  1. I believe Chip was the defacto position coach for QB at most of his major college stops? 2007: Dennis Dixon 2008: Jeremiah Masoli 2009: Jeremiah Masoli 2010: Darron Thomas 2011: Darron Thomas 2012: Marcus Mariota 2018: Wilton Speight 2019: Dorian Thompson-Robinson 2020: DTR 2021: DTR 2022: DTR 2023: Ethan Garbers 2024: Will Howard Not exactly a Hall of Fame list for NFL consideration, but got what he wanted out of them in college.
  2. If he was asked in 2021, there were probably a bunch of staff at Oregon cringing about the possibility. Chip was an butt-hat to a lot of the staff, donors, fans, alums. Early on I connected it to a different culture coming from the Northeast, but as years went by it was more than that. Then, as he won games, he became even more obstinate. Whether you love or loathe Taggart/Cristobal, they demonstrated Oregon could recruit to a Northwest outpost. To me, that also diminished my interest in Chip returning. Day did not add him to his staff to recruit. As long as tOSU is successful that won't matter, but over time the rest of the staff may have some feelings about The Great One sitting on his butt in the football offices while they work the phones and hit the road? He clearly prepared a great game plan for the Rose Bowl. But, he had the advantage of very skilled players too. Something he didn't have when going 0-fer at UCLA vs Oregon. How many of those Buckeyes were delivered to the roster by Chip? As for taking a shot at Lanning, so be it. But, it had to really rankle Chip that it was a Lanning decision that got the publicity rather than Chip's offense. The Buckeyes have gone 3-fer against Tennessee, Oregon and Texas. They deserve their spot on Monday and Chip gets a piece of the credit. But, that OSU defense has been under-rated all year. At this point the two Oregon games are still the highest score by opponents in 2024 season.
  3. Oregon is probably shorthand for game against defending B1G champion? Would be interesting to know how many of his James Madison portal transfers he will still have in 2025.
  4. Would be interesting to know how many QBs that will start for their teams in 2025 B1G season are from the same state as where the university is located? Small correction: it is not Kinnick Field. It is Kinnick Stadium and Duke Slater Field. Kinda like Autzen Stadium and Rich Brooks Field. Kinnick was a Heisman winner and died in WWII. Slater was a first-team All-American at Iowa and became the first Black lineman in the NFL history. Later earned a law degree and became the second Black judge in Chicago history. Both are in the College Football Hall of Fame.
  5. Ducks were 7 of 29 on 3's. 4 of 18 in second half, though some late attempts were to try to catch up. Altman post-game was not happy about the number of 3 attempts the team was jacking up. Altman: "Bamba 5 turnovers, TJ had 4, we just never gave ourself an opportunity. Really poor offensive possessions." Altman harping on second-chance points and 16 turnovers. "You can't turn it over 16 times. We fell in love with the 3 (7 of 29), didn't execute." On a different note, the game was a sell-out which unfortunately is not frequent. I believe the Ducks are 13-3 at sell-outs since MKA opened in January 2011. But, 16 sellouts in 15 seasons...ugh.
  6. Chip Kelly, who coached in the 2010 BCS National Championship, says the 12-team playoff is more conducive to keeping players and teams focused. In 2010, Oregon didn’t have a conf title game and 37-day wait before playing. 2010 season - Oregon Dec. 4 – Civil War game Jan. 10 – BCS Championship 2024 season – Ohio St Nov. 30 – Michigan Dec. 21 – Tennessee Jan. 1 – Oregon Jan. 10 – Texas Jan. 20 – Notre Dame - has similar schedule, after playing USC Nov. 30
  7. SENSATIONAL 75-YARD ONE-HANDED SCORE; Moore makes the play of the game WWW.NFL.COM Oregon Ducks committed wide receiver Dakorien Moore makes a one-handed 75-yard snag between two defenders following a deep ball from USC Trojans committed quarterback Husan Longstreet...
  8. "...putting the onus on schools to ensure their male and female athletes receive proportionate NIL opportunities and resources—regardless of whether the funding comes from external sources." "Resources" is code for equal outcomes. tOSU's $20 million in football NIL agreements would have to be matched for women athletes. Even though tOSU's NIL may have an outside NIL organization funded by donors interested only in laying NIL dollars on football. OCR further stressed that even when NIL payments are made by third parties, such as booster clubs or collectives, schools remain responsible for ensuring that these funds do not create sex-based disparities. OCR wrote. “The fact that funds are provided by a private source does not relieve a school of its responsibility to treat all of its student-athletes in a nondiscriminatory manner.” If the test was "opportunities" rather than "resources" then there would be some flexibility, but I don't see the advocates of Title IX buying anything except equal outcomes.
  9. Well now, how is this gonna work...? NCAA Athlete NIL Pay Must Be Title IX Compliant, Dept. of Education Says WWW.SPORTICO.COM DoE's Office of Civil Rights has released its long-awaited guidance on Title IX and NIL, two weeks before House v...
