  5. I told everybody who would listen that LSU would take down Clemson, the most overhyped team in America. Clemson was as badly overhyped as a team as Arch Manning was as a QB and presumed Heisman winner. I do think that Arch will become a pretty fair college QB, but he has neither the arm nor (this year) the receivers to be a superstar. At this point, I certainly wouldn't write Texas off as a serious Natty contender. They lost a close game to a pretty fair football team at that team's place but have one of the most talented rosters in the game. Bama is more of a puzzle to me, although my Georgia sources have been saying all Spring and Summer that their lauded offensive line is all recruiting stars and hasn't proven itself in the heat of battle. These guys seemed to have nailed that one based on Saturday's results in Tallahassee.
  6. QBs don't target WRs they don't trust. They don't trust them to be open, run the right route, or catch the ball. Sometimes maybe it's lack familiarity, not building that trust in the off season and camps. Partly why I was so excited about Malik is how frequently Moore was willing to send the ball his way in the first game. Moore trusts what he is capable of. I do expect it to carry over to this Saturday, and if it does, we'll all notice because I expect Moore to air it out if our OL can buy a little time against the rush.
  7. Definitely petty. It’s akin to the "but our academics are better" argument often brought out by grumpy fans of old. The NIL era is what it is. Don't hate the playa; Hate the game. But...happy to see Dan take the high road. Well done sir.
  8. There's that Fusky style upper crustified eddification again!
  9. The infamy of the "Texas is BACK!" call was when they beat ND in the 1st game of the season. It turned later that both teams sucked. 1 data point doesn't make a trend. We'll just have to see a few more games to even begin to have an idea of how good these first wins and losses really are. That's why I'm fine with the rankings right, because as long as they are in the ballpark of reasonableness they did fine.
  10. Doesn't the CFP committee do their own rankings? IMO the pre CFB rankings are just for clicks. They give some credence for media like ESPN, Yahoo, Fox etc to have some fodder to throw out to those interested. In the end the only poll that counts is the one that comes out on Tuesday Nov 4th every other one that comes out from the CFP after that one.
  11. Clemson also has SMU, Duke, and FSU at home, and road games at Louisville and South Carolina, both teams it lost to at home last season. After A&M, the only games that could be troublesome for the Irish are SC in South Bend, and at Arkansas and Pitt. Other than No. 19 A&M, there are no currently ranked teams on ND's schedule. Assuming the PO Ct. truly values SOS, LSU had the best win of the weekend, taking down No. 4 Clemson on the road. That's a CBB Quad 1+ win. LSU plays Florida, South Carolina, and A&M in Baton Rouge. Road games at Ole Miss, Bama, and Oklahoma will be tough. That's six games of the next 11 games vs. six teams currently ranked in the AP top 25. GULP!

  16. Oklahoma State had the backing of T Boone Pickens for many years but he passed in 2019 with an estimated net worth of $900,000,000. On the other hand Phil Knight is still with us and has an estimated net worth of 33 Billion.

  18. College Football Analyst believes Dante Moore will be a future Top 10 NFL Draft Pick After seeing Dante Moore throw in person, this college football anlysist believes the Ducks' starting QB will be a future Top 10 pick.
  19. Oklahoma State is the bitter little brother that Oregon State could only dream to be. The Cowboys refused under any circumstance to play Oklahoma after the Sooners didn't force the SEC to take them as a pair. Think of all the players they could get with the revenue of continuing to get a home game against their biggest foe every other year.

  21. The Ducks were in full pads Tuesday as they prepare to host Oklahoma State on Saturday. The Oregon football team was in full pads Tuesday, one of the team's most physical practices of this week as the Ducks prepare to host Oklahoma State on Saturday (12:30 p.m., CBS). Following Tuesday's practice, local media met with quarterback Dante Moore, offensive lineman Alex Harkey and defensive backs Aaron Flowers. Video of those interviews is embedded below. University of Oregon AthleticsFootball Practice Report: Sept. 2 - University of Oregon...The Ducks were in full pads Tuesday as they prepare to host Oklahoma State on Saturday.
  22. I think we’ll get an idea about a few of these teams after week 3. LSU is going to be tested against Florida and I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose. Miami has USF, Clemson has Ga. Tech and Notre Dame has A&M. Those should all be good tests.
  23. I don’t think it’s a good look to the team when the coach starts making excuses for the loss before the game is even played.
  24. I've debated the importance of polls in my head. If the polls were eliminated I wonder how we would get a top 25 or more importantly top 12 when it comes time to seed the playoffs. For example how would we pick the number three or four teams from the multi bid leagues?
  25. Other thoughts... I think LSU is too high they get a lot of credit for beating Clemson but I think Clemson was overrated as it was as well. Miami and Notre Dame both have lots of talent and are certainly top 15 teams but not so sure on top 10. Granted... I don't think there are many true top 10 teams right now. We are still quite early in the whole process.
  26. Benson certainly could be a huge wild card, that might pay unexpected dividends this year (and possibly even next if he gets his second JUCO season back). Lily Crane even wrote an article for SI.com called: "Oregon Duck's Malik Benson: One of College Football's Most Overlooked Players?" For those unfamiliar, Benson played every game for two season for JUCO powerhouse Hutchinson CC in Kansas. He caught 97 passes for 2,152 yards and 21 TDs there, and emerged as the #1 overall JUCO recruit and a mid four star committing to Alabama. His first year there he played in all 14 games but only ended up with 13 catches for 162 yards and 1 TD in a role as sometimes WR3. He transferred to FSU, presumably looking for a bigger role, then hurt his foot in their Spring game. From there he played in all 12 games of FSU's unhappy 2-10 campaign. He was their second leading WR with 25 catches for 311 yards and 1 TD (with the highest per target success rate, second highest yards per target, and second highest explosiveness rate among their WRs). As Solar points out, he ran a blazing 10.4 in high school and I've found a couple places giving him praise for "polished route running". Other reports have used: "explosive", "a slippery open field runner", "good balance and the ability to break tackles", and "a special athlete with major big-play ability". His somewhat limited impact so far at the FBS level? Described as being behind Jermaine Burton (Cincinnati) and Isiah Bond (Cleveland) at Alabama (and possibly not the best fit for the offense Alabama was running for Milroe); and, just being caught up in everything going wrong at FSU. I also found one note from FSU in 2024 (for whatever it is worth), similar to what was sometimes expressed in regards to Evan Stewart last year, that he often appeared on film to break open in the deep field, but for whatever reason, seldom received a target.
  27. Alabama fans don't know how to cope with this Jon. They want DeBoer gone yesterday, he's turned the program into "Jello" apparently. They think he is gone if they don't make the playoffs and the replacement is going to be one of three guys. 1.) Kirby Smart 2.) Ryan Day 3.) Dan Lanning That's the list, DeBoer and his 60 million buyout means nothing to them. Not to mention the buyouts in those three guys own contracts.
