Miami had some very good football teams in the 1970s and 80s. One of those teams was matched against Georgia in the old Tangerine Bowl IIRC. I was in Athens by then, was familiar with Miami during the three years I had spent in MAC country, and warned Dawg partisans they had better prepare diligently for this team or risk getting their butts kicked. Vince Dooley preached the same message, but the scuttlebutt I heard surrounding the upcoming game was that Ole Coach was crying wolf as he so often did. I don't remember the score but Miami did indeed kick some tail that game and were clearly the better team on the field that day. Had the two teams played 10 games, I think Miami would have won seven of them!

Wow, what a way to end the Men's BB season. I had shut down my computer when we were down three with 16 seconds to play, but thought I'd better check back before opening this topic. Glad I did! What are your thoughts on this year's edition of Dana's boys?

Oregon loses 2-1...and guess what? We left a runner stranded in scoring position! Not a game of timely hitting...

2-1 Purdue after eight innings. Collin Clarke came out and pitched his eighth inning with over 107 pitches--and kept them scoreless again. Gabe Miranda hit a homer over the RF wall...and of course we had nobody on base when he did it. Several times earlier in the game...never mind.

2-0 Purdue after six innings. Collin Clarke has held up really well; he gave up the two runs, but has seven KOs and gone six innings for Oregon. Oregon has stranded 10...TEN base runners.

2-0 Purdue after five innings. Collin Clarke has got into some trouble, but pulled out of it with tough pitching. Oregon has stranded eight base runners through five innings, hence the goose-egg on the scoreboard.

2-0 Purdue after three innings. Oregon stranded two on base again, and Collin Clarke gave up three hits and plinked a batter to allow the scoring.

I read an article on this team and the relevant number for me was their schedule was ranked next to last of all teams in regards to strength of schedule. They won't be around for long IMHO. Even at 31-0 they are still on the bubble.

Today we face Boilermaker pitcher Zach Erdman, who has a 4.76 ERA, and the most innings pitched on the team coming into this series. Oregon will counter with Collin Clarke on the hill, who has a 2.70 ERA to date. Purdue has a reliever or two who have exceptionally low ERAs left, and I suspect we will see them today. I am expecting a lower-scoring contest this time... My Duck-Buddies: Somewhere around the 3rd inning I will be making my brunch, as the timing is important and I'm not going to disrupt my eating schedule. I am doing intermittent fasting for health benefits, (search in YouTube for information) and when I break my 17-18 hour fast--I gotta eat! Wanted to share something a buddy of mine made for me on his 3D printer. His wife dubbed it the “Thor-O-Gun.” I’m thinking about having him make a few more in our team colors. If anyone’s got suggestions or ideas, I’m all ears. Plan is to mount them on the wall in the man cave.

An "amazing" season. They have won 4 regulation games by 2 points each. And, another 4 games in overtime by a total of 14. Plus, another regulation game by 3 pts. Their last 3 regular season games were 2 pts, 2 pts, and 2 pts in OT. Aside from "luck," the whole psychological aspect of that within a team would make an interesting newspaper column.
