Marsh Power Rankings (week 5)
Definitely a high quality QB is needed, but the Beavs this year are the perfect fit for a game manager. Nolan left after throwing 5 INT's in the last 5 and a half quarters played. If he'd only thrown 3 instead of 4, the Beavs very likely beat USC.

Marsh Power Rankings (week 5)
David, I give your rankings an A because it's exactly how mine would look. I'd like to flip OSU and Cal, but the QB situation for the Beavs is so bad that Stanford will probably end up with more points at 11:45 Saturday night.

Marsh Power Rankings (week 5)
Right, and what they've needed to that is play, Rice, Stanford, Fresno State, Oregon State and ASU.

Are Penalties Really a Problem?
Yes, to your question, penalties are a problem In this case they prevented a blow out, not a win, but that needs to get cleaned up. They didn't get hit for lining up offsides which is unforgiveable, but false starts and personal fouls ae unacceptable. A great run not only taken away, but the team loses yards are killers to an offense and to the defense if a stop is nullified by a flag, after a while huddles become uncomfortable. When a team wants to dominate a game, it can't be giving the opponent breaks with penalties.

AP & Coaches Polls...Look at the Comparison
Now remember, betting on football games is for entertainment only, not an investment plan. I'm all in on the USC parlay, the Trojans are going down...against WSU this week and at Utah next week. If OSU had just thrown 3 INT's, they beat USC. WSU's offense is much more potent than is OSU's. USC's D is big on TO's this season, but I didn't see them forcing the picks against the Beavs, and I don't think they will against the Cougs...and at Utah. I just think the Utes roll over them. Fight Off.

What Do You Think So Far?
I agree. But I'm going to believe that helps Oregon in this case. WSU was an impressive road win which should pay dividends later on. The pass defense was actually improved from the WAU game, all the penalties the Ducks accrued put a blemish on their performance. But throughout the game, it was great hearing the announcers go on and on about how lethal Oregon's offense was, and ii is. Since Georgia the only team to stop Oregon from scoring has been Oregon; take away the penalties from the Stanford game and it's close to EWU. I'm thinking that the lack of discipline is uppermost in Lanning's mind and will be dealt with.

Ducks vs Arizona: Game-Prep Article Thread
Scooby isn't playing at Arizona anymore, -11.5 seems like a reasonable starting point spread for a Monday.

Today's Football Games (not Oregon/Stanford) Discussion Thread
Tough two in a row for the Beavers, USC, then Utah on the road. Cal at WSU, Bears RB, Jaydn Ott ran for 274 yards last week against Arizona.

Stanford Duck Syndrome–It’s Worse Than You Think
You nailed it, Alan. Oregon has, 'The Pick', Stanford has their band running onto the field in the middle of play. It does encapsulate their place in sports perfectly though.

- Circa 2012: Lanning Replicates Bend-But-Don’t-Break Defense
Agreed. What I really want to see in the defense is that when it's 3rd and more than 4, the offense is getting the ball back. I don't know anything more debilitating, to the team and the fans, than when a 3rd and long is converted. The '85 Bears probably isn't going to materialize. But I loved it when I heard Lupoi use attack and havoc to describe the defense he would be coaching.- Bo Nix Gives Oregon’s Offense New Life
I wouldn't even say it was skepticism, I go with open minded. The Georgia came was awful. But instead of falling off a ledge he's had a three game span as good as any Duck QB has ever had. Perfect? Of course not. But I'm confident he'll respond with good play going forward. The WSU game hopefully galvanized the Ducks.- Stanford's Upgraded Offense: 'The Slow Mesh RPO' ?
I just think it's completely unfair for Stanford to evolve like this. It was bad enough when they came out with RB's running behind a huge line, they'd throw the ball to TE's and have giraffes for fade routes in the red zone. Now they actually have a passing game that will require the Ducks' secondary to cover the entire field for the whole game?- Celebrating with Your Teammates
It definitely shows unity. Yes, one player might make a play. but almost always it's because the 11 other players were doing their jobs and contributed. The whole team can be happy about it for a moment, then it's time for the next play.- Arizona State Football Coach Speculation Swirls Around Oregon Coordinator Kenny Dillingham
In coaching you don't want to follow the legend. I also don't think you want to step in while the smoke is still in the air. ASU is not the best opportunity that KD will see if he has success at Oregon. ASU is an interim job that should be laid on whoever was the last guy to get out the door.- Bo Nix Gives Oregon’s Offense New Life
Whoever this fool, 30Duck is left Bill Musgrave off his list. Maybe 16 for Nix.- Bo Nix Gives Oregon’s Offense New Life
Saying he builds on what he's shown this season, top 15, could go up or fall out. Mariota, Herbert, Fouts, Thomas, O'Neil, Smith, Ogburn, Dixon, Miller Adams, Masoli, Clemens, Van Brocklin, Berry, Nix.- A Fun Post to Lighten Up Your Day
Gracias, era muy bueno!- Would Oregon Fan Base Welcome Nix in 23?
Absolutely, I want Bo to stay. If he leaves, TT or Butterfield get the start by default.- Washington State Could Determine the Conference Champion?
Not sure about Utah, but I'd go WSU -6 against USC.- Marsh Pac-12 Power Rankings (Week 4)
The USC-Oregon State game was as strange a No.6 against unranked team I've ever seen. My constant thought watching it was that Carroll's Trojans would destroy this bunch Addison was efficient, 1 throw, i touchdown, but didn't seem to live up to the hype...which is pretty much this USC team overall. Four INT's. The Trojans had a part in this, Nolan didn't just throw all of them right to USC defenders, so credit the Trojans D some. But there is a disconnect when a team gets a +4 in TO differential and escapes with a win.- There Is More than One Way to Coug It
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, great piece of writing, Darren. I'll trade you my Husky loving cousins for your Coug faithful ones straight up, I'll even throw in the hollowed out refrigerator that adorns their front yard. The first quarter failures in the red zone were agonizing as Dilly was proving his insanity trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Agree completely that going for two must only be attempted after some nearly quantum level mechanics indicate that it's imperative to do so. In sports 1 point can be huge. This version of Cougin it will fester in Cougar fans for a long time. .- Beavs Looking Good and Draw First Blood
Four Ints, and the holding penalty too much for the Beavs. So, USC wins with its D, and because the Beavs couldn't tackle Caleb Williams.- Beavs Looking Good and Draw First Blood
I don't know if Colin Cowherd actually watches the games, but if he is, he shouldn't be happy about how this game is going. - Circa 2012: Lanning Replicates Bend-But-Don’t-Break Defense
