  1. Ditto. That school would not make that offer. No way.
  2. Yes, it is a state institution, and yes, the state needs farmers, pharmacists, home economists and doggy doctors. The STATE does not need a non self sufficient and under supported athletic department. Neighbor? Be careful how you use that word. I suppose you have never visited sites like Benny’s House or the old Pure Orange. Those posters are your neighbors. When their house catches fire I’m not going to do so much as unroll my garden hose. As far as OBD’s history, I (like you) know it well. My Grandfather coached football at Oregon from 1950-1977. He would take me to practice after school. Dixie Casanova used to babysit me. I used to give Dan Fouts cups of water on the sidelines. My undergraduate degree is in a forest green and lemon yellow folder. John Robinson was at my wedding………that entire duck life was spent looking at schools and states like Nebraska and wondering what if….. ……Could Oregon become a Nebraska of the 80’s? We may be on our way. Yay. Too bad beav. Now fill my prescription. I have a case of Duck Fever.
  3. This is a great example why we should never shed tear one for that program. I hope they die a very public and painful athletic death. I will be in the corner laughing. I just don't get all the posts of concern for OAC athletics from people on here. What do they add? Do people enjoy paying taxes that go support a dying entity? The state is just big enough for one real college athletic program. Always has been, always will be. I can't wait until the day comes when they dynamite their new set of high school bleachers to expand a sheep pasture.
  4. I hate to be a skeptic, but IMHO Oregon will never pull this off in a meaningful way. We can't even get one solid color right. I wish it could happen, but telling the fans of OREGON what they should wear, and getting the info out in an effective manner I believe will be akin to herding cats. I would like to see it. Ain't happening to the degree that it looks good. As a fan base we are different than Penn State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and even Texas Tech robo fans. Not worse, just different.
  5. Charles, after this stunning admission by you I must ask: have you been properly vetted for posting here? I’m glad you saw the light.
  6. --the winner - Ducks --the score - 49-31 --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates - 2 --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team - 5 --the number of passing yards by the Ducks - 395
  7. Texas Tech 45 - Oregon 38 TT wins Oregon creates 0 turnovers (Oregon coughs it up 3 times) Oregon records 2 sacks Oregon passing yards - 290 Oregon's D is what it is until it isn't. PSU does not count.
  8. Oregon 56 - PSU 17 Ducks get 2 takeaways Ducks sack PSU 2 times 314 yard through the air for the Ducks
  9. As I look at Googlemaps it seems to my untrained eye that there would be room to mirror the other side. However, as mentioned in the other stadium thread, there seems to be a problem with expansion needing an accompanying amount of parking. Before the last expansion I think Autzen SEATED around 42.5K. Now it sits at 54K. 11.5K gain? Does anyone know for sure the ratio of new parking needed to new seats created? I would think 4 tickets to one parking spot would suffice in my aging mind. As I gaze upon Googlemaps I am having a very hard time finding land to put those spaces. The usual suspects of the Masonic land, BMX track, and that science thing all seem viable, however they have not been touched thus far which makes me think the red tape must be voluminous with them. (Also, the amount of little “wetland” islands that exist in the Autzen area seem like wonderful spots for Knife River to dump clean fill like the old north side waste. Think about all of the exhaust that would not be created if the berm did not need to be trucked all the way to Fern Ridge). Could the parking issue be satisfied with an expanded bus presence? Hell, mandate that only electric busses are used if that will help. Get Elon on the blower and get Centennial Boulevard routed underground. We need to think outside the box. From practical to outrageous, all ideas have value. The only wrong answer is “no, it just can’t be done”. I have retired to Las Vegas for a reason: things get done. If Autzen was here there would be no way the locals would not find a way to make it happen. . It’s called “git ‘er done”
  10. Yes. Without question. 2 of the premier private/public schools in the land that happen to be within driving distance. Check Tons of green and yellow alumni in general area. Check. Familiarity. Check Can only help to lure Notre Dame in a few years. Check NOT the beavs. Check. I do not understand the wanting of OAC in all of this. The events of yesterday went a long way to making the state of Oregon a one team state. I have dreamed of this all of my life. We gain nothing by having OAC exist. I don’t even want them as an OOC matchup. Let them enjoy their trip to Albuquerque and their 18K that show up at beandip arena to see the always tricky Wolfpack of Reno.
  11. Longtime listener, first time caller. Charles, I hear you. After graduating from Oregon in 1988 I left Eugene and have never moved back. At the start of my career my mother would mail me RG Sunday sports sections during football season. Living in DC at that time this mailing was my only Duck news. At the advent of the internet (or their abouts) the RG website gave me everything I could hope for: Ducks and Siuslaw HS scores and news. Now I’m retired and live in Las Vegas. I have a lot of couch time to read about what is going on in my favorite part of the country. Unfortunately the RG gives me next to zero info about the things I want to read about. I suppose I would feel differently if I wanted to know about a new inclusive trans show playing at the Hult Center or such. All I want is unbiased news about the local economy, Ducks news, and information about local HS sports. That type of information no longer exists in the RG, at least online. It is sad that a really good paper in a small market can vanish like it has. The Oregonian is not that much better IMO.
