. I see another undefeated regular season and a chance at revenge in the B1G Title game vs Ohio State. Personally I think Oregon wants that rubber match more than any other potential opponent. Ohio State most likely wants it as well. They can't stand the fact that Michigan has won three conference titles and newcomer Oregon has won one since their last title game appearance and win. Old school B1G programs thought all the West Coast schools were too soft to compete in the old school conference. Well Michigan, Ohio State, and now Penn State twice have found out the Ducks have bite. Oregon is a tier one B1G program.

Post-Game Thread: How 'Bout Our DUCKS?
Sad thing is that every single penalty killed a drive. That's how small the margin of error was in that game. Also... The Harkney unsportsmanlike probably won't have been called in 90% of games. I couldn't see see it. However on the whole the refs did just let them play it out. I saw a bunch of uncalled holds on the Penn State offensive line and I saw Isaiah World get away with some holds on Sutton as he got worked last night. It was a physical and brutal game.

Post-Game Thread: How 'Bout Our DUCKS?
More thoughts: Dan Lanning's reaction to winning was priceless, and his comment was notable: " These players have an elite level of focus". Bookmark that. Dante's reaction after winning was very interesting, he wasn't happy as much as it was pure relief and exhaustion. I think he final put those UCLA demons in the rear view mirror. I haven't seen so many plays with an RB lead blocking since the death of the I - formation. Davidson saw the most snaps of any RB for this purpose. Hill is our best running back with the ball in his hands, and everyone knows it. As soon as he gets to be reliable in pass blocking he'll be RB #1. Raise your hands if you didn't know that the top of the blades of grass are considered "down". I sure as heck didn't. Prior to ultra high definition tv slow motion replay it wasn't relevant either. Maybe Dwyer was actually down and technology wasn't good enough to capture it I also didn't know kicking someone's foot to make them trip over themselves was a 15 yard penalty. The yard duties strike again. I could do just fine without playing a Knowles' led defense ever again. 17 points at the end of regulation and I thought our offense played great. That defense is up there with the prior Ohio State and Michigan defense.

Oddly enough I think the Ducks need to settle on some runningback rotation. Hill and Davidson are just so good they need more touches. Whittington just isn't good enough I hate to say. Hill was getting yards that Whittington wasn't. Hill was running for around 8 yards per carry against THAT defense. Get the guy the ball! He also had a receiving touchdown on a screen which is an extension of the run game.

What Were You Surprised By? What NEEDS to be Improved vs. Indiana?
I'll have to rewatch the game at some point but I'm not sure how many deep shots were available. Moore wasn't sacked (at least I don't think he was) but he didn't have a ton of time to throw and let a play develop. Jim Knowles really didn't want a repeat of last year's regular season Ohio State game and I think he was trying to implement the same plan he used in the Rose Bowl and try to take away a deep shot. However, credit to Gary Bryant for making his presence felt. Some big time catches. Penn State Washington certainly keyed in on Dak Moore and had him well covered. Many catches that Moore was making in previous weeks were a whole lot more difficult.

What Were You Surprised By? What NEEDS to be Improved vs. Indiana?
What a game. Still on cloud nine but I'll try to focus on the task at hand. Surprises The run D is truly legit. #3 on the road and running is what they do but not last night. Wow is an understatement. The freshman are legit. Frosh DBs eliminating their passing game, leading team in receiving and rushing yards. Wow again. This portaled O line is legit. no sacks, dominated run passing and time of possession stats in that environment in first big game together. Another wow. Improvements I think a new RB1 and 2 have made themselves known. I'd like to see that become official. A couple self inflicted penalties from O line cost two drives, one to start the game, the other continued the late game momentum swing. Less of that please. A deeper D line rotation may have helped keep the game under control down the stretch. A minor flaw but I'm knit picking a third gripe. Overall an A+ effort by an A+ team in an A+ required environment. Well done Ducks!

And with UCLA's loss to Northwestern... Our Ducks hold the LONE win on the left coast in the B1G this weekend!

What Were You Surprised By? What NEEDS to be Improved vs. Indiana?
I think on offense we’ll keep improving. Our best playmakers are the youngsters and eventually they’ll all start…3rd down conversions have reflected youth to date imo. Dante just took a quantum leap forward beyond dominating terrible teams and being on cruise control. He was fantastic. Pass D is a menace, run D is just fine…most teams aren’t Penn State’s rushing attack and we looked damn good on that front for 3 quarters at least.
