91-92 was my freshman year at Oregon. It was rough. Lyden was hurt and only played a few games. Orlando and Antoine were basically the only two guys that could score on that team. IIRC, there were several games where they had less than 20 before half. This team might be worse right now, with Bittle, Shelstad, and Simpkins out. It’s too bad that nobody has really been able to step up and score consistently.

We dropped down to 35 degrees overnight here in southwest AZ. Highs got into the 70's. But , from experience from living in Tennessee, Ohio, and having visited family in Michigan, Indiana, Colorado, and northern California. I can tell you freezing rain is the worst. When there's a heavy wind chill sweeping through, that cold will cut through you, no matter how many layers you have on. I've driven through hurricanes, sandstorms, severe thunderstorms with hail and tornado breeding cover. But the one accident I got into was due to a car cutting me off, and I hit my brakes, but spun out as the offender drove off. Luckily all it cost me was my car. But a close second was during a nasty winter storm where my defrosters weren't working, and I had to drive and scrape to just have fifteen percent visibility. I couldn't pull over either. I had winding two lanes with concrete barriers on each side. I thanked God for getting me home that night. Be safe out there.

Building momentum. We are going to need a closing date to lock in. I am thinking before Spring camps because injuries can happen. Or we could extend to just before fall camps? But since we are already predicting, waiting gives everyone else an unfair advantage. I would say leave it open until and including the last day of February. And I also think pay end of season is good. We probably need at least 8 to 10 contestants to make it worth the while of a bet.

I'll never forget my first true winter storm in Northern Ohio when I moved there for graduate school. I had about a 20-minute walk across campus to my office. Being a Californian, I had no true winter coat (My mother bought me a reversible Jacket with fur which I turned out (like a fool) and made myself look like a Sasquash. I had no head covering. I walked in the building feeling no pain and the Department Head said "I envy you Californians getting all that sun on the beach in December". I hadn't been to the beach and was wind burned from the 25 MPH winds and -20 wind chill that morning. And I thought I was going to die 15 minutes later as my frozen ears thawed. I immediately thought of that day as I read about the frozen East Coast this week. Poor devils!

Somehow, in a world with an ocean of rules and regulations, except for college football, I wonder if funds up front are kosher? As Ladies and Gentlemen of OBD Forum, will our word suffice? In 2024, Oregon was the only Big Ten team to play eight consecutive Big Ten opponents without a week off. In 2025, Oregon is the only B1G team that plays eight Big Ten opponents in a row with a week off. It is the only B1G team that will play a road game against a Big Ten team coming off a bye. And the team is Illinois, not Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers, or Maryland. Your Honor, on behalf of OBD, coaches, players, and fans, I respectfully plead: Res Ipsa Loquitor - The schedule compared with other top Big Ten teams speaks for itself. Of course, in an 18-team conference, the four Western teams will have to travel East. However, there is no justification for Oregon to have to travel to the Eastern time zone twice in November. And Oregon will have its third trip in five weeks to the Eastern time zone if it plays in the Big Ten champ game. On posts up on the Forum, read what the Oregon players had to say about playing eight Big Ten, that's eight Power 2 teams, in a row without a break in 2024; the players were on their last legs when they traveled to and barely defeated Wisconsin. After playing Ohio State in Columbus in Week 10 and returning home to play Michigan in Week 11, look out for a Week 12 letdown at Michigan State. Hopefully, OBD will not be too dinged up when it plays UW and its mobile QB in Week 13. Today, with players able to transfer at will for better deals, no program has the depth it once had. Oregon lost its very good slate of young edge rushers and D-Line players. The depth is not there, and it's not there at the LB position. Eight games in a row increases the chance of injury. Oregon could play 16 or 17 games in 2026-27. I care about the players' health and safety. I want Oregon to have the same chance as Ohio State to play PO games with a healthy roster. Equal, no. In a mega-conference, there will be scheduling winners and losers, but Oregon should not be taking 'losses' in both 2024 and 2026. Eight straight for Oregon and five for the Buckeyes give Ohio State an unnecessary advantage that could have been easily avoided by having the Ducks play UCLA in Week 5, Nebraska in Week 6, with a Bye in Week 7 before traveling to Illinois in Week 8. I'm not buying that Oregon, because it's a junior partner, should willingly accept this scheduling disparity. Dan will put a public positive spin on things, but Dan and Oregon's Strength and Conditioning coach cannot be happy about playing the same gauntlet two out of three seasons. If you are fine with the schedule and believe it doesn't put Oregon at a disadvantage, allows more folks to watch one of the most-watched college football teams, and that playing eight without a break helps with recruiting, good on you, mate. You and others who are not worrying about something out of your control hold the high ground. So, hats off to you and those who have the serenity not to worry about one of the many things in life that we cannot change. However, when it comes to scheduling, I do hope Rob Mullens is speaking up on behalf of OBD. And Rob, about scheduling Boise and playing P4 opponents OOC and on the ... Oops! 😁 BEAT BOISE!

