  1. Though they are the eternal “sleeping giant”, most of their fanbase doesn’t seem to have giant expectations.
  2. They are always held to their commitments in that there is a penalty (agreed to by both parties) to be paid for leaving early, I don’t recall any breach of contract ever taking place.
  3. Can’t resist. Does Clown just flat out publish guesses as “sources” now? Finishing touches on that inter-galactic broadcast deal happening as we speak? I also like the false equivalency taking place. Indeed, CW could in theory have better distribution than the old P12 network, which would be amazing, if that was the only way they were previously broadcast. They aren’t adding on CW to a ESPN/Fox deal…the CW is it, if it ever happens. Brace yourselves for our regret!
  4. Absolutely, plenty of G5’s have a contender in a sport or two.
  5. I’ve seen quite a few of these Beavis quotes, we must be spying in similar circles! Such a shame. While they are getting a good windfall over time, the windfall laundry list that I’ve seen is everything they have coming in, it’s not like they are receiving status quo pac-12 income and then adding all the stolen money on top and now have an extra $125m each to blow. They have new and recurring expenses (each MWC game, running the PAC, etc.) and no tv deal to date. No one seems to be mentioning their recent stadium re-do ($45M bonded). Is the projected income from gate and donations meeting expectations the next 10 years when they’re hosting San Jose State instead of USC? They also had a $33M COVID related deficit as of last summer. I haven’t done the actual complete spreadsheet by any means, this is just my quick take based upon what I’ve seen, but it seems like the plunder is enough to keep them afloat in high-end G5 style for 2 years…I could be wrong though.
  6. Awesome! Makes me wonder, are DL, Mullens, and Graves in the same building? Is there ever a sense of embarrassment, or “one of these things is not like the other”?
  7. I lived in Raleigh-Durham NC for four years prior to moving back to Portland in 2022. I got random “Go Ducks” almost every time I wore gear. Plenty of people were aware of us and it started quite a few random conversations at Home Depot etc. I’d say anyone that followed sports at all recognized O gear. I think your friend was messing with you if they’re actually a sports fan… I mean unless they don’t have tv.
  8. Maybe I’ve confused? If two members of the PAC had ONE Rose Bowl victory between them over the course of more than a century, that’s not very good…right? I’ll even overlook the fact the victory was played In Durham, NC a few weeks after Pearl Harbor.
  9. Idaho used to be in the same conference as us and is now appropriately in the Big Sky. The PIG2 has been in over their skis for decades and completely fit the G5 profile. This adjustment is nothing new, new divisions have popped up before. Like it or not, football drives the bus of the next separation and they don’t measure up.
  10. Nice article, but Henry’s Ale (green bottles) was my beer of choice in college. 6-pack was $2.50 and was clearly worth the extra 50 cents.
  11. One opinion, and doesn’t really matter as long a we’re top-50 or whatever the count of the top tier ends up being.
  12. The road to apathy is long (5 years) for some, much shorter (this year) for others.
  13. Definitely time for a change, but hey, the current roster finished dead last, so not sure how much this sets anything back.
  14. March Madness was the peak for this fiscal charade, all downhill from here.
  15. Maybe if they explained to the kids the department has got some money coming the departments way they’d want to play G5 ball? No? A solid budget for 2 years doesn’t move the needle on the field/court ?? No?? I'm definitely not noble.
  16. Speaking of breaking, OSU women’s hoops players are starting to enter the portal and Beavis fans are turning on each other…this is going to be a shame.
  17. There may be multiple causes, but one thing that stood out IMO is the lack of an alpha since Sabrina left. Sedona tried, but couldn’t deliver for one reason or another. All the other 5-star types that have left seem like support or complimentary players. Need that alpha…large part of why the men had their recent run was Couisnard stepping up.
  18. Yep, any day now Clownzano.
  19. I’m probably not the best person to explain this, but as I understand it at the most basic level, the language used when announcing all departures forfeited the voting rights of everyone leaving the conference, “immediately” putting the PIG2 in control of all conference decisions. A technicality for a bylaw that IMO was designed for a single school leaving, not 10.
  20. I have to admit to wearing orange for 3 years in grade school when my family lived in Corvallis, but luckily we moved to Eugene as I went into 5th grade and never looked back. My family now has 3 generations of UO degree holders, and none of us even own anything orange, it’s an evil color. I used to marginally root for and wish them well, as long as their doing well didn’t interfere with our success or prospects. Their success after all would help our success, the better the conference, the better we look when we win. No more. The last year has made it clear how much they’ve depended on us for relevance over the last 20 years. They blame us for their shortcomings and then decide what the heck, let’s squeeze out every last drop and somehow finagle a home game, which alone is probably worth $20m on the ledger to them, at least. I’m guessing eventually I won’t wish them ill, but I want them to struggle while they are living off stolen time. Once they solidify and use up their looted funds, I could see becoming indifferent. But orange will still be an evil color.
  21. Thanks for the link, interesting info. For me, this is definitely starting to reach the point where I stop caring. So the PIG2 have $55m of “income” each, each of the next two years, plus whatever lame tv deal they sign. Awesome. I have no idea what Alabama’s gross is. I have no idea what Gonzaga’s gross is. No idea how much Fresno State makes. Etc. I mean, it’s not like they can use the funds to join the SEC or create a super conference, it’s pretty basic budget dollars. They don’t deserve most of them, but (aside from the golden goose game we gifted them) they’ll still be playing San Jose state every week. They’re a group of 5 with a nice budget for 2 years, congrats!
  22. So I’m inferring they have no intent to actually rebuild the conference?
  23. Just curious, if the MWC has a better TV deal, why would any member want to leave for the PIG2 in the next two years? No power conference status, probably worse TV rights, and cede control to a couple of yahoos? What’s the motivation to switch at that point? Will be interesting to watch this unfold.
  24. It is so weird how so many people think that the name “PAC” will retain some kind of impressive value. Some of these people actually think if/when the ACC implodes, they’ll be holding all the cards and everyone will be lining up to join the PAC. The name “PAC X” does not hold much future value in and of itself. It previously had value because of a rich history, P5 status, TV markets of members, and marque brands. The history is in the past and the current members have a terrible history, there is no P5 status, there are no tv markets, and there are no marque brands. It’s not as if they’re going to be re-elevated to P5 status simply by adding any 6 teams with the name PAC-8. There’s still a WAC technically, and no one is confused thinking it has BYU, etc. Delusions of grandeur.
  25. I don’t suppose John had any more scoops on their pending new galactic TV deal that was imminent 3 days ago?
