Oregon Football: The Sky is Not Falling
Look, that offensive performance was absurd. However, it’s not like we were playing a high school team that had a bunch of undersized 225lb defensive linemen. Idaho is accustomed to winning (shocking after I spent 10 years working there with horrible football) and their roster has 6 defensive line players listed at 285+. A great game plan and very good execution doesn’t care how many stars you had as a recruit. Their D played a great game and our players thought it t was going to be easy after our first TD. Play them in week 9 and we might get a very different score. Inexcusable mindset, hopefully lesson learned.

Oregon Football: The Sky is Not Falling
I agree, sky is far from falling unless we see the same thing against Boise, which I don't think we will.

A Noah Whittington Problem?
Noah is listed as a Redshirt Junior btw.

What Will It Take To Make The Next Big Step?
Bedford is listed as an OT on 247, I was going off of that. In any event, even OSU had a better line than us last year, and so far we’re not looking too hot this year. If we want to take the next step it’s all up front. I’m still hopeful we’ll get more cohesion next week and that will be taking the next step, right now.

What Will It Take To Make The Next Big Step?
Which to me makes our lack of recruiting inside even more of a whiff for 2024. We’re that thin with depth and only added one 3 star IOL in the cycle. How do you not add another portal guy or 2?

What Will It Take To Make The Next Big Step?
Better O-Line recruiting. Out of HS, our 2024, #4 recruiting class had one interior line recruit and he’s a 3 star….and zero IOL from the portal. When you do this you end up with a walkon starting apparently.

I Only Have One Word for This Game...
O-Line A walk-on starting at center is not a positive, that’s lipstick on a pig imo. I think the coaches knew the line is an issue and developed a game plan that utilized getting the ball out of the QBs hand in under 2 seconds. That being said, we’re not doomed, we’ll know all we need to know after next week. If the offense looks more like Oregon, all will be well. If it’s more of the same we in trouble.

What is YOUR Mario Cristobal Philosophy?
As a follow up, since the PIG2 don’t wish their former players well, I find myself wanting to see Martinez and Ward light it up. Not to mention, if Florida stinks it up, UW might lose their coach again. The petty wars are tough in this one.

Watching Other FBS Games This Week: Thoughts?
No doubt, good thing I’m not a player! I think Wisconsin is going to struggle this year. They brought in an air raid guy they still aren’t designed for, and a questionable transfer QB that couldn’t cut it in the ACC. They’re in conflict with their nature, big mistake IMO.

Watching Other FBS Games This Week: Thoughts?
My biggest take so far is the B1G is still mostly caveman football. Wisconsin is supposed to be some trap game? Only if it’s a blizzard and our 2 deep on offense have the flu. Oh, and CU will be lucky to win 4 games.

OMIGOSH! The Beavers May Not Be Welcome in the Mountain West Conference?
For sure. They really don’t have to anything offer with the PAC banner other than an attempt to assert themselves as “in charge” to anyone that might consider joining. They really are giving off a vibe of it being “their” conference. Why would anyone want to join? In turn, specifically with the MWC, how could this not rub them the wrong way if the PIG2 eventually “lower” themselves to joining the MWC? What do they really bring to the table? I think for the piggies, it’s BIG12 or bust at this point in time as the ACC is not going to be adding anyone anytime soon…subject to change if the PIG2 finally realize they should have joined the MWC immediately.

Comcast Test: Were They Honest?
Great if it works and that’s a good deal, I need the bigger bandwidth though. Xfinity still has a choke hold on my part of town for 1000+

Comcast Test: Were They Honest?
I’m in the same boat as you, but have been unable to free myself from the yoke of Xfinity as my ISP. I try about every 4 months and still can’t find a viable substitute, even in PDX. I had Google Fiber for 3 years when I lived in Raleigh, NC…it was fantastic and half the price, highly recommended if available in your area.

Whoops! Ty Thompson...
Was it unpopular? It may well have been and I didn’t realize it. I definitely remember Nix being unpopular initially, but I for one had definitely seen enough of the deer in headlights, robo-mechanics of Thompson to not be surprised.

With the Ducks Playing a Potato, Check Out These Games
Good food for thought. I'm solidly with JJ here. League play and the playoff itself are challenging enough, choose the path of least resistance with what you can control. This is compounded to an even greater degree with the SEC only playing 8 conference games while the B1G plays 9. Success in the playoff provides more benefit than any random big-time OOC matchup. In the end, no one will be impressed if Michigan misses the playoff because of a regular season loss to Texas...they'll just remember they went 9-3 and played in the Cheez-It Bowl.

Oregon Ducks Football: 3 Things to Watch Against Idaho
I worked at the UI for 10 years not too long ago, know a lot of people in Moscow. Yes, I had season tickets in the Kibbie Dome…was brutal. I was a huge advocate for them moving to FCS. They’re breaking in a new QB, so will be interesting to see if they use as many offensive shifts as they did last year. Welcome to being the starter Idaho QB! BSU is probably going to be better than Beavis. We could technically survive a loss (depending on the nature of the loss) to them and still make the playoff, not that I think that’s going to happen. A narrow miracle loss to a 13-0 BSU in September would not kill us and might actually improve our strength of schedule if we ended up going 10-2. But I certainly hope the players don’t overlook them, really don’t like them after my time at UI. One thing that cracks me up is us fans telling each other not to overlook a game, we can look ahead as much as we like, we aren’t, uh, on the field. 😉

College Football Chaos Begins! GT > FSU 24-21
I think it’s more of a tourism ad than converting the Irish to American football. My brother and I looked at flights to Dublin yesterday, coincidence? I thought that was a fun game, and I don’t think FSU is making the playoff. Line play is questionable and they can’t throw down field, very bad combo. My other takeaway is DJ is not up to snuff, yet he was the starter for Beavis last year. Their apparent starter this year was 3rd string (at best) behind DJ and a kid out of HS and has probably already reached his ceiling. Can’t wait to see the Beavis offense.

Interesting Article on What a Team Needs to do to be Considered for an At-large Berth in the CFP:
Exactly! They’ve both won the sympathy cup in the media, but when the rubber hits the road it’s a big nope. They should be careful about getting too cutesy with the MWC. It was one thing when they could theoretically offer the P12 banner and the potential of instant P5 status for anyone that joined, without that, what exactly are they bringing to the table that’s any better than what they already have in the MWC? I wouldn’t be paying any large fees to leave the MWC for what the PIG2 will be offering.
-
Interesting Article on What a Team Needs to do to be Considered for an At-large Berth in the CFP:
I personally don’t think they’ll make the cut. They aren’t suddenly more appealing to the B12 with the passage of time. B12 currently at 16, UCONN would be 17 and it makes a lot of sense adding that basketball juggernaut asap. I’m guessing they stand pat after that to see what the ACC does. Beavis’ reality is going to be what many of us have thought for a year. Joining the MWC…if they’re still wanted.
-
Interesting Article on What a Team Needs to do to be Considered for an At-large Berth in the CFP:
Everyone is still undefeated! With Beavis, that’s just to not be eliminated from consideration, they’d still need a ton of help if they managed 11-1. Them choosing the independent route is a huge mistake IMO. 11-1 and then winning the MWC championship game would have about made them a shoe in. Those stolen funds are nice for two years, I guess, but they should have been doing everything they could to increase their odds of making the playoff right now, having no league affiliation is not that route. Not that it matters, 8-4 at best.

Pete Carroll, Returning to USC As Teacher, Comments on 'Desire' to Coach Again
Pete is 72 currently and the college game has completely changed from 20 years ago. Feel free to go down a rabbit hole USC, I encourage it 😂
