6 or 7 seed would be good. Get a good tune up game in December. The only team I have any real fear of right now is Ohio State they just haven't struggled but in turn they haven't really been tested either. I would just like to not play them in the second round. If this bracket holds true then Georgia in the second round would be tough but I think we have a team that could beat them. A possible rematch with Indiana would be interesting and I don't think it plays out the same it did in the previous game. Overall... I like the No.6 or 7 seed and that side of the bracket.

Really glad for Justin's sake that he has a bye week coming up. The Los Angeles Chargers seem to be trying to get that guy knocked out of football all together... or at a minimum, sadly shorten his career by what could be many years. The abuse he continues to receive is incredible.

The ball was babbled as he crossed the line. He regained control of the ball with both hands and then dropped it out the end zone. So the only question was did he regain control of the ball... and the answer to that was yes. So there wasn't actually a fumble as the ball didn't hit the ground until after the touchdown. Whittington was in the midst of pulling a Byron Marshall and dropped the ball before he cross the line but he never actually fumbled it.

I have a question about that almost fumble. He'd already had several steps into the end zone with (to my eyes) control of the ball. Why isn't that enough? I mean, sometimes players intentionally spike or casually drop the ball in the end zone after they enter the end zone and there's no question about it being a touchdown. What am I missing?

Very nice article David. It sure rings true to me. Our DUCKS are playing well on both sides of the ball. That balance plus our crowd and Autzen Stadium are going to produce a solid win on Saturday. It looks like good football weather. GO DUCKS!

If we win out, I think we land in the #5 or #4 spot. There is still an interesting scenario where Ohio St., Indiana, and Oregon all finish 1-2-3. I believe Texas A&M will lose to Texas which will open the door for Alabama to beat Georgia again in the SEC title game. Then it becomes a beauty contest between Ole Miss and Oregon for the #4 spot unless.... Texas Tech trips up. Then Oregon and Ole Miss are fighting for the #3 spot. I don't see how a 2-loss Alabama climbs to #3 even with an SEC title.

That would be my 1st choice.

If Oregon makes it into the college football playoffs, I would not mind (I) hosting a home game and (II) being on the other side of the bracket from Ohio State.

My initial reaction is, "Sadiq has been nursing some injuries and is returning to health (and form) at just the right time. It's also pretty easy to imagine Stein has at least 2 or 3 plays he can now run from the same set with the defense anticipating "Sadiq on the fade route." Not a bad option to have in your arsenal with the biggest games of the year on tap.

2 major concerns: Lack of a good pass rush (almost no sacks). Pressure on the QB is really important...especially this game. And.......lack of turnovers. We're not getting nearly as many as we have in previous years. Afraid Mavia will have a field day. Could be a high scoring game

So many times Noah would go down on first touch. These last two games convinced me that Whittington has changed. I see Noah hitting the hole with explosive power, never stopping his legs to look for the opening, but bending the path getting as many yards as possible. Credit Coach Samples. USC gave up 34 points and 442 yards to its top 40 offense faced (including 306 rushing). 4.5 points and 16 yards under Notre Dame's averages. Oregon allowed 30 points and 326 yards to Indiana (13 points and 152 yards under its average) and 10 points and 202 yards to Rutgers (20 points and 219 yards below their average). If one wants to throw in Montana State they were held 26 points and 199 yards below their average. So, looking at it from an outsider's perspective, Oregon's #3 overall defense might be helped out by half its opponents rated outside the top 100 in total offense; but, USC facing 8/10 opponents rated #69 or lower in total offense might be helping it's #50 overall total defense ranking too. USC's offense looks elite, Oregon's offense looks near elite, Oregon's defense looks elite (to near elite) and USC's defense looks really about right on FBS average, and the game is at Autzen. My initial guess is Stein and company may have a spring in their step this week. USC's front has been described as "more athletic than physical" and on the back end I guess they have been using a lot of cover one with man-to-man. Stein should be open to attack any way he chooses.
