MBB: Oregon Beat by No. 21 Auburn 84-73
Shelstad and Bittle were not very good in this game. Shelstad especially can't go 4-17 and 1-11 from 3, that's atrocious, he got outplayed by Pettiford big time. I want to look at this half-full, but I really don't know if this team has an extra gear, I think their stars can play better, but I don't see an extra gear that this team is going to get to, they've played 5 games now and they haven't once played a game that you would say they played better than a B-, at some point that's just who they are, a sloppy team that doesn't have great shooting and doesn't move the ball on offense. I was saying the opposite last year, I thought that team could be special and I was proven wrong, so hopefully I'm wrong again!😂

Auburn traditionally has some horses. Though this is the first game without Bruce Pearl as coach. 10-1 vs current B1G members in last 11. It was probably a respectable Ducks showing against the No. 21 ranked team. 11-23-22 – 43-42 Northwestern (neutral) 12-18-22 – 71-74 at USC 12-21-22 – 84-61 at Washington 3-16-23 – 83-75 Iowa (NIT) 12-9-23 – 104-76 Indiana (neutral) 12-17-23 – 91-75 USC 12-14-24 – 91-53 Ohio State (neutral) 12-21-24 – 87-69 Purdue 3-28-25 – 78-65 Michigan (neutral) 3-30-25 – 70-65 Michigan St (neutral) 11-24-25 – 87-73 Oregon 11-25-25 vs Michigan

Sloppy game with 18 turnovers that's the bad new. The good news is this team worked hard tonight and kept it close for most the game against the 21st team in the nation. If the Ducks get their offensive time right on a few more of those those mistimed passes and those go from turnovers to two points.

My, how the worm turned in the final 7 minutes

A neutral court loss to Auburn won’t hurt at all. Not sure what they need to do to clean up the turnovers, but that part was awful tonight. On the positive side, we out rebounded a very good team by 13. Just clean up the turnovers and this will be a very good team.

We're a bubble team right now, we don't take care of the basketball, we don't hit free throws, we don't have an extra gear to really up the defensive pressure on good teams. We'll win some games, but we're going to have to improve a lot to compete and win games against good teams. Shelstad has to play better, he has to be a threat to take the ball to the rim, he got outplayed tonight by Pettiford. At times we get bogged down trying to get the ball into Bittle on the block, and it just becomes a struggle. Evans was good in the first half, then just kind of disappeared in the second half. A very frustrating game overall. Can't do anything about it now, need to bounce back and beat SDSU then get a win in the final game.

Overall the team looks better. If they can learn how to take care of the ball, they will be fine. Simpkins was a mess tonight. I know he had 22 points, but you can’t have 7 turnovers in one game from the guard position.

Ruh-Roh! Do You Think Trojans Are GOOD SPORTS After Losing to Oregon?
USC continuously trotting out their previous NC's from two decades ago is not unlike that cheerleader/prom queen after too many mimosas reminding everyone of what she used to be

2025 CFB Playoff Information, Rankings Show Results
No Surprise, B1G or otherwise. IMO, ESPN will extend the 12/1/25 date when the parties have to agree to a new PO format to 1/23/26. I think there is a good chance that we will see the PO expand to 16 teams and possibly more next season. If the NCAA managed the PO, there would already be a 16-team or more PO field. https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/breaking-news/article/espn-college-football-playoff-finalizing-agreement-to-extend-new-playoff-format-deadline-to-jan-23-202658379.html The PO committee is making it up as it goes along. Dropping Alabama with four wins over committee-ranked SEC teams from fourth to tenth shook up the Dixie powers that be. And what sense does it make for the ACC and B12 to reject a format that assures two teams in the PO field with a chance for additional at-large teams? When the B1G and the SEC were granted superior PO format voting power, the ACC and B12 acknowledged that CFB has a Power 2. Even Stewart Mandel of The Athletic, who has continually excorciated the proposed AQ B1G PO format, now believes a PO with AQs will not destroy the sport.

TAKE CARE OF THE BASKETBALL!!!!!!!! We make so many dumb decisions, passing to guys not open, not being decisive, dribbling too much. Shelstad looks scared to even attempt to drive the ball, he has to be a threat to go to the hole, he doesn't even make an attempt.

Turnovers are just killing us, they aren't even forced, it's just stupid decisions and not being fundamentally sound.

Ball movent is picking up which is good overall but timing is still off. 5 Games in and this team is starting the process of gelling can't wait to see them at the half way mark.

The Ducks team is shaping up. They look athletic, quick and capable. Dana can shape these guys into a better team. Auburn presents a formidable but beatable opponent. The remainder of the game should be entertaining and revealing about our Ducks.

Yes, they closed the half well, encouraging to see. Pettiford is winning the point guard battle, need Jackson to even it out a bit.

Oregon vs. USC was the Game this Season Needed
USC's #1 recruiting class is way over hyped. Some four and five star guys mixed in with a glut of three stars. There are only 22 positions so 34 recruits just means they recruited a bunch of backups to backups that will just portal out in a year or two anyway. Also that many roster additions will make it difficult to add many significant pieces from the portal. Meanwhile. OBD's recruiting class is small in number but loaded in star power allowing the Ducks to add more impact ready portal players if needed. Don't get me wrong I will greatly enjoy SUC riding the hype train to delusion town yet again only to have the bubble burst for the umteenth time post Carrol.

Wow 37-37 at the half. I tuned in late but liked what I saw the last 5 minutes of the half.

Frustrating, so sloppy on offense, very little ball movement, no drives to the rim, Shelstad needs to go to the rim more than he does, doesn't feel like teams really respect him as a driver. Need better free throw shooting, need to box out the shooter on shots, it's just not good enough. Edit: Tie game at the half, I am pleased to see us in a game with a top 25 opponent without playing a clean game, we're switching defenses well, we rebounded better as the game continued, shooting is decent. Evans is really working hard down low, need more from Shelstad to really take the game.

MBB: Oregon Beat by No. 21 Auburn 84-73
Turnovers and defensive rebounding has been bad, other facets have been decent to good, but we won't win games giving up a offensive rebound on half of Auburn's shots, and turning it over every third possession.

MBB: Oregon Beat by No. 21 Auburn 84-73
It’s going to be hard to win if Auburn gets twice as many shots. Settle down guys.
-
MBB: Oregon Beat by No. 21 Auburn 84-73
First thing I see is a Auburn team that is much more active and much more hungry for loose balls, need to fight through screens better, need to rebound. We're going to struggle in the half court. It's way early of course, but a bunch of turnovers already.

Brock Thomas
For a walk-on qb to make backup in this day and age is amazing. This is no disrespect to Novosad or Moga, just amazement at the effort by Thomas. From what little we've seen from those two, it's clear we think they could manage playing D1 football. What an example of "never, never give up". It will be interesting to see what happens in the transfer portal. Akili Smith Jr is more than capable, young Beaver is promising, someone (something) has to give(go). We will see. Meanwhile, we know coaches have a keen eye for qb's. We seem to be in capable hands.
