Prediction Contest of Oregon vs. Rutgers: Join Us!
Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction of Oregon versus Rutgers? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Let's get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. We Have Two New Rules: If two winning scores are the same? The first one who posted wins, automatically. TerryM9 gets 42-6 locked in every time as his. (I love this guy!) Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon 45-20 2 3 251

Things We Can Learn - Concerns About the 4th Quarter Performance...
Defensive Performance Review – Indiana Game Indiana demonstrated a balanced offensive attack with an efficient power run game, recording a 23–14 advantage in first downs. Their ability to sustain drives and control the line of scrimmage provided a clear model of execution we can learn from. Our defensive performance showed strong moments early, but we experienced a noticeable decline in the fourth quarter in each of the last two games. This drop-off indicates a need to improve our finish, and late-game consistency. The issue may not be solely athlete-related — potential contributing factors include player rotation, team depth, and defensive alignment. These areas can create situations where fatigue, and a numbers disadvantage at the line of scrimmage impact overall defensive effectiveness. Next Steps: Review player rotation patterns and evaluate late-game substitutions. Assess alignment strategies to reduce stress on front-line defenders. Continue developing depth to sustain performance through all four quarters.

But you only have to wait one week instead of months to start getting that Hoosier taste out of your mouth. Hopefully, OBD will brush away Rutgers all Knights long. Get Right at Rutgers! 😁

Kenjon Barner on his SOAPBOX.
In his own words, Kenjon "had to vent" about the Indiana game, and does so for the first 40 minutes of this Ducks of a Feather podcast. Great stuff!!! Find it here. (I hope this works because I have never linked anything before.)

Can Penn State Still Affect the B1G Playoff Picture?
Doctor, Doctor, Mr. MD. Great question. My answer: How about NO! But with a game at Ohio State followed by a home game versus Indiana, the Nits will have a chance to do so. PSU could also derail Nebraska's PO hopes when it plays the Cornhuskers in Lincoln.

Can Penn State Still Affect the B1G Playoff Picture?
Everybody has seemed to write off Penn State as a threat in the B1G and for good reason. They’re winless in the conference, they just fired their head coach, their QB is out for the season and it seems that even their own administration has even written them off as they begin their search for a new coach. However, there is one thing a lot of people are overlooking. Talent. Penn State has loads of it and now the proverbial chains are off. They are no longer weighed down by the high expectations of winning a title. They also don’t have to worry about playing for their head coach’s job. However, they still should be motivated to perform well because many of them skipped the NFL draft to come back for this season. These players certainly don’t want to see their draft stocks buried because they gave up on their seasons. Perhaps the coaching staff felt micromanaged by their former head coach and now they can continue to implement their game plans without interference. Maybe their backup QB is an accurate passer who makes good decisions, but lacked the prototypical size and arm strength to start. Whatever happened, they weren’t responding positively to Franklin’s leadership. I’m quite sure the interim coach has told them that they’re capable of playing like a contender and it’s time to show it. They still have, Iowa, Ohio State and Indiana left on their schedule. If I’m Terry Smith my message is simple. Try to ruin every opponent’s chance at the playoffs for the remainder of the season. https://www.ydr.com/story/sports/college/penn-state/football/2025/10/16/how-penn-state-football-can-recover-without-james-franklin-at-iowa/86610310007/

Lanning Should Leave Oregon Before...'His Kids Become Drug Addicts'
Drink is from Alma, AR (Go Airedales!). I don’t think we’re going to see him making the jump to Arkansas just because he was a Razorbacks fan growing up. Believe me, if they could coerce him or The Gus Bus to come to Fayetteville they would. However, for Drinkwitz, jumping ship from an established program to go rebuild a program is the definition of insanity. As for Gus, I’m not sure he wants the headache of dealing with NIL.

Good for Cignetti, double good for Indiana and there fans. I respect Cignetti for being loyal and for the AD stepping up to keep him. The AD got out front of his coach being poached. . Now that Indiana settled this issue, can we now get back to the real task at hand? Getting the Duck O Ferrari back on the track? LOL Go Ducks.....

