Bryce Boettcher Is A Beast!
BB led the Senior Bowl with ten tackles; the next closest player had five, and he broke up a pass attempt. He also proved that Tennessee players don't receive a terrific education, and/or they don't like helmets with feathers. The Vols player that BB ticked off pregame punched him three times squarely in the helmet. Brilliant! 🤪

Raiola's Timeline for Recovery
WOW! So much for the attempt at Animal House humor. Perhaps you have to be 70+ long in the tooth to have watched the movie and get it? Or, perhaps, I'm long on age and short on Humor? 😁 Mea Culpa. OK, Forum Friends, I love Dylan flaunting today's fashionista flavor. I forgive the Cornhusker crud, and I hope his style of shades will be handed out before the Autzen crowd Shouts. But this doesn't mean you don't have to do your assigment people; this is my job!

Continuity? Lanning’s Hiring Success is Put to the Test
A few other thoughts... I don't remember seeing an annoucement of the new QB or Edge coaches but frankly I have been so busy with end of semester finals and grading that it is amazing I have kept up with anything. But... looking at the updated coaching roster shows some interesting things. https://goducks.com/sports/football/coaches Quarterbacks coach is Koa Ka'ai which was predicted to just get the promotion from within and it looks like the new edge coach is Kamran Araghi. both appear to be promotions from within. Lanning is certainly betting on himself and what he already has on staff. If it doesn't work out then I could see Lanning making some big moves in terms of coaches... but I am not feeling as confident about these two position coach promotions from within. Edges didn't produce enough last year.

The Perfect Oregon Ducks T Shirt For.......
That's so awesome. I remember seeing other kids there. I was a bit too shy to just walk up to somebody I didn't know to say howdy. What an amazing coincidence.... I've revisted that show, both video and in my music collection. It's not bad to check in once in a while to bolster my memory. 😆

Raiola's Timeline for Recovery
Yeah, I don't care what the guy looks like if he does the work and becomes a great player for OBD. Looks like the timing will be for him to be ready for back up duty this coming year and maybe ready to start next year. That's a long time from now and a lot can happen. Glad he wants to be a Duck.

Continuity? Lanning’s Hiring Success is Put to the Test
Without being in the coaches room and without any backdrop...... We could consider these promotions were made to keep them from leaving Oregon to take possible promotions at Cal and Kentucky? Doesn't diminish that both our new DC and OC aren't extremely qualified. Remember only 2 players with remaining eligibility left for the NFL. Those who remained knew who their OC or DC was going to be. Speaks volumes to me. GO Ducks.......

Football Is Over, Baseball Is Around The Corner And Basketball Is A Hot Mess
"OBD would have been lucky to get to 16 wins at full strength imo." I tend to agree. Injuries are no doubt a factor, belonging to a stronger basketball conference regardless of travel is also a factor. But, the 5-year trend is not good. 2024-25: 25-10, 1 NCAA tourn win 2023-24: 24-12, 1 NCAA tourn win 2022-23: 22-15, 2 NIT wins 2021-22: 20-15, 1 NIT win It appears the staff is stale in terms of both recruiting in today's environment and coaching. I don't doubt Dana's heart. Or, his career record. But, he may be too old to initiate the program changes that need to be made? I love what he has done for Oregon, and would hate to see him go out on a season like this, really hate it, but... I loved coach Mike Montgomery too. He knew when to retire. Dana's time may be coming.

Bryce Boettcher Is A Beast!
Looks like everything Dan Lanning said about Bryce Boettcher being an absolute animal even in practice was true! He may be slightly smaller than the prototypical NFL size but he clearly easily makes up for it in his ball knowledge and sheer physicality. I am excited to watch him at the next level.

Raiola's Timeline for Recovery
Whenever I see the name Riaola I can't get the picture out of my head. I sat there on a nice sunny Saturday afternoon in Bloomington and watched him throw 44 times and 3 interceptions. Granted his OL was being rushed liked crazy with Bryant's Haines's defense but a couple of those interceptions were just bad bad QB decisions. I have discussed him on X with other Duck fans (any of them here under a different name?) and I am just not that sold on him even with a great Oregon OL and a year to learn the system. But I am not a full time coach, just an old arm-chair QB expert I guess.

