  2. The PSU OL to this point has been like a stationary wall. They don't get much push (low yards before contact), but don't let much get past them (low negative yardage plays) against poor competition. I take that to mean they are fundamentally sound, but not very athletic, or the running scheme has been a Mario Cristobal special. It's a bit of a conundrum to this point. I think PSU will want to run outside more against us like they did last year, but Oregon is much better at setting the edge this year than prior years. I wonder if we don't just put 5 down linemen and play single high safety and man coverage. Bottle up the run and make the QB beat us with his arm or scrambling.
  3. I stayed up until 10:30 last night helping my high school freshman daughter prepare for her math test, so I'll pass on the number crunching. So my answer is the ball will get there faster than the DB thinks is possible.
  4. Do we load the box, bringing Dillon Thieneman down to help contain PSU running backs? Make Allar beat us with his arm? Can he? Does Tosh have faith in our defense linemen to plug the holes? Not sweat getting 4 sacks, but forcing Allar to make the throws that he hasn't this season? Let Allar have the check-down passes, giving them 2-3 yards a play for passing but swarm tackling since we have 8 in the box? So many things I am thinking of for tomorrows game, and I know that OBD staff has 25 other things they are thinking/planning for!
  5. The NFL is notorious for falling in love with tall, big-armed guys who play erratically. There's a long list. While Allar has the look and the measurables, Dante Moore is the quarterback in this game with elite arm talent and the makeup to thrive in a pressure atmosphere. Autzen ZooDucks have one big edge in championship rematch, but does...In three games last year against OSU, Oregon and Notre Dame, Drew Allar completed 54 percent of his passes for 507 with three touchdowns and four interceptions.

  7. Great article and title Jordan! So much will be revealed come Saturday. Here's hoping our Ducks will dominate! Thanks for writing for Our Beloved Ducks!
  8. This question may be for the coaches, mathematicians and physicists among us: Our receiver is wide open. He’s found a seam and he’s sitting in it, about 20 yards from the line of scrimmage. He’s not in the center of the field, and the QB is in the pocket, 7 to 10 yards behind the line, so let’s say there are 35-40 yards between them. There are a couple of tall guys someplace around the line of scrimmage. Question: How many seconds will it take for the ball to get from Dante’s hand to the receiver’s face mask?
  9. Ducks win, 27-21 2 Turnovers 2 sacks 278 yds
  10. The No. 6 Oregon Ducks are walking into one of the biggest stages in college football on Saturday to tackle No. 3 Penn State before a raucous White Out crowd at Beaver Stadium. The College Gameday crew, including a likely shirtless Pat McAfee, will do their level best to draw all eyes to Happy Valley for a heavyweight rematch of ... Oregon, Penn State Faceoff in Battle of Unknown Quantities
  11. Sorry to hear that Charles! I worked in an industry that involved a lot of heavy lifting for 20+ years in my youth. My back muscles were so much stronger than my core that I developed a severe case of sciatica. It got bad enough my doctor said I looked like I had cerebral palsy when I walked. Luckily, I was able to control it with a ridiculous amount of core conditioning (like at least 200 crunches a day in my 40's). It lasted long enough that I will forever have a high level of empathy for anyone who suffers chronic back pain. I'll be praying for you!

  13. 30Duck has provided his prediction of... 34-27 Ducks 1 Turnover 1 Sack 246 Passing Yards MUCH more reasonable than mine, but my emotions got the best of me...
  14. Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction of Oregon versus Penn State? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Let's get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. We Have Two New Rules: If two winning scores are the same? The first one who posted wins, automatically. TerryM9 gets 42-6 locked in every time as his. (I love this guy!) Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon 38-20 1 1 279 Does My Score Look Familiar? This is the uniform we should be wearing...
  15. BTW...everybody is welcome to start pondering threads. Help us out and get the discussion going!
  16. I am not sure to reject all the praise, (Former OL Coach Neil Zombokos never liked, "any sugar for our offense") or to love it, as I am seeing some superb analysis out there praising our defensive "matchup-zone," or the rushing skills of Matayo U. that is under-appreciated, or how good our offensive line is, or the uber throwing skills of Dante Moore. They have a ton of proof for their assertions, as they show video and break it down. I see it, and agree, but again....it is only four games against weak opponents. I am beginning to feel a lot better about Our Beloved Ducks...how about YOU?
  17. This is very similar to what I am dealing with. I hope your recovery comes about, as I hope mine will.
  18. As one who suffers lower back pain, I can certainly emphasize. I can still walk for exercise with the help of an elastic belt, but can only go 10-15 minutes before having to sit and rest a few minutes. This is the long-term result of a bad auto accident in 1998, but thankfully, the problem didn't become terribly noticeable until 2-3 years ago (yeah the doctors told me it would happen eventually). What I can't do very well any more is drive for long distances or be comfortable on long plane rides. Sure hope your recovery proceeds steadily and is a good one.
  19. Ahhh. I appreciate the nuance with the rollout. Maybe the author took that same factor into account.

  23. I have many months of healing work to do, and I will not be able to walk well enough by then. But I know that NJDuck is going....perhaps something can be arranged?
  24. On the play you are referring to...it was not a drop-back pass, but a rollout, IMHO. The Beavis DE read it perfectly and followed the pulling tackle to Dante as he was trying to roll left.
  25. Bodes well for us against Penn State. Hoping we come out as No. 1.
