  1. Still waiting for the O line to start road grading… They are not playing to their standard. Yet.
  2. Ducks, 49-3 2 TO 2 sacks 335 yards in the air.
  3. Great article David, thank you! I can only agree with the points you (and others on this thread are making). For me, the depth, athleticism, youth, size, speed, and leadership are all factors that separate this year’s version of OBD from previous versions. The thing I did not see coming that truly sets this group apart is blocking. These guys are not just willing to block, they are like heat-seeking missiles seeking to utterly destroy their targets! You can see it on vertically every play at every level of the field. Not just the big uglies, the speedy skill guys as well! It is like they understand that is what will keep them on the field. THAT is going to make a huge impact on this year’s success. Go Ducks!
  4. None of us saw a 66 point beatdown coming! Congrats to both Solar and VegasDuck on an impressive WAG. Looking forward to shucking some corn next week!
  5. Maybe they can invite Oklahoma State to join the Pathetic Association of State colleges?
  6. The defense has two 3 and outs and have been on the field 3 times more than the offense! I have to admit,, I am having a hard time finding something to vent at. Go you Mighty Ducks, GO!
  7. Take the lowest tier of the old PAC 12, add a bunch of mid level Mountain West teams and expect them to be P5 competitors? C’mon man, not ever gonna happen. Do we call them the PASC 8 now? Pacific Association of State Colleges…
  8. The team with the most Ducks wins!
  9. Yesterday the O and the D were vanilla by design. DL and company were way more interested I putting young guys into live game scenarios to get a read on their ability to contribute to the team. I hope they were impressed, I was! I agree that we won’t show much more of our offense (or defense) until the Penn State game. We don’t need to dig deep four our next few opponents. Go Ducks!
  10. Gotta put a smile😀 on your face for the future of OBD!! This kind of young depth is essential for a deep playoff run. The DEPTH I saw today was awesome! The difference between #1 and #3 is almost miniscule! The more DL can get these young men playing now, the better they (and OBD) will pay dividends in a long season.
  11. What impressed me was BALANCE and DEPTH! 253 yards on the ground and 253 yards in the air! We got to see 4 different players at QB, 2 of whom threw and completed (#5 and #16) at least one pass for 253 yards. (and yes, Dante looked like the real deal!) Twelve Ducks got at least one carry for 253 total yards. Seven were running backs (#6, #23, #0, #27, #21, #20 and #22), three were QB (#5, #10, and #12), and two were receivers (#1 and #18). Between them, they had a 6.5 yards per carry average Ten Ducks (#4, #22, #3, #2, #1, #18, #11, #14, #17, and #20) got to catch at least one pass for 253 yards. Between them, the pass catches averaged 10.1 yards per catch! All in all, the Duck offense had 10 possessions and scored 9 TD and 1 FG. Zero punts. Defensively, twenty-eight Ducks got one or more tackles and one or more passes defended! Two had 5 tackles, three Duck Defenders had 4 tackles, and four has 3 tackles! #10 started his season right with 2 sacks, and #32 has a sack as well! The Defense combined for 7 TFL! The same defense that held MT St to 17 first downs and 244 total yards. Pretty good showing for a first outing. They can feel better about themselves than Texas, Alabama, Kansas St., Boise St., or Illinois feel about their opener!
  12. Do we see Austin in the 3rd, and maybe Luke in the 4th?
  13. I’ve been wondering the same thing, is he hurt?
  14. Oh no! Two first downs! Let the hating begin!
  15. Thank all that is holy and most that is not! Football is back!
  16. OBD, 38-10 2 TO 3 Sacks 315 yards passing Go Ducks!
  17. Thank you Charles for this new freedom to vent. It is probably a good thing. However, I know I will find it hard not to come back with a snide comment to any of the “sky is falling”, “fire the coach”, “our coaches/players/play-calling sucks” comments from some of the fans on the page. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, this is a GAME, played by KIDS. That means the ball is going to bounce in funny ways, and kids are going to make mistakes. The doomsayers and negative Nellie’s need to buck up and take a breath before tearing into OBD, cause I for one am gonna have a hard time just leaving those derogatory comments alone. Maybe I will just watch the games And look at comments later. Don’t want to get in trouble for defending OBD from ill thought out, derogatory remarks about my favorite team in CFB.
  18. Every year they serve out the SEC hype train and proclaim them lords of the game, then the B1G shows them how football is really played. Hope it’s not long before we Duck fans are able to say, “It just means Moore!”
  19. Thanks to all who commented. I knew you guys would give me food for thought! I agree, CH and CL were products of a different era, where maybe the coaches really had to take them, and their baggage. I also agree with Charles, that DL would have given both a better chance of successs. At the end of they day, each of us is responsible to control our own demons, nobody else can do it for us. And AnotherOD, thank YOU for the Colt Lyerla inside info and Tight End comparison! Great Stuff!
  20. I don't think a week or maybe even a two-week bye would have hurt the Ducks. The EXTENDED bye hurt all the top four seeded teams. The Ducks played their last regular season game on November 30 against Washington, then beat Penn State in the Championship game a week later on December 7. As the #1 seed, they got to chill out through the holiday season, and 25 days later, on January 1 they got to play in the Rose Bowl, against tOSU2. Ohio State, a team who lost their last regular season game with Michigan, got a bye during the B1G Championship weekend, then played Tennessee on December 21, getting a 10-day bye going into the Rose Bowl. I think one long BYE hurts a team significantly more than two short byes.
  21. Ponder Point: Getting ready for the season and watching some old games, I find myself wondering something, and I would really appreciate feedback from this Most Incredible Forum With Decorum. Given Dan Lanning's enormously successful recruiting strategy with an emphasis on Team, character, authenticity, strong relationships, with a focus on family values and building a winning culture, I have been wondering if you guys (Oh Most Learned Fishduck Aficionados) think that Dan Lanning and crew would have tried to recruit Cliff Harris or Colt Lyerla (or any other wildly gifted former Ducks who self-destructed)? I personally thought both of them were exceptionally talented, but felt they were a little more "it's all about me" than the Dudes who Dan has recruited. Thoughts?
