  1. Of course Jon, the game is not what it once was. I never had more fun going to the games as a kid in the 70's, even when the Ducks were awful. The Bowl games meant something. I grew up watching the Buckeyes, Archie winning two Heisman's. Anthony Davis scoring 6 TD's for the Trojans against Notre Dame, and I'll never forget just standing around Autzen on the way to my seat watching Ricky Bell run all over the Ducks. Going to and watching the Ducks was so much fun back then, and nobody could follow them the way we can follow a team now. Yeah, Washington thinks it won a 'ship in 91. So that's a drawback to how it used to be. But it was just fine getting to the end of the season and finding out who No. 1 was,
  2. That did hurt when Johnny went to ASU, with what seemed like 10 other WR's.
  3. Like Washington, USC's media-fans are preoccupied with all things Oregon. to the degree that what they're getting at becomes fuzzy.
  4. SC is right in that Lanning needs some X's & O's masters on his staff to accompany the hard pushing recruiters. So far it doesn't look like Lanning will be doing Dillingham's job for him, so that's a positive sign.
  5. I think USC Wire might want to take another look at which team has the better coaching staff.
  6. Led by Will Richardson's 19 points and Nathan Bittle's best game, the Ducks end the non-conference part of the season with a win. Ducks Enter Break on a Winning Note GoDucks Rob Moseley
  7. With the inertia of the Pac-12. I wouldn't be surprised if the SEC gets SoFi locked up for their benefit.
  8. While we may have some doubts about the stability of the interim coach, according to this story by Ashton Pollard for On3, the team will be ready to play. Bryan McClendon evaluates how Oregon players are handling coaching change
  9. Absolutely. As it has been discussed, the Ducks would be in great shape if they were at home playing Portland State instead of this "Neutral" game against Georgia. But, like it was against OH. ST., the Ducks have nothing to lose in this one. Georgia could be the defending Champ. At the very least, a final 4 team. Meanwhile, I'm sure that Lanning will have the Ducks fired up to take down his former team!
  10. Jon, as you just indicated. It isn't hard to spotlight where Larry and now GK, have dropped the ball as far as putting the Pac-12 in the best light possible. It's bad enough that Pac-12 After Dark is a joke. SOFI Stadium in Inglewood is the showcase of football Stadiums. GK needs to do whatever it takes to make it the Prime location for a Pac-12 team to play for regular season OOC games, and by now, let the CFP have the Rose Bowl. If the Pac-12 Champ isn't in the Final Four, it should play in the SOFI Bowl.
  11. It was so refreshing to say goodbye to Horton-ball last season, it almost didn't matter how well they played. But they played very well, and despite losing some key players, look to be ready to have PK Park, along with The Jane, rockin' this spring!
  12. Travis Dye has earned his place in the OBD Hall of Fame. He's a player who I'll always be proud to say played at Oregon. But, while his rugged, never say Dye attitude is admirable. I don't see him having any shot at the NFL. We've all seen him get through the line, nothing but open field ahead of him. He puts into 2nd gear, and is caught in 6 yards. He isn't big enough or fast enough to get a spot on an NFL roster. Am I doing a McSham on Travis? CJ, had a great game against Ohio State. I believe he'd do well to come back in a new offense, hopefully play a full season and have a better chance in 2023.
  13. Coming off their best performance of the season against No.1 Baylor, Oregon needs to play the same game against the Waves.
  14. One thing that is unescapable is the media edge that USC has, not only over Oregon. But as far as hype goes, SC has no equal. Helton was dismal enough that the buzz was silenced. But ever since Riley was announced as coach at USC, the BUZZ is back! I'm sure there are some fans of the Trojans like we all are of the Ducks. But the majority of the buzz is created by fans being drawn to the spotlight, and the SoCal kids who now will think it's cool to be a Trojan again.
  15. I think maybe slightly lower recruiting rankings mixed with much higher development of the recruits once they're playing is the ticket to the Natty. Cristobal showed what it takes to recruit to Oregon and Lanning looks to have the energy and desire to get it done too.
  16. This recruiting class won't have Oregon in the Top 10, and with the schedule and the new coach, new QB, new OC, new DC, and the complete overhaul those changes will bring, Oregon might not win the North. I'm fine with that. Time for something new. Even if the record plays fine after 4 years, listening to the same old songs gets old, Time to put the vinyl back in the rack and download the new hits. DL and his band will have some new hits, hopefully bouncier, faster tempo, and it will be great to not know exactly what we'll hear next!
  17. It's now c;lear that Mario was "Off to Miami" with 3 games left in the season.
  18. Touchdown! Nick Saban has earned the right to be content where he is. Every other coach needs to have the drive to move up. In every job interview the employer will ask, "Where do you see yourself in a couple of years?" If you answer, if you don't answer that you want to be on the other side of the desk by then, you're out the door.
  19. Right. I can't think of the guy's name, but the host of the radio show I was listening to a couple of years ago was touting this guy as a genius. He came on and through the interview let us in on his secret: "The Teams with the most talent and the best coaching will win the most games" Brilliant! The talent that Alabama assembles on a regular basis, to go with Saban's coaching is why they are a dynasty. But all 5*'s aren't even the same. I don't have a clear example in football right now, but the 5* star Big on Gonzaga, Chet Holmgren is a 10* compared to Oregon's 5*, Nathan Bittle. Bittle has talent and could develop into a fantastic player, but Holmgren is an NBA Lottery pick today.
  20. It was all quiet at the Forum last night, until we heard about Bo! In his article for Ducks Wire, Zachary Neel gives his Opinion: The Bo Nix Transfer Brings very Little Downside for Ty Thompson and the Oregon Ducks' QB Room
  21. They certainly are, the ***** are for the fans, as useless as McSham's player evals are for the NFL Draft. Jeff Maehl wasn't a 5* but he certainly played like one.
  22. Jeremy Asher, Rich Ruhl, and on the offensive side, Cristin McLemore, and a Ducks QB who definitely doesn't get enough credit, Danny O'Neil. The Pick is rightly about Kenny Wheaton. But the 98 yard drive, orchestrated by O'Neil is one of the most important in Oregon football.