Clif Marshall was the Strength and Condition Coach for Indiana's basketball team after his time working with the Cincinnati Bengals. I need all the recovery I can get at my age but I might have to pass on the recovery shoe that the Ducks will be wearing even with a high recommendation by an ex IU coach. 😎

I have not read Joel Klatt's article yet but will. Your comment caught my eye about OSU, Michigan and Northwestern schedules. You know me, you're missing IU ... 😂 IU goes to Michigan, Washington and Nebraska. They play Ohio State, USC and Minnesota at home. Granted NOWHERE near as hard as Northwestern's schedule but there are at least 4 games there that could be a loss. But now looking at Michigan's schedule I see your point about leaving Indiana off your list of difficult schedules.

Relax Jon. I know you're still fighting ice and snow, but here it is 60 degrees and sunny. All is right with the world except Mens BB. Some of us have natural curly hair and I'm sure Uncle Phil has Riaola all decked out in the finest Duck Gear.

Ducks Are Big Winners of BIG Schedule Release
Oregon has lowered the SOS for OOC games for IU. They had scheduled North Texas before all of this movement. LOL .. one interesting thing is North Texas signed a QB in the portal that started at IU two years ago when Rourke was injured and had surgery on his passing hand thumb. I agree with you Jon ... that Oklahoma State game will be interesting. I wonder if they can get that large number of portal players playing well enough to battle a team as good as Oregon, who might be ranked #1 by that 2nd game for each team. People can say well if Cignetti brought 15 JMU players and played well in their second game ... ONE BIG difference. OSU is playing a possible 2026 National Champion Oregon Ducks ... while those 15 JMU players were racking up 73 points against some team called Western Illinois. 😂 I think from what I saw last year, North Texas was a very good team, high scoring ... beat Washington State and Navy .. but that team is not the new Oklahoma State team. IMO it does not matter if they a great staff, good players from NT and OSU ... they will have not faced a defense anything like Oregons. Could it be a shoot out? Last team that has the ball wins? For that to happen OSU's high paced and passing game would have to have time to throw the ball. I don't see that happening. It might be close for a half since it is the 2nd game of the season for both teams but overall I see Oregon blowing them out. The Oregon defensive front will be too much for anything that Oklahoma State can line up as an OL. Oregon will also play another similar game vs UCLA. Chesney has brought 15-17 JMU players with him. No doubt UCLA will be a better team on both sides of the ball than they were last year. By the time that game is played both teams will have played 4 games. I think that will be a more interesting game than the Oklahoma State game.

Your own QB passed for 305 yards and 2 TDs against his defense. I have to wonder where Perich was on that 23 yard TD pass by Darius Taylor?

Football Is Over, Baseball Is Around The Corner And Basketball Is A Hot Mess
Keep an eye on that coach at St Louis. When he left Indiana State I didn't know if he was 'big time" although ISU was a good team, a tourney team. I think this year he has proven that the big name teams are going to come after him if they need a coaching replacement. Not sure he could recruit on the west coast but he seems to know how in the Midwest. NIL and this NBA stuff has changed everything. I am sure that has taken a toll on DA. As far as teams ... there are times, great or good players don't blend well enough to make a team. Chemistry is bad in the locker room and that is really hard to fix, especially in today's environment. This just might be a year that all teams go though ... "they didn't mess" ... It happens. Then the more you lose the more you don't care.

Continuity? Lanning’s Hiring Success is Put to the Test
Well as Dan Lanning has said, on numerous occasions, that he wants the individual success for his coaches and staff, as he does for the young men that play under his tutelage. The burgeoning coaching tree speaks highly of this approach. OBD rocks!

Foxy Joel Klatt with a look at B1G mega-conference 2026 schedules. Thanks, Joel, for the insight into the obvious: the ACC, Big Ten, B12, and the SEC all have in-conference schedules with significant differences in degree of difficulty. This is one B1G reason the Power 4 should support Tony Petitti's 16-team, automatic-qualifier PO format. Ohio State, Michigan, and Northwestern have difficult schedules. Oregon football innovation continues, as Ducks get Nike recovery shoeThroughout this century, the Oregon Ducks football program has been one of the standards in college football in terms of innovation, whether it be Chip Kelly's spread, up-tempo offense, vast uniform combinations or the multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art indoor practice facility that is currently being constructed. Now, add the Ducks football program receiving their very own Nike recovery shoe to the list. Cliff Marshall, an esteemed trainer, shared the news on his X account.
