A New Law Proposed to Allow Conferences to Band Together to Sell Media Rights.
It makes sense on some levels, pooling the product thus negating conferences from competing with each other for TV revenues. It would be a massive money maker and thus the increasing competition would almost certainly drive up the cost for the networks. That said, why would the B1G and the SEC go along with this when they're currently getting the lion's share of the TV revenue? Only by force and I doubt congress has the ability or even the inclination to institue such a system. The creation of a super conference would probably alleviate a lot of resistance from the B1G/SEC but only if the bottom line for these conferences improves. Otherwise why would they voluntarily give up their increasing revenue and power to support lesser conferences/teams? In such a scenario the G5 (G6?) conferences would only be getting the scraps anyway so how does that improve parity and provide stability to the non-revenue sports? Splitting the FBS into two divisions and letting them each negotiate their own consolidated TV deals might make the most sense, but again I just don't see the desire or fortitude from congress to make this happen. Right now the B1G/SEC/ESPN are the majority shareholders and they like they power/control they have over the sport and I just don't see that changing.

Dante Moore NIL Value Skyrocketing
He'll be tied into the rookie salary scale in the NFL but that's still a whole lot of bread if he plays like this for the balance of the season and is a top 10 draft pick. And going pro gets the three year clock running on the next show me the huge money deal. He walks off after winning a Natty and it's all good. 😎

The idea is to eliminate antitrust concerns for the schools and the media. It's another attempt, along with the House settlement, to preserve college sports as they were before the introduction of NIL. I believe the state of Washington has a law on the books allowing NIL. Right, Senator?

It doesn't help the Power 2. It could help the ACC and the B12, in theory, if they went to the marketplace together. But why would ESPN and Fox pay more for inventory they already own? Texas Tech multi-billion-dollar oilman, Cody Campbell, who bought a talented roster for his Red Raiders football team, came up with this idea to save 'college sports.' A/K/A save Texas Tech football. Texas and Texas A&M are in the Super Conference, no doubt. Texas Tech?

A New Law Proposed to Allow Conferences to Band Together to Sell Media Rights.
Super league. Honest question, is there anything currently prohibiting this? I know they cite the 1961 law, but I doubt that would hold up, and if it did, I suppose that’s the reason for a super conference. A media rights law from 1961 might as well be hieroglyphics imo. We barely even had color TV at that point.

Personally, I do not see how this helps the non-power 2. If the BIG and SEC band together, then the others will get less table scraps. College-reform bill could generate extra billions by allowing conferences to pool their TV rights - Yahoo Sports

Oregon vs Indiana Game Time Announced
They'll be playing at the Cotton Bowl (Texas State Fair) in Dallas, but with Mateer out for a few weeks and Arch manning looking more like Arch Bunker, it doesn't seem as compelling a match-up as it once was. The only draw for the Gameday crew is smoked emu drumsticks, calf fries and deep fried Little Debbie cakes.

Week 5 AP Poll
I’m with you. The AP poll is a complete joke and has been for a very long time. Not only would Georgia be favored, but they would likely beat a few of those teams by more than one TD. Having people that don’t watch all the games rank teams by the number of losses they have, without consideration of their strength of schedule, might be the dumbest thing in sports.

I have Texas ranked 13th in the Reddit CFB Poll. Frankly, that's a bit too generous. BetMGM is stealing money from Texans with those odds, which is fine.

Week 5 AP Poll
This is going to sound like a "homer" comment and I don't mean to overrate this young, relatively inexperienced bunch of BullDawgs, but I see 4-5 teams rated higher than them who would be underdogs (gambling odds) in a head-to-head meetings on a neutral field. I remind you that the Dawgs lost to the same Bama team in week 4 last season and dropped way down in the polls. So what happened. They learned from their mistakes and ended up winning the SEC. They, like the Ducks, earned an ill-fated Bye (remember all Bye teams lost their initial playoff game). My point though is that polls are nearly meaningless at this point in the season. Saturday night, I congratulated my dear Duck fanatic buddy on the PSU win and said they should probably rise to #2 in the polls. His reply: Why not #1? I cautiously reminded him that polls this early don't mean squat and said the early ascendance To #1 last year really didn't work so well last year did it? So I ended up besting his predictive ability on most of the polls, but I was quick to point out that the Sunday morning ESPN poll did indeed have the Ducks at #1.

Geo, likely a good call. But GameDay was in Norman for the Sooners vs. Wolverines game, and I think they could be planning to be on site for a Longhorns visit to Athens.

The Oregon-Penn State Rivalry is Here
Very interesting and well written article sir. The topic of rivalries , both new and old is a great topic to explore. Penn State is like the third wheel in most of it's B1G matchups. Oregon came in with Washington, but there's always room for more.

More Fallout, Facts, and Funnies from the B1G Victory...
Thank you, Charles. Great stuff! A tip of the hat to Penn State grad Todd Blackledge. He was informative and at no time showed bias except for acknowledging before kickoff that he was excited to be back for a White Out. Some really nuanced and in-depth comments, including picking up the OBD OL communication as shown above. Todd was generous at the conclusion of the 2nd OT with his praise for Dante Moore and Dan Lanning. I think he did a much better job with this game than he did in Autzen last season, covering the Ohio State game. The odds shown above now favor Indiana ahead of Penn State. 🤪 Amazing. Indiana will be well prepared for the game in Autzen on 10/11. Cig acknowledged that his team was humbled on both LOS in last season's road losses to Ohio State and Notre Dame. He picked the portal perfectly to improve both LOS. And Mendoza is an improvement at QB over the very good Kurtis Rourke. The man has lost two football games at Indiana. One against the 2024-25 National Champion and the other against the 2024-25 runner-up, Notre Dame. Humble the Hoosiers! Put Out That Cig!