There are only four west coast teams that deserve to be in one of the major football conferences, and UCLA is marginal. OBD have been outstanding the first two years. It certainly does not appear that the Ducks are at some huge scheduling disadvantage as proven by results. The earth rotates from west to east, and time zones with us behind will always mean our games in the east will sometimes be early. But, we can and do practice in the morning to accommodate the clock adjustment. Most of the TV viewers are in the east, so playing there gets OBD more exposure and better recruits. Do teams win more games coming off a bye? I think that the opposite is the case. Upsets after a bye always garner the “rusty” excuse. We’re one of the new kids in the B1G, so favored treatment is not to be expected. If you must complain about scheduling, at least provide some evidence of damages.

Oregon has never won less than 20 games in Altman's tenure. Before tonight: 8-12 this season. In 2008-09 Ernie's team was 8-23 and 2-16 in the Pac12 with several blow out losses. 1991-92 Monson's last team was 6-21. Worst in the 20-game era was 4-21 in 1956-57. Feel badly for Oregon native Bittle: 2021-22 – 20 games – 20-15, 1-1 in NIT 2022-23 – 28 games - 21-15, 2-3 in NIT 2023-24 – 5 games – injured – 24-12, 1-1 in NCAA Tourney 2024-25 – 35 games – 25-10, 1-1 in NCAA Tourney 2025-26 – 15 games – 8-12 He has played in 2 NCAA Tourney games in his career. Only one season playing every game.

Being upset about the schedule is weakness in my opinion. Looking for "equity" is weakness in my opinion. Ohio State already gets favorable status on kickoff times and avoidance of Fridays. When Oregon can draw the TV eyeballs that Ohio State does every week, then perhaps I'll feel differently. I do think it is unfortunate that UO and UW weren't granted incentives on their share of media revenue until 2030 if they hit some pre-established benchmarks that brought more $$$ to the conference. If the initial "half-shares of media" were truly based on media value they could bring to the B1G, like USC, then being above expectations should be rewarded.

11 - 1 Playoff - 1st round bye. Which is fine. So far, Cig is the only coach who knows how to win 2nd round games. Tie breaker not needed. What's my prize and where is it? 🤬

Here in SW Washington lows are in the 20's, highs in the mid to upper 40's. Not too bad at all for winter. I too paid my "snow dues" growing up in Alaska. Lived in Valdez while the Great Alaska Pipeline was being built. Seemed like it snowed 3 feet every night, and it was (of course it was! 😁) my job to shovel the sidewalk and driveway every morning. After the snow level got to be about 6 feet high on average, my dad finally let me give up on the sidewalk as long as I focused on the driveway... Part of the reason we're where we are is that I'm tired of real winter, and want to just enjoy balmy cool weather. I looked it up. 2008 is the last time Oregon had a losing record. Attendance has been dropping steadily. No butts in seats is bad.

Lowest point in the Altman era, 15 years. Starters Bittle, Shelstad, Simpkins and backup Demer out for tonight's game. Can't win when so many players are banged up.

Lose some, fine. But lose two in three seasons? How would Buckeyes fans react if Ohio State had to play eight B1G teams in a row without a break, with two of the last four games on the West Coast?

Im not as much as much of an x and o's guy as lot of you here are but I could call/see 80 plus% of Steins plays before they happened. THAT has to change.

Yeah, the poor oregon hoops might get me dusting off the clubs as well...

Wilner: there are just three occasions in which a West Coast team with normal rest faces an opponent that has an extra week to prepare. And two of those are home games: UCLA hosts Wisconsin and USC hosts Ohio State. The unseemly road assignment falls to the Ducks, who host Nebraska, then visit rested Illinois.

Six B1G programs without back-to-back road games: Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, Penn St, Purdue Win some, lose some, when it comes to scheduling these days.

It's the result of the college football schedule and only one bye this season. Duke plays 8 straight ACC opponents after a bye. Georgia Tech plays 7 then Georgia for No. 8 - gulp. In the Big12, Kansas plays 9 after its bye: Middle Tenn, then 8 straight Big12 opponents. That's just a couple examples. It's happening in more than just the Big Ten.
