  2. The answer is both. However, Coach Stein is calling plays that are getting WRs/TEs open but Dante is not seeing them or is not willing to pull the trigger (see the video clip above for examples). Many of the sacks in the first game were a result of confusion/hesitation by Dante.
  3. OBD’s Big George Wrightster (GW) provides his breakdown of how Oregon needs to attack Indiana: As many of us have said, Dante needs to play better. GW provides some clips in the below video, over halfway through, that shows open receivers that Dante missed. I’ve also seen clips where the WRs did a nice job sitting in the zone and Dante just didn’t see them or pull the trigger. Run the ball and don’t stop running the ball. Our offensive line was opening up some gashes in the first game and all of our running backs averaged over 5 yards per carry. Davison was particularly effective. Win the turnover battle, like we did against TT. When Indiana is getting turnovers the game tends to snowball like it used to for Oregon under CK. On defense, force Indiana into 3rd and long, beat the right side of Indiana’s OL, play more man-to-man coverage while mixing in some zone and contain Mendoza.

  6. Duck fans: are you not entertained? Our Oregon football program enters the new year of 2026 prepping for the semifinals of the College Football Playoff, fresh off a resounding 23-0 victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Orange Bowl. The Ducks have advanced to the semis for the second time in the CFP era, the first since Dan ... Oregon Football: Peach Bowl Score Prediction vs Indiana

  8. In my mind, the only difference between these two teams is the level of execution.
  9. Your comments are killing it! I'm licking my chops at each suggestion. I have a thought about Stein and Moore I will share Thursday (man, its going to be tough to match the quality of suggestions in this thread. And I can only wonder what Stein is thinking about with so much on his plate. This game is going to be very interesting.
  10. Place me in the Camp that thinks Dante needs another year or two of development to be likely to reach his full potential in the NFL. Should he ball out in this game to put out the Cig, he is very likely to be the first QB off the board, be able to sign an absolute fully guaranteed monster contract, and would likely be headed to the Las Vegas Raiders--an absolute disaster for any hopes of development IMHO. But with 50-75 million guaranteed, he's set for life. My biggest fear in that scenario is that Dante will be immediately fed to the wolves behind a terrible OL and could illustrate the old NFL mantra that NFL means ""Not for Long".
  11. What’s interesting about most of those comments is how all of that Duck hate can’t mask the panicky fear that we’re headed for a championship. When the stone-cold Husky faithful are thinking like that, maybe there’s hope for them yet. Nah
  12. Thanks Charles for all the hours you put in to keep this forum the considerate and respectful site that it is.
  13. Montana State 35 - Illinois State 34 OBD defeated the FCS champ. Next, win two and be the FBS champ? Send Mendoza Under the Line!
  14. Cignetti reminded me of a coach....and it took me the longest time to pull it out of memory; former Oregon State basketball coach Ralph Miller. On the sidelines during a game....Ralph always looked like he was sucking lemons...
  15. Dante is basically playing like a redshirt freshman (I don't count his year at UCLA, it was a very bad team and Chip Kelly had basically checked out). He's certainly better than he was in the 1st half of the season, whether that's enough to beat IU at this time is anybody's guess.
  16. I feel the bright green helmets make potential targets for Dante much more visible.
  17. How many exhibit Bitter Beaver Face?
  18. Wow. MSU blocks a late field goal to force OT then blocks an extra point in OT to set up the win. That's impressive at any level.
  19. Zorn to Largent was indeed a thing of beauty! I was in the Kingdome for the game in 1983 when they beat the Patriots to go to the playoffs for the 1st time. Holy cow, I'm pretty sure that was as loud as any metal concert I've been to... All that to say: Go Ducks!! Put a good old fashioned whoopin on the Hoosiers!!
  20. Dante can make all the throws but till this game slows down for him he will struggle punishing overly aggressive defenses. Time and time again, you hear QB's talk about how the game has slowed down for them and I don't think Dante can say that. Another year in college would greatly improve the mental side of his the game.
  21. The state of Montana is the 41st state. Montana State just won their first championship in 41 years.
  22. Indiana's defense had line control, brought pressure, and then those short passes were also bottled up....especially the ones behind the line of scrimmage. I'm not sure Stein can scheme around that unless Dante shows some major improvement over what we saw in October. I still don't understand why Indiana's D-coordinator didn't get more mention to be a candidate for a head coach opening. Their O-coord also helped them put a lot of points on the board. He didn't get any mention either.
  23. As a former MSU student this is amazing feeling to put a Nationally Championship trophy in the case for the first time since I was 4! Need the Ducks to double it up for me because the Raiders sure going to.
  24. If you look up the box score, you'll see Illinois State dominated statistically....possession, yards, plays, first downs, third downs, penalties, etc. But, MSU got the scoreboard. Montana State ends the season 14-2. Lost the weekend after the Oregon game, then never lost again.
  25. MSU wins 35-34 in overtime. Had a 28-21 lead late, and control of the game. Allowed Illinois State to score late fourth quarter to tie it, 28-28. MSU..more penalties...had to give up possession with a punt. Illinois State marched down the field, but a late FG attempt was blocked by MSU. Game goes to overtime, Illinois State scores in two plays for the lead. BUT, MSU blocks the extra point, score 28-34. Then, Montana State gets a TD on fourth and ten in OT to tie it, and then wins with the extra point kick. I forgot about the game which I intended to watch, but remembered in time to see most of a wild fourth quarter. As Pants said, it was hot potato in the fourth with neither team taking control when they could have.
  26. Two teams playing hot potato with the win. Reminded me of the last drive of the Pop Tarts Bowl. Nine false starts by MSU is horrible. Almost as bad as ISU’s kicking game.
