  1. My favorite take is them thinking they’re doing us a favor by agreeing to play us, that we desperately need them for budgetary reasons. Some of them think they could even get 2 or 3 home games for 1 at Autzen because OBD so desperately wants to play them. I lost all empathy when they blamed OBD for their situation and successfully doing exactly what they continue to try to do. Because no one wanted or wants them, we are back stabbers and they are virtuous. To this day, they would instantly join the ACC or B12 if they received an invite. To this hypocrisy I say, sit and spin Beavis.
  2. They only get as much attention as we each personally choose to give them. As the adage goes, don’t hate the player… I’m not trying to pi$$ in anyone’s cornflakes if hanging on the edge of your seat based upon the social media posts of a 17-year old kid is your hobby or job, but the cut and paste responses seen on every board at every program every time a kid flips or hits the portal should ideally be beneath us. It’s going to happen, everywhere, including to OBD. This kid probably isn’t evil and will be welcomed with open arms if he changes his mind again. Personally, macro recruiting for me keeps me in my happy place. I get excited about names on signing day (to a degree) and in June when we know the roster for the fall. Until then it’s aggregate and nameless.
  3. This. Nomenclature is changing. The word “scholarship” no longer means the same thing if “walk-ons” are going to school for free and being compensated.
  4. Good points on where the bar is set, anything north of 2 wins was acceptable in year 1 at CU. It will be interesting to see what happens after year 2 if he goes 4-8 in the B12. CU soaked it all up last year, but even they will lose patience at a certain point. Loses his QB after this year and the recruiting is pretty much at garbage level in 2025. Not sure how many times you can portal in 37 3 stars and be any good.
  5. I think UCLA will do better than expected, in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if they finish ahead of UW. All looks pretty accurate to me, something tells me for 10-18 beat writers are not putting a lot of thought into it.
  6. Unlimited recording with YouTube as well, lot of options out there now I'd encourage people to investigate!
  7. Not to derail, but I made a similar switch about 5 years ago. Went from traditional Dish to YouTubeTV, but had to add Sling Orange for 5 months per year to get P12 network…which btw was still significantly less than having Dish for 12 months. Sling and YouTube are very similar conceptually, but I find the tech and interface with YouTube to be a significant upgrade. The beauty of this is there is no commitment or service call needed. You could switch every month if you wanted with zero human interaction
  8. The entire premise of this thread still cracks me up. Like scientists at Beavis Engineering Labs finally cracked the code and discovered NIL involves compensation to players. Victims. Poor Beavis.
  9. I started to pay attention at the micro level, this is a solid reminder why I avoid doing so
  10. For me B1G network is included with YouTubeTV Peacock is included with my Xfinity ISP Think I’m set…cost me way less than last year.
  11. Going to be interesting to watch Beavis at QB in real life. QB room is very unsettled with limited options. Even if they had the exact same roster as last year, except at QB, this would be worrisome for them. They’re combining these QB prospects with a completely gutted offense, a reliance on undeveloped/mediocre transfers, and a first year HC. Very high chance things will not go very well this season, even with them slumming (in their view) in a MWC schedule.
  12. Spot on, people are so weird, but they almost all say a hybrid of, “we like a player who wants to be a Duck and loves football, not just money”.
  13. Lot of ifs to be sure. I don’t think the ACC will implode anytime soon. Even if by some miracle the ACC loses FSU, Clemson, and UNC before 2026…what remains in the ACC would still be more attractive than anything the PIG2 could offer. I think the ACC would add East Carolina, App State, etc. before adding Corvallis and Pullman. I also don’t think anyone is leaving the B12 that they just joined with the hope that the PAC could get an okay tv deal. Travel for B12 new members really isn’t made any easier going back to some funky form of the PAC. The PIG2 should be a bit concerned about the MWC getting annoyed. At some point they might be like, hey, these two really aren’t adding anything, and they’re actually arrogant. Why do we want them? The original PIG2 carrot was the potential of being able to offer playoff access as a P5, without that, what are they bringing to the table besides misplaced arrogance?
