  2. A compressed Jan. 2–16 window is fueling fast moves and bigger deals. Here's what each position costs this cycle The college football transfer portal will officially open Jan. 2 and with it should come a flurry of activity, big-money deals and roster transformations. There is more pressure than ever this time around with the spring portal period disbanded in favor of a sole winter period that runs from Jan. 2 through Jan. 16. It's why this year's winter portal could resemble what we see with NFL free agency with many of the best options coming off the board quickly for big money deals. "People are going to spend out of the gate -- like immediately -- your top guys, your best guys, are going to go quick," said a Big Ten general manager. "Then it's the rest of them that are asking for money, but at some point they're going to come down a little bit because the money has already been spent."
  3. Great analysis, Mike. I watched the B12 CG and the TT loss to ASU in detail. In the former, BYU by virtue of sloppy play and TOs handed the game to Tech on a silver platter. In the latter a good QB was able to find gaps in that secondary to exploit. Moore is one notch better than Leavitt, and with Stein's game plan will find the same weaknesses. The 'forced fumbles' that they hang their hat on will not be easy to come by against OBD. You can bet the last 10 days of practice at HDC have involved the RBs and WRs running a gauntlet of hands, elbows, knees, baseball bats and battering rams trying to dislodge the ball. As long as Oregon avoids TOs and gives Dante that extra second of protection to find his receivers, the offense will click just fine and key the win.
  4. For those who have not read the article, know that the title is NOT clickbait, as Mike West gives reasonable opinions from his own analysis as to how he thinks the Orange Bowl game will play out. I appreciate Mike giving us this guest article, and I hope you will all read it, ponder, and offer your thoughts as to how you agree or disagree.

  6. Oregon coach Dan Lanning spoke candidly about ideas to improve the College Football Playoff format. Lanning believes college football should own Saturdays in December, instead of giving the days to the NFL. Oregon Coach Dan Lanning's Wants December Saturdays Back From NFL"We've got a ton of respect for the NFL. We are a prep league for the NFL... We do a lot of favors for the NFL," Lanning said. "But there's no money paid from the NFL to take care of college football. We've given up some of our days to the NFL." "Saturday should be sacred for college football. Every Saturday through the month of December should belong to college football, in my opinion," Lanning continued. 7. National experts' predictions for Oregon vs. Texas Tech CFP matchupGoing into the weekend, national college football analysts are making their predictions for the first round games that are set to take place, picking the game either straight up or against the spread. Here's what we've found so far from the top guys:
  8. Several old USuC all star players like Su'a Cravens and LenDale White called out LR and the defense after that horrible showing. They used less than genteel language pointing out that there are two sides to the ball and that former players should be on the coaching staff to teach the D how to tackle and act like Trojenz. TCU was led by their backup QB, a redshirt senior that hadn't started a game in two years. He still outclassed the U$C defense who time and again blew assignments and exhibited a lack of gap discipline and crappy tackling The apologists pointed out that WRs Lemon and Lane opted out of the game. Welcome to Oregon's world, losing your two best receivers at a critical point. One backup WR, Hines, played well as did walk-on RB Miller. Good luck, Lincoln, getting those kids to stay and not bail to the portal. If the B1G had to drop a bowl game, I'm personally happy it was the Boyz of Troyz. My only concern is that the powers that be in La La Land will cough up the big bucks to buy out Stinkin' Lincoln's contract after 2026 and bring in a new coach. One that excels at SoCal recruiting and player retention and understands that de-fence (sic) is not just something you build around your Beverly Hills crib to keep the riff-raff out.
  9. Ready for an under 40 total? Oregon vs. Texas Tech: Three Bold Predictions for College Football Playoff Clash
  10. For Oregon, the Orange Bowl Is About Taking the Next Step Oregon enters the Orange Bowl with a talent edge and championship expectations. But against a surging Texas Tech team, the Ducks must prove they can turn depth and experience into execution when it matters most.
  11. Trey McNutt feels he's ready to contribute, 'If they need me, I'm ready for it' Oregon freshman safety Trey McNutt believes he's ready to help contribute to this year's College Football Playoff run if needed.
  12. Thanks Mike West for your always expert analysis. I made my prediction that the DUCKS put up 42 on Texas Tech. Now of course, we have to play the game. GO DUCKS!

  14. I like big coconut predictions that are based on data and research. So, obviously Mike, we all hope you are right. I appreciate your analysis breakdown and it certainly gives me hope. If our offense comes out of the gate like it did in the first half against JMU, TT is going to be on their heels very-very fast. And, there's no chance that there would be any sort of let up by OBD in the second half.
  15. I think it’s funny and telling that his DC bailed on him for another conference team. Can the B1G get a refund? Perhaps give Oregon the full media share and take it from the LA schools…
  16. That’s a bold prediction and I hope you’re right. It will be interesting to see if Oregon is able to run on the Texas Tech defense early or needs to pass to open up the running game. Can the O-line protect Dante long enough to set up big plays down the field and, if not, does Coach Stein move the pocket, which I haven’t seen him do much, or rely on short to intermediate passes?
  17. Phil Steele is just another cog in a media machine that spits out the same narrative every year. This year he put the blue bloods in the pre-season top 10 and called it a day. Of his top 5 teams he only got Ohio State correct. I think most of us in this forum could match that. Of the remaining eight teams he only got Bama, UGA and Ohio State correct.
  18. Oregon 27-24 1 TO 2 Sacks 220 air yards, but they count for scores A rock fight that OBD wins late
  19. In OT, USC had the ball 1st & goal on the TCU 2 yard line... and they had to settle for a field goal. They suck. And they've given our conference the only bowl blemish we have. Still, and even with USC sucking so badly, the B1G at 6-1 in the bowl games is pretty dog-gone impressive. Especially when we consider that the super-mighty SEC is a pathetic 2-5.
  20. It looks like Oregon could be looking for another WR coach. Douglas played at Michigan and then transferred to Rutgers. He’s done a great job, but I’m sure DL can find another good coach if he decides to leave. The WR room has a lot of upside to say the least.
  21. I told my friend that Lincoln was a terrible coach, as I said their team would lose their bowl game. I walk that back! He's just mediocre. He should quietly leave SuC and ask Daddy Lanning for a job as an offensive assistant coach! He might just learn how to actually coach and recruit for a team...
  22. My #1 rule for analyzing bowl games: “Never analyze bowl games.” Only place to draw conclusions re: the greatest Conference debate is the CFP. Only those teams are fully staffed with players and coaches that are all motivated to win.
  23. Taking away the explosive front 7 of Texas Tech's defense is a good strategy. 24. In OT, USC had the ball 1st & goal on the TCU 2 yard line. And they had to settle for a field goal. They seriously suck. Oh well... at least the B1G is still, so far, 6-1 in bowl games.
