Merchandise Off Dan Lanning's Words About Oregon...

Cool shirt! Dumpster fire that isn’t measuring up in the SEC that just added Texas. Any non-alum from the power 2 taking that gig is certifiable. Barnes might look though. -
Mens Basketball: Ducks Win Massive Benchmark Game?
JabbaNoBargain replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We still have Arizona twice, LA schools on the road, and Mountain teams at home. It ain’t much, but going 5-1 in those games would probably get us in, assuming no more than 1 other random loss. Those 6 games are critical for an at large. Another thing that would help is another team stepping up and finishing strong. If everyone keeps never winning on the road we’re getting one team in. -
Mens Basketball: Ducks Win Massive Benchmark Game?
JabbaNoBargain replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I should add, part of my reasoning as to why OSU beating UA will cost the Pac2 is that Arizona will be at 6 losses when we beat them, which may well leave the current PAC with zero ranked teams. There are very few quality wins to be had, when the team in first place in late January isn’t even “receiving votes”, fewer teams in tourney this year = less future earning for conference. -
Mens Basketball: Ducks Win Massive Benchmark Game?
JabbaNoBargain replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think that’s a reflection of where college basketball is generally at. I have watched zero college hoops games (in their entirety) that didn’t involve the Ducks this year. ASU has also never drawn well for us. Turned a corner? Maybe, we were already in first place in late January, but I do think we can do some serious damage being at full strength. Looking more and more like we’d better do something crazy like only lose 1-2 more games, or we’ll have to win the pac tourney to get in. Arizona at this point looks like the only team that can get in without the auto-bid. Funny thing, OSU beating UA may end up costing the pac2 millions of dollars in future tourney units. -

Cool! Jan. 24th Jabbar Muhammad Update!

Coolio. I don’t get into the micro level with players much, but will make an exception in this case. Highly coveted player AND former UW player going to us would bring many purple tears to the world. -
Has the First Look at Broadcast Future Arrived?
JabbaNoBargain replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Interesting tech. Have to question the broad marketability though. We’re talking a group outing for a high-end, immersive TV experience, which is cool, but for how much $$? Would someone spend $100 (more?) to see the Ducks play a fancy TV broadcast, in LA? I could see this working for fights, anything that isn’t regional, or when you can’t get a ticket otherwise (if they had portable units they could locate near the big event you couldn’t get tickets too, such as the Super Bowl). Special events maybe, but regular season college football? -
Ducks Flying High: Updated Top 25 for 2024
JabbaNoBargain replied to criticalduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Definitely, I think the new Big12 has 6 teams ranked on that list, major grain of salt. As to UW, impossible to say for sure, but they were gutted. I’m sure Will Rogers is a fine qb, but we saw how well CU did with a roster of all transfers last year. I personally have UW’s ceiling at 7 wins. I’d say 6-6 is their over/under, barring a massive spring portal. -
Ducks Flying High: Updated Top 25 for 2024
JabbaNoBargain replied to criticalduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great to be the only relevant team in Oregon! As to our primary rival, I think UW was just a particularly bad matchup for us in 2023, their greatest strength against our greatest weakness, and it was just enough to squeak by us. Michigan also happened to have the best D in the country in 2023, sign stealing or otherwise. I don’t take any greater meaning from it. -
2024 Updated Heisman Odds: Transfer Portal Causes Big Shift
JabbaNoBargain replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
4-way tie for 10th, not really overly bold as a prediction. MC will get him injured making him run too much, Ward not exactly thick. -
Splitting hairs and it’s a game of relativity. One player going up can be because of another going down, doesn’t mean the player moving up magically improved…necessarily. I love having this info and the research that is available, but at a certain point all I care about is the macro. I don’t get attached to players until they actually play meaningful minutes anymore.

August Second Is Rapidly Approaching
JabbaNoBargain replied to Duckley Palace's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I’m not judging anyone’s choices, I’ve just gone the route of adding Sling Orange for 7 months a year the last few years, now I won’t have to…party on Garth! -

Idiocy of Conference Championship Games
JabbaNoBargain replied to Solar's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I agree, but I think going 16 or even staying 12 is enough. Most years if a team finishes at #24 we’ve seen enough. They’re probably 8-4 and it’s time to move on. -
Very hard to say, but given they struggled with WSU when they were at the very top of their game, there are some hilarious assumptions, that sound eerily like the rodents. Penciling in a 5-0 start is absurd. They will probably go 3-2 in their first 5 games, and on paper (as of today) I’d say 2-5 or 3-4 (at best) in the last 7. I’d put them at 4 to 6 wins.

And I can get rid of Sling in a mere 2 months, no more dealing with the PAC12 network is a positive. -
Which Former Pac-12 Teams Do You Want To Fail or Succeed?
JabbaNoBargain replied to Ktmguy2018's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Good one! Don’t wish them longterm failure necessarily, but would love to see OSU go about 6-6 (or worse) in year one. Many of their fans are so certain they’re going to roll over everyone (because they’ll be just as good but with a much weaker schedule) and make the playoff, all a part of their loyal, doing things the right way choice to form the PAC 2. Once they’ve settled into their MWC lifestyle in a couple years it wouldn’t offend me if they did okay at their level, lol. Want CU to fail. Those clowns were a completely irrelevant flop since joining the PAC and finally move the needle the last year of the conference….they can sit and spin. Made the conference weaker with their addition. ASU can sit and spin as well. Been hearing about the “sleeping giant” since the 70s. They were never a giant, let alone a sleeping giant. Wouldn’t mind seeing Utah and Arizona do well. The rest I’m pretty indifferent about. Those joining our conference we can control our destiny with, them sucking doesn’t help us much. CalFurd couldn’t care less. -

So How Good Was Jedd Fisch at Recruiting?
JabbaNoBargain replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think both OSU and Arizona stepped into a vacuum during a season that saw the conference getting too much credit overall nationally, but who I was to argue with everyone thinking the conference was awesome for once? OSU felt like “Penn State West” to me. Seriously, who in the conference was any good outside the top 2? Who did Arizona actually beat outside of OSU and an Oklahoma team without a ton of starters playing? They gave USC a run for their money, but in fact lost to a relatively terrible USC team. They looked good, and probably were pretty good at the end, but just about every team outside the top 4 had a disappointing season in conference. Both UA and OSU definitely stepped up and were solid, but I think they got a wee bit inflated. I realize in some way you could say the same thing about us. The difference is we man-handled most teams we played. Interesting that coaches of the #1 #3 and #4 teams all cashed in from a year the conference was finally perceived as strong, despite USC and UCLA being horrible. -

He got pretty lucky with a QB injury. Fun thing is we’re now spiritually bringing along OSU and Arizona to our new conference, just with different costumes lol -

Guess the semantics didn’t work out. That answer was totally shifty and conditional, definitely not emphatic