  14. The "war chest", while mostly real (and completely unearned) really only permits the PIG2 to quasi-pretend to be P4 teams for 2 years. If they wanted to maximize their funds they should have bought their way into the B12 when the iron was hot, immediately. The longer they wait, the less value they bring. I personally think the ship has sailed, but if their fans somehow get satisfaction for 2 years of being able to say they have a P4 budget, I guess that awesome for them...somehow.
  15. I’ll also add that, yes, it’s a video game with some interesting choices here and there. But our offense is stacked, especially at WR. I myself lose track of the talent we’ve been compiling at the individual level because I personally am “Mr. Macro” for recruiting until we get to August. But now playing this game and putting jersey numbers with names and abilities on the virtual field is very exciting to see. Our top 3 WRs have the potential to be completely ridiculous. Only like 2-3 teams will be able to even think about dealing with our offense. Can’t wait!
  16. Played the game quite a few hours last night, good times! There is no question EA has over-rated a handful of teams to diversify interest. Can’t have CU on the cover and have them completely suck…EA knows how to make $$. As to Boise, I hope to smash them, badly. I lived in Moscow ID for 10 years and grew to dislike them on multiple levels. That being said, they are considered one of the more likely G5 candidates to make the playoff. Beating a playoff team by 10 wouldn’t be the worst thing ever.
  17. Tough one. What defines best? Most talented players? Elevating the program? Team or individual accomplishments? How do you differentiate between a player elevating the program and a player benefiting from the elevation of the program? Tough indeed. I’d start by mostly ignoring pure stats, just doesn’t consistently translate across eras. Lot of players with ridiculous stats the last 15 years. I think I’d really go with players that had signature moments, seasons or careers that helped elevate everything. Musgrave - broke through getting us a bowl appearance and win. Dude was everything to us breaking through on this front. As others noted, when he was healthy, away we went. Both times he got injured we disappeared. Mariota - Only Heisman winner, won a playoff game, etc. Rarefied air on all fronts Kenny Wheaton - The pick changed the program. Clutch as it gets and continued to be a really good player after his frosh year. Brooks - Ultimately got us to the Rose with utter garbage conditions.
  18. There are actually many in their camp that think they’re doing OBD a favor by allowing us the privilege of playing them. If we pound them this year I wouldn’t be surprised if they backed out of the return trip.
  19. I’d vote nope to scheduling big time OOC games. Keep it regional and dumb it down. Big Sky, MWC and random G6, rinse and repeat until schedules are no longer set by schools. If our goal is to play 16-17 games, which would include, a B1G schedule, conference title game, and up to 4 additional playoff teams…IMO there is no incentive to willingly make it more challenging.
  20. BTW - fun to do some sorting with that chart. Beavis’ average NIL deal was more than OBD’s in 2022, but they don’t buy players. Like everything they whine about, they do exactly what OBD does, they just aren’t very good at it.
  21. I wasn’t going to nitpick since your post was on But Columbus population is north of 1M. That being said, I think Tucson metro is also north of 1M, but it still feels like a cowtown.
  22. Also trying not to be cruel, but choosing Ryan Leaf shows how clueless this ragtag bunch is. The very same week that the B12 media days, in the same hotel I believe, gets sidelined by a star player getting a DUI and his coach reaction being to state he himself has probably driven drunk “1,000’s of times”, the PIG2 decides that having a multi-substance addict who spent time in jail was just the right symbol to celebrate and give the impression of drinking with college students at a cocktail party. Contrast this with the very well done MWC media days, also in Vegas Solid effort PIG2.
  23. Two stacked teams with OBD most likely having the edge at QB and playing at home, large factors…if they want to make us the underdog, I say, yes please.
  24. Great chart! As to the original question/statement, the correct answer is a question…you aren’t? Good luck with that.
