  1. This is macro versus micro for me, and mostly because of the portal. I absolutely pay attention to the overall picture and still get excited when we sign a 5 star, but I don’t even pay attention to the players names on the roster until the spring portal closes. With high school recruiting I’m even worse, “blah blah blah 5 star LB blahahblah blah” is what I hear. I've become a dog, only comprehending select words.
  2. Is 30 years ago still modern? I was in the student section that day, and it was in a word, completely bananas. I would agree that this was the game that made me believe from that point forward. I absolutely did not believe prior, and actually skipped the Iowa game…this game specifically was no doubt a turning point. I’m sure you all remember the feeling of “here we go again” during this very game. Deep in our collective souls, we thought that the choke was on. Then it happened, and my brain was never the same again. I think this was the day we actually became a legitimate program and never looked back. The fact it may well no longer be modern and we’ve sustained for 30 years means we may well be blue blood now.
  3. Good link, thank you! Any big boy team not called ND already doesn't control 8-9 games on the schedule…but yes, one day in “super league” I would anticipate an NFL style scheduling system.
  4. Really depends on how big each conference wants to get before reformatting completely to some type of super league. Things get very unwieldy north of 20 schools imo, and frankly, there aren’t enough candidates in the ACC for both conferences to get north of 20. With that logic, to me it feels like the B1G adds ND and whoever from the ACC, and the SEC adds 4 top brands from the ACC. All about ultimately getting ND and I just don’t see them joining the SEC. So 5 ACC schools and ND at play…unless ND wants to go the SEC, I just don’t think it will be all that sticky. ND FSU Clemson UNC Miami ??? (Duke, UVA, NC State, uhhh)
  5. Looking good! Beavis at #38 seems absurd. Very hard time believing they’re better than Wisconsin, Nebraska, etc.
  6. Savior may be a bit strong, but I’ll take being B1G champs out of the gate.
  7. Maybe he didn’t start being a real life big boy sports writer until just after we won in the shoe, so he missed that one? 😂 I do think they’re getting more than they bargained for in picking us up in what almost felt like an afterthought, and it’s starting to sink in with some of the fans. Our overall athletics resume for 23-24 has got to be at least top-3 in the new league, well at least for sports that can show up on ESPN. They’re starting to sound like USC to me, Trojans are still chapped about our new brotherhood.
  8. He doesn’t even execute his bio cleanly.
  9. LOL - Author AUTHOR: DANIEL FISHER Daniel Fisher Daniel Fisher is a sports writer for Gridiron Heroics covering the NFL and College Football. He has been covering the NFL and College Football for the past two years and with a focus on the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes.
  10. Complete garbage written like it’s 1984, which means it was probably written by a B1G honk who thinks it’s 1984. I’d take an additional step, how has any HC (to date) that left ever done?
  11. Definitely a good point. Need to beat them into the ground. That being said, the first two games are from a different era (end of coach B, year one of Chip)...and I take any result from a lower tier bowl with a huge grain of salt.
  12. Day after Thanksgiving matchup with a couple of mid-majors doesn’t necessarily apply to us. Never say never though. 😆
  13. If memory serves me, they are trying to go independent.
  14. One thing I wonder about, as we start to see “Top G5” rankings come out with Liberty and BSU rated in the top 3 almost universally…are the PIG2 being included with that grouping and really not cracking anyone’s top 10? I'm guessing most of these G5 rankings have an eye towards who can get the playoff birth? Good to be in purgatory Beavis. Going to be a serious “reality sandwich” if Beavis stoops to a G5 schedule affiliation while clinging to being in the PAC, and then proceeds to go 6-6.
  15. It’s interesting to see how much denial their fans are still in. The same thing has happened with every sport this year, yet they continue to be surprised and looking for some other reason they lost entire rosters once each season ended. One day I may start to feel empathy for Beavis, but today is not that day. Enjoy the bean counting victories…your reality sandwich is fast approaching.
  16. Oklahoma State is close from what I hear. If that’s considered quality
  17. Sure I get all that and you’re right on…it’s still a slate of terrible QB’s 😉
  18. True, one can never discount the magic of Cristobal. That being said, the dude struggled with good weapons in the ACC and is coming in at #2? Mama Mia!
  19. Nice article, fun one. I’ve commented many times that 4 of the top 5 contenders in our new conference had new Qb’s, but hadn’t looked beyond that. Have to say, on the surface that’s not exactly murderers row. A washout from Miami makes the top 2, while what used to be the backup QB at Idaho, outranks the guy he used to back up who apparently isn’t good enough to start at OSU? Ethan Garbers at UCLA is the 5th best we’ll face? Seems like a lot of guesses at this point, but that has to be the weakest slate of QBs we’ve faced in decades.
  20. I’d probably add Miami to that equation, and possibly UNC. The “who”, and who they beat will probably be a big factor.
  21. Yeah, I think it will take something extraordinary for the B12 or ACC to get 2. I’m talking like an 11win team that finishes second. Last year the second place teams would have been 10 win Louisville and 9 win Oklahoma State at the end of conference play. Highly doubt they would get the nod over a team with 9+ win team(s) from the big 2. Time will tell!
  22. My post was envisioning a world where the ACC loses its brand names to the big-2, leaving the B12 to try to claim being #3. It’s absolutely a lot of leftovers if the top 4-6 brands in the ACC go to the big-2. All signs point to the ACC falling apart, or greatly diminishing prior to 2036. As to the playoff, I don’t think there's any way the SEC and B1G don’t get at least 3 each. Hard to get to 12 if those 2 only provide 4 teams combined.
  23. Agree. Also interesting that the ACC (which has multiple big brands, B12 has none starting in August) does so much better than the B12…yet is supposed to be the next to fold. If that’s not a sign we’re headed to a codified “super-league”, I don’t know what is. The B12 is not a legitimate #3 football conference.