  10. Gabriel had four completions of at least 28 yards in the first half in Oregon’s 32-31 victory on Oct. 12. That wasn’t the case at the Rose Bowl as his first long completion — a 44-yarder to Traeshon Holden — didn’t come until there were 30 seconds remaining until halftime. “They dropped eight. First game they played us man. That was their game plan to stop us and they did it to the best of their ability and they succeeded,” said receiver Tez Johnson, who had five catches for 32 yards in Pasadena after having seven for 75 in the first game. Ducks obviously didn't adjust to D-line pressure, and to the D-looks.
  11. "I believe we purposely held back a ton of the passing offense to unleash in the Playoffs." That's an interesting thought. I disagree with that strategy because that element of your passing game is never "practiced" in actual games. Then, you would still be reliant on the dink and dunk when it comes to playoff games because neither your receivers or your QB has experience/comfort in the long game. It's one thing to practice it in practice against teammate DBs who are likely not as aggressive as opponent DBs in games, and another to "practice it" in actual games. Your QB isn't "trained" to look mid/deep, and your WRs not trained to get separation.

  13. He will join 2023 inductee LaMichael James. In 2025, 18 former college players were selected. The original ballot also included Kenjon Barner. RBs Montee Ball and Steve Slaton are part of the 18. But, RB guys like Kenjon who also were not: KiJana Carter, DJ Dozier, Gaston Green, Bryan Hanspard, Garrison Hearst, Craig Heyward, Mark Ingram, Marshawn Lynch. That's pretty heady company joining Barner on the sidelines this time. Oregon connected inductees College Football Hall of Fame: 2025: Haloti Ngata 2023: LaMichael James 2014: Mike Bellotti 2007: Ahmad Rashad (Bobby Moore) 1986: Mel Renfro 1977: Len Casanova 1972: John Beckett 1969: Johnny Kitzmiller 1966: Norm Van Brocklin 1954: Hugo Bezdek
  14. Report in The Athletic that Miami is paying Georgia's Carson Beck $4M for one season, though the writer clarifies he has also heard $3M.
  15. Re: the charter schedule in earlier comment 7:45 pm PT depart Columbus 12:15 am PT arrive Eugene (3:15 am State College/Columbus) Actual was: 6:52 PT depart Columbus (after flight from Penn St to pick up WBB) 11:23 PT arrive Eugene
  16. Ducks final AP ranking x - 2024 (13-1) 2- 2014 (13-2) 2- 2012 (12-1) 3- 2010 (12-1) 2- 2001 (11-1) The other 5 L's on that list are probably your top candidates?
  17. NET rating Not sure how that works, but as I said seven Quad 1 wins for Auburn (NET ranking No. 1) are on average higher than the seven for Oregon, though both seven's are within Quad 1.
  18. expected charter Flight Log for return 4:45 pm PT depart State College (7:45 pm State College) 5:46 pm PT arrive Columbus, OH - pick up women's team (game ended about Noon PT) 7:45 pm PT depart Columbus 12:15 am PT arrive Eugene (3:15 am State College/Columbus)
  19. Ducks are now 7-2 in Quad 1. Tied for Quad 1 most W's with Auburn. Auburn avg opponent rank in Quad 1 is better, but their Quad 2, 3, 4 wins are lower ranked than the Ducks. 7 is a pretty good number at this point in the season. Quad 1 is something you'll hear a lot more about when Bracketology time comes in early March.
  20. Ohio State defense, yards allowed per game 2021: 59th – 372.6 2022: 14th – 321.5 – Jim Knowles becomes D-coordinator 2023: 3rd – 265.4 2024: 1st – 251.1 (15 games) 496 - Oregon in October 276 - Oregon at Rose Bowl
  21. Recent Ohio State spreads: 19-1/2 vs Michigan (10-13) 7-1/2 vs Tennessee (42-17) 2-1/2 vs Oregon (41-21) 6 vs Texas (28-14) 9-1/2 vs Notre Dame That Michigan loss doesn't match USC losing as a 41-pt favorite to Stanford in 2007, but it is truly baffling.
  22. I did not see the game, so commenting "blind" here. Remember: the Pac12 had horrendous basketball officiating and was very inconsistent. The only thing consistent was opponents getting railroaded by officials when the games were in Tucson. Entering the B1G I commented that the Ducks would have to get used to playing a rougher brand of basketball. It was also evident when Pac teams played in the NCAA Tournament, but the B1G would be a whole other world for how games would be called.
  23. OSU points allowed this season in 15 games: 32-Oregon 21-Oregon 17-Nebraska, Tennessee 15-Indiana 14-Marshall, Texas 13-Penn St, Michigan 7-Michigan St, Iowa, Northwestern 6-Akron 0-W. Michigan, Purdue 12.2/game is best in the nation 14.3/game, No. 2 is Notre Dame Scoring offense 37.0 for Notre Dame, 6th 35.8 for OSU, 13th
  24. Smith? Yes 1 reception, 3 yds, after 3 quarters. Tennessee and Oregon combined: 13 receptions, 290 yds
  25. 14-7 half-time... So far, the Ohio State roster is doing a good job of stopping both offenses. Well, 7-0 until 30 secs. left 178 yds - Texas 236 yds - Ohio State
