  1. Past hour
  2. I’ve been waiting for this so I could finally let go and move on to Indiana. Just the little behind the scenes of insight we are provided make me wanna run through a brick wall for these young men. Every time I see coach Lanning behind the scenes reminds how close we were to hiring someone else, and how many of us on this forum were skeptical. I thought he was gonna bail for sure when Alabama came knocking. When he stayed I decided then and there that all the ghosts of the past were dead and buried. It’s not if he can win a championship, but when he wins it I’m never calling it a “natty”, that’s what the old Ducks fan in me would have called it. I’ll call it a “chip” because it’ll just be a little piece of the legacy he builds here.
  3. It seemed like a couple of the most important completions by Allar were made on his way to the turf... Was it luck, or incredible poise in the grasp of an Oregon defender, as the D reacted to the QB's peril, rather than minding their assignment?
  4. I hope he stays, but if he does transfer I’d like to see him go to Dilly at ASU.
  5. Odds are, with Whit gone at the end of this season, and potentially a couple of the other players looking for greener pastures, this could be a brilliant move by Lanning and Hughes.
  6. Thanks, OregonDucks. That Joel Klatt interview on the Herd was well worth the listen.
  7. Oregon's Dan Lanning Breaks Down His Viral Emotions After Beating Penn StateCoach Dan Lanning showed a lot of emotions following the Oregon Ducks' road win against the Penn State Nittany Lions in week 5. What did Lanning say about the victory? How are the Ducks utilizing the bye week? 8. Since posting above, I read the article attached at the top of this thread as well as an article on 247. The latter says Hughes has not indicated that he wants to transfer and quotes Lanning as saying he wants to keep him.
  9. Joel Klatt agrees that Penn State is running the wrong offensive system for Drew Allar (4:24).
  10. Today
  11. There will definitely be some takers, it's just a matter of what level they are. I'm willing to bet that Hughes could still get a call from a reasonably upper power 4 team, no idea who, but with the production he had at Tulane, I'm willing to bet somebody will have a spot for him. Makes no sense to stay here when you have two freshmen who are already ahead of you in the pecking order.
  12. Not sure, but I suspect that it’s not as simple as saying “I am going to transfer.” He needs to have a place to go that wants and needs him. If I recall correctly, lots of young players put their names in the portal and there are no takers.
  13. If Hughes does transfer out, which is likely, it is an incredible recruiting pitch for Lanning. When he says "if you're good enough, you're old enough" he absolutely means it. I don't think it would detract from transfers because we have seen so many transfers become major impact players and boost their draft stock. But for prep recruits... They have proof they can make a major impact as true freshman if they have what it takes.
  14. No it at all surprising. In truth I wouldn't be surprised if Hill and Davidson start taking over the RB room and rotation. They were by far the most effective backs against PSU.
  15. That reminds me of the 2009 USC "Fright Night" game at Autzen. So much emotion went into dominating them that Oregon came out flat against Stanford the following week. Stanford dominated early and OBD could never catch up.
  16. As always, a polished and inspired production. My favorite moment was toward the end where Dierre Hill embraces Kenyon Barner with small knowing smiles on both men's faces. The passing of the torch.
  17. Google search states we would be tied with… USC in 2009 (Leinhart, Palmer, Sanchez, Booty) Michigan State 2014 (Cousins, Stanton, Bell, Cunningham) North Carolina, but only three listed (Brissett, Rivers, Wilson) with no date.
  18. The problem, IMHO, is that Penn State is not running a pro-style, physical, smash-mouth offense with some play-action passes. They are playing some RPO that does not take advantage of their QB’s strengths/limitations. A former Penn State offensive lineman posted a great video breaking down the 4th quarter PSU plays. Drew Allar made some good plays but he also missed some reads and, of course, made a horrible throw in OT. I don’t think he is the right fit for the system they are currently running and that is 100% on their coaching staff.
  19. Thanks for checking me. I thought Shough was starting somewhere, but apparently he's still backing up Rattler at the Saints. I've corrected the article to 4. Still seems like a lot.
  20. I may be a little slow... Herbert, Nix, Mariota, DG.. who's the 5th?
  21. You are absolutely on point, I think Michigan proved you could win with a 57 percent blue chip ratio and a style that can offset the skill advantage of an Alabama or Ohio State if you can impose your style. To me that's really tough sledding though. It takes a complete buy in and keeping a core together for three years. Penn State was seen as a favorite entering the year because most thought they were copying that formula. But remember Michigan had already proven they could win big games entering the 2023 season. Penn State hadn't done that, and I'm sorry but beating SMU and Boise doesn't qualify imo.. To me that's the thing that kept me from buying them as Michigan 2023 or Ohio State 2024. What's James Franklin's five biggest wins at PSU and what year was it? 1.) Ohio State 2016 2.) Wisconsin 2016 3.) SMU 2024 4.) Boise State 2024 5.) Michigan 2019
  22. Smart decision. But I don't see any mention that he is for sure going to transfer. Sitting out a year to develop and learn the system and then make the decision at the end of season what is best for him. Hopefully he takes this as a great opportunity and steps up to the best scout team RB for the rest of the season.
