  1. I think it’s more of a tourism ad than converting the Irish to American football. My brother and I looked at flights to Dublin yesterday, coincidence? I thought that was a fun game, and I don’t think FSU is making the playoff. Line play is questionable and they can’t throw down field, very bad combo. My other takeaway is DJ is not up to snuff, yet he was the starter for Beavis last year. Their apparent starter this year was 3rd string (at best) behind DJ and a kid out of HS and has probably already reached his ceiling. Can’t wait to see the Beavis offense.
  2. Exactly! They’ve both won the sympathy cup in the media, but when the rubber hits the road it’s a big nope. They should be careful about getting too cutesy with the MWC. It was one thing when they could theoretically offer the P12 banner and the potential of instant P5 status for anyone that joined, without that, what exactly are they bringing to the table that’s any better than what they already have in the MWC? I wouldn’t be paying any large fees to leave the MWC for what the PIG2 will be offering.
  3. I personally don’t think they’ll make the cut. They aren’t suddenly more appealing to the B12 with the passage of time. B12 currently at 16, UCONN would be 17 and it makes a lot of sense adding that basketball juggernaut asap. I’m guessing they stand pat after that to see what the ACC does. Beavis’ reality is going to be what many of us have thought for a year. Joining the MWC…if they’re still wanted.
  4. Everyone is still undefeated! With Beavis, that’s just to not be eliminated from consideration, they’d still need a ton of help if they managed 11-1. Them choosing the independent route is a huge mistake IMO. 11-1 and then winning the MWC championship game would have about made them a shoe in. Those stolen funds are nice for two years, I guess, but they should have been doing everything they could to increase their odds of making the playoff right now, having no league affiliation is not that route. Not that it matters, 8-4 at best.
  5. Pete is 72 currently and the college game has completely changed from 20 years ago. Feel free to go down a rabbit hole USC, I encourage it 😂
  6. Not to yell at the clouds but I completely agree. I put the lips in the same category as the chainsaw racket.
  7. If most QBs didn’t bust in the NFL every roster would have quality QBs 3 deep, but alas, about half don’t even have a very good starter…just look at who the Raiders are starting when they could have drafted Bo 😩 I think Marcus was the perfect fit for the perfect scheme at the perfect time in college, was fun to watch him from the moment he stepped up in that spring game all the way to pantsing FSU in the Rose.
  8. True, was thinking more about a BSU or Memphis. B12 could easily end up with only 1 or 2 ranked teams, time will tell. The larger point really is that no conference is guaranteed anything, and I think most people believe the P4 are locked into the top 4 seeds. This is also more Beavis foolishness. They can’t be a conference champion. If they’re as good as they think, they should have joined the MWC immediately, gone 12-1, made the playoff, then demanded entry into the SEC. Being the weasels they are, the truth is they thought they had a shot at the PAC keeping its auto-birth with 2 members.
  9. A common misconception is that any conference has a direct tie to a top-4 seeding. The only guarantee is - “The five highest-ranked conference champions and the next seven highest-ranked teams will earn a spot in the 12-team bracket. There is no limit to how many teams from one conference can qualify. The rules also don't guarantee spots for certain conferences” it is widely assumed that the P4 will have the highest rated champions because, well let’s face it, that part of the system could be pretty rigged. That being said, the B12 could be a poster child of unintended consequences if it’s a meat grinder this year with no clear brand name. What happens if the second place team from the B12 is 8-4 and wins their conference title game to finish 9-4? Now imagine the MWC and CUSA champs are both 12-1 or better…what happens? Is the B12 team with 4 losses really going to be ranked higher?
  10. Hilarious. I’m a big fan of ancient history too! Yale has the most football titles in history at 18.
  11. Really is the exception now (3 years at least) unless a guy is good enough to start as a frosh. If a guy is good enough to start for OBD for 2 years he’s probably gone unless he isn’t yet NFL eligible.
  12. Just watched the B1G Network in Columbus, good to see Yogi there. As we get closer to reality, one thing I didn’t realize was that tOSU plays Iowa the week before traveling waaaaay out west. That’s a brutal D to be playing against the week before.
  13. Note that I said more blame, not all blame. The conference was managed by bozos and they should get most of the blame, no doubt. I agree with most of what you said, but I wasnt really considering Texas or thinking of the B12, which is still considered a power conference and legitimately exists. My main point was that USC frequently blamed the conference for their lack of on-field success, but never delivered as the only historical blue-blood. Perception of the conference would have been vastly different if USC regularly contended for and actually participated in the playoff.
  14. This. USC should be getting more of the blame for the demise of the PAC, but instead they failed up.
  15. If I’m USC and my calling card (offense) was dominated by anyone, let alone the USC D, I’d be in panic mode.
  16. Fun to think about! What if we had lost to Arizona (@home, attendance 36k) the next week instead of winning 10-9? I was a senior in the student section the day of the pick, what if instead of never studying and getting a 3.20 in high school I had studied 30 minutes a day, got a 3.50 and gone NROTC at UW like I applied for? 🤔
  17. Curry went bananas! People would put up with not medaling for about 3 seconds, which is what would happen if we unilaterally stopped sending our best players. Not to mention, how do you define amateur with NIL? Even HS players have NIL.
  18. When you’re hoping for 12-0, every game is a trap game really. We also have both us and Purdue playing in Corvallis back to back in September for a direct comparison, that’s bound to be fun.
  19. We’ll see if that’s all they get.
  20. Cheat’n and lose’n…classic combo 😂 They’ve had two double digit win seasons since 2004, didn’t realize they’d slipped into 20 years of mediocrity. Even Beavis manages a 10 win season once a decade.
  21. So hard to say how this will unfold as far as number of wins correlating to making the playoff. For all we know the SEC winner could have 3 losses with the increased competition…or maybe it will be the same as always with Alabama and Georgia dominating. Countless scenarios in our new conference as well. Be most curious to see how comfortable teams are with their playoff outlook at 10 wins. The post season outcomes that aren’t involving a playoff birth all pretty much suck btw. How about the scenario where a team (any team) goes 10-2, ranked #10, doesn’t make its conference championship, and doesn’t make the playoff. It is completely possible. #10 and in the Alamo Bowl, yum! Hopefully they’ll be able to get some good matchups of non playoff teams and elevate a few bowls….but something tells me we’ll be getting a depleted #10 from a P2 versus random 8-4 team.
  22. I’m pretty sure Tennessee participates in “NIL”, and has done so for 50 years +
  23. Spot on. It’s nearly impossible for every conference addition to be a juggernaut at football. Adding a school that’s been the #1 public university for 5 years, is located in LA, plays at an iconic stadium, and has one of the most storied basketball programs ever…these things have a fair amount of appeal. Oh and my daughter is a senior to be there 😜