Lanning Should Leave Oregon Before...'His Kids Become Drug Addicts'
Columbia, in the middle of the Show Me State, is not Saint Louis. The population is 130,000 or so, slightly over 250,000 if you include the capital, Jefferson City. There is crime there, of course, but nowhere close to the rate in St. Louis. Coach Eli Drinkwitz's job at Mizzou is secure. FWIW, he has said he is not a candidate for the Penn State job. He would not even be a lateral hire for Penn State. The only firing I can think of, akin to Franklin's firing, was Georgia firing Mark Richt. A guy who won a lot of games but could not score a championship for the Dawgs. It was risky hiring alum Kirby Smart, a guy without head coaching experience, but the risk certainly paid off in Athens. Nevertheless, the Tomfoolery on social media is always worthy of a good laugh. Every child growing up in Eugene will become an addict. Thank goodness Justin Herbert and Bryce Boettcher managed to stay straight, right? 🤪 BTW, Curt Cignetti just signed an eighth-year extension of his contract with Indiana. Curt and his agent want to thank Penn State AD Pat Kraft for the assist. 🤑

Lanning: Little Bit Softer Now, Little Bit Louder Now…
Autzen could be even louder, if EVERYONE would make noise. I don't know about other sections. But in 35, which is loud, I see a good number of people who do not yell, cheer, clap (except after a touchdown), and I imagine how loud it could be if all of them made some noise when the Ducks are on defense.

Cignetti Signs New 8 Year Contract at 11.6 Million per Year...With Indiana
For coaches who remain loyal to the school who gave them a chance...I salute it. Dan Lanning has stated many times his loyalty to Oregon for giving him, a coach with NO head-coaching experience, a chance. Two Loyal Men...

Cignetti Signs New 8 Year Contract at 11.6 Million per Year...With Indiana
For some reason this does not surprise me. If he likes it there (and I would assume he does) why leave for somewhere else? Showing that he can get the job done at Indiana (again, assuming he does continue to do so), he doesn't need to prove anything by going somewhere else.

Always love any references to ‘Shout!’ and ‘Animal House’. My favorite line in the song is, “you’ve been so good to me”, because that’s how it feels the Ducks have been to their fans. And as for the rest of the season? “FOOD FIGHT!!!”

A BIG Heads Up -
The Big Ten Network's B1G Today show is repeated during the day. Today's show is well worth watching. 'You're Going to Make Your Bunk the Marine Way!' After a Corporal calls you to attention, these are the first words out of the Drill Instructor's mouth. The first words, interim HC Tim Skipper to the UCLA team: 'Clean Up the Locker Room by Midnight Tomorrow! Here's a photograph of what our Locker Room will look like from here on out.' Ashley Adamson's interview with Coach Skipper is fantastic, as is the coverage of Saturday's B1G games, including PO must-win games for Washington and Michigan, USC and Notre Dame, and for Nebraska at Minnesota. Also, good coverage of the Ducks at Rutgers and the other B1G games. The Cornhuskers play the Gophers on Friday at 5 PM on Fox. Also worth watching while cheering for the Cardinals on Friday is Louisville at Miami. 4 PM ESPN. This will be Miami's 6th game of the season. The 5th home game with the one away game played in Tallahassee, Florida. If Miami wins the ACC title, its first PO game will be a 2nd round game played in Miami's home stadium. This season's PO Championship game will also be played in Miami's home stadium. 🤪 Get Right at Rutgers!

Sometimes Losing Is Winning
but if the Ducks come out flat against Rutgers I'm going to be a bit concerned. If they come out flat on Saturday, I will be more than just a bit concerned. I need to see them come out with some US Forces like shock-n-awe, and some Ricky Bobbie shake-n-bake 😄.

Lanning: Little Bit Softer Now, Little Bit Louder Now…
Nothing quite like a mid-season kick in the teeth to help a team recalibrate. But hey, that IU team looks like the real deal... very impressive. Nevertheless, with some corrections and improvement (both players and coaches), which OBD is totally capable of, we can absolutely beat those guys. Regarding Rutgers, although I haven't followed them closely, I did notice that the three losses they had were all by an average of about 7 points. On paper anyway, they look like they could be competitive. So this looks like it could be a great follow-up game to a loss, on the road, allowing us to find out who we really are. And I'm very glad that we don't have a 9:30 AM PST start. Playing Northwestern at that time was just utterly ridiculous.
