  1. Played the game quite a few hours last night, good times! There is no question EA has over-rated a handful of teams to diversify interest. Can’t have CU on the cover and have them completely suck…EA knows how to make $$. As to Boise, I hope to smash them, badly. I lived in Moscow ID for 10 years and grew to dislike them on multiple levels. That being said, they are considered one of the more likely G5 candidates to make the playoff. Beating a playoff team by 10 wouldn’t be the worst thing ever.
  2. Tough one. What defines best? Most talented players? Elevating the program? Team or individual accomplishments? How do you differentiate between a player elevating the program and a player benefiting from the elevation of the program? Tough indeed. I’d start by mostly ignoring pure stats, just doesn’t consistently translate across eras. Lot of players with ridiculous stats the last 15 years. I think I’d really go with players that had signature moments, seasons or careers that helped elevate everything. Musgrave - broke through getting us a bowl appearance and win. Dude was everything to us breaking through on this front. As others noted, when he was healthy, away we went. Both times he got injured we disappeared. Mariota - Only Heisman winner, won a playoff game, etc. Rarefied air on all fronts Kenny Wheaton - The pick changed the program. Clutch as it gets and continued to be a really good player after his frosh year. Brooks - Ultimately got us to the Rose with utter garbage conditions.
  3. There are actually many in their camp that think they’re doing OBD a favor by allowing us the privilege of playing them. If we pound them this year I wouldn’t be surprised if they backed out of the return trip.
  4. I’d vote nope to scheduling big time OOC games. Keep it regional and dumb it down. Big Sky, MWC and random G6, rinse and repeat until schedules are no longer set by schools. If our goal is to play 16-17 games, which would include, a B1G schedule, conference title game, and up to 4 additional playoff teams…IMO there is no incentive to willingly make it more challenging.
  5. BTW - fun to do some sorting with that chart. Beavis’ average NIL deal was more than OBD’s in 2022, but they don’t buy players. 🤔 Like everything they whine about, they do exactly what OBD does, they just aren’t very good at it.
  6. I wasn’t going to nitpick since your post was on 🔥 But Columbus population is north of 1M. That being said, I think Tucson metro is also north of 1M, but it still feels like a cowtown. 😝
  7. Also trying not to be cruel, but choosing Ryan Leaf shows how clueless this ragtag bunch is. The very same week that the B12 media days, in the same hotel I believe, gets sidelined by a star player getting a DUI and his coach reaction being to state he himself has probably driven drunk “1,000’s of times”, the PIG2 decides that having a multi-substance addict who spent time in jail was just the right symbol to celebrate and give the impression of drinking with college students at a cocktail party. Contrast this with the very well done MWC media days, also in Vegas Solid effort PIG2.
  8. Two stacked teams with OBD most likely having the edge at QB and playing at home, large factors…if they want to make us the underdog, I say, yes please.
  9. Great chart! As to the original question/statement, the correct answer is a question…you aren’t? Good luck with that.
  10. Say it again, one Rose win in over 100 years between the PIG2, and that was 80 years ago in Durham, NC. They have never competed.
  11. And OSU is losing out on 3 star QBs to Cal now. Was that because of Cal’s massive NIL program? Cal’s brilliant leadership? Look in the mirror. Victimhood at its finest.
  12. Every clown act lessens the brand…no one will want to come back.
  13. I love the narrative that we somehow played all our games on a beach in 70 degree weather. Salt Lake? Boulder? Pullman? Pacific Northwest (3 other schools), games where it was over 100 at kickoff in the desert in the early fall? Gorgeous pouring rain in the Bay Area in November? We are at most likely looking at one additional bad weather game of snow this year versus any other year in the history of OBD.
  14. But their split title won by election in the early 90s is relevant? Going to be a shame when Florida fires their coach this year.
  15. Was the B1G really any better than the PAC last year? Clearly Michigan was better than UW, but both went undefeated and made the final. Continue down the line and I’d argue the top 5 were pretty on par. Be curious to see how much better the rank and file of the conference really is. I’m starting to think the answer is marginally so at best. They too will be dealing with an improved conference adding at least one more mega game to everyone’s schedule versus last year. Looks like a bunch of UCLA’s to me!
  16. So either getting fired or hired away by the Dallas Cowboys? Psychotic.
  17. Not just the Willamette Valley, I’ve had all sorts of encounters coast to coast. Drove my wife to drop something off for work at a building on the east side (PDX), parking lot looked clear, I waited for her, just out of sight, maybe 100 feet from the front door, in broad daylight mind you. Somewhere between the car and the door of the building, an individual with a face painted red, started getting in her space and menacing her, a bystander (large dude) intervened by yelling “back the F off” multiple times. Point of my story, I can empathize. One slight twist and the red faced person could have been killed, easily. Completely unknown if they actually meant to harm my wife, but who wants to find out?
  18. Take the under on Texas. Everyone was/is mesmerized because they won at Alabama early in the season last year. Very impressive yes, but they’re jumping from arguably the #5 to #1 conference. No playoff for you…next!
  19. Cam was a fine QB, but a certifiable meathead, with all due respect of course. i wonder which QB Dallas would choose if they magically had the rights to either one? 🤔
  20. I get what you’re saying, and it could be true of anyone until we find out in real live action…but how do you know about someone’s intangibles unless you are a coach, family friend, or teammate? Dude hasn’t even taken a snap for us yet, what are these intangibles of which you speak? Asking for a friend 😂
  21. Great rundowns! The bowl tie ins and mindset need to all go, pronto. Personally the 12-team format would be more difficult for me (if I was on the committee) if the top-4 weren’t automatic. Determining the top-4 without a conference championship requirement would be incredibly difficult. That being said, I still think 12 teams is easier than 4. We previously had a system with 4 spots and 5 power conferences, guaranteeing at least one P5 champion would be excluded every year. It’s actually amazing to me that there wasn’t a seismic occurrence prior to FSU, a year where every conference champ finished 11-1 for instance. The demise of the PAC makes this far easier. I personally don’t believe it would be that difficult to tell a 9-3 team that finished #12 at the end of the season they didn’t qualify for the 12 spot tourney…tough luck buttercup, lose one less game next time Okie State.
  22. I do enjoy that the SC fan seems to imply OBD has moved on to bigger fish to fry. Second tier?
  23. Ok, forgot until…this year? 😂 This consolidation to the P2 is going to make some new worlds collide.
  24. Crazy average! At first I though you were talking about how few recruits Beavis has on the board *yuck yuck* Did you hear about that great recruit Beavis is hosting this weekend? Oh wait, they aren’t hosting anyone…but I hear in an effort to retain some players from being poached by Arizona State they’re having a good sack race soon. They do things the right way.
  25. Even though we’re 2-0 against Texas since 2000, I’m pretty sure they forgot we existed until yesterday.
