  1. This list is a microcosm of some of Oregon's issues this season... Close to half (fifteen) of the "missing" players are out with injuries... That has been a glaring problem all year. Three (count 'em, 3) opt outs... OK has ten , 4 on the D line alone! Four are in the portal or have already transferred to other programs. 2 players, Wilhoite and Greenfield have been away from the team all year. That's 22 players who might have been contributors... 2 others were never an option Who knows why Addison, Jackson, LaDuke, Aumavae, Laloulu, Shipley, or Williams have not been at practice? The only news here is that pretty much nothing has changed. Oregon winning this game would be a pretty impressive end to this season, even if it isn't Duck fans "DREAM FINISH"!
  2. Do I want the Ducks to win every game? After seeing the 12-0 performance a few seasons ago, I realize it's 'possible', but for all but a very few teams, unlikely. It's "lightning in a bottle". AB gave everything he had, occasionally exceeding his own limitations. I find it disappointing, to put it mildly, that coaches did not seize the chance to find how well the younger players might have navigated the waters of adversity when AB struggled mightily, at times. THAT, is not on AB. It sits solely on the shoulders and in the hands of the Oregon coaches, whether out of fear, denial, or pure, ornery, stubbornness. Grandpa owned a jackass when I was a kid. That cantankerous critter had a small corral, with a 10' wide creek (which, in the summer, might have been less than a foot deep), separating it from 70 acres of open, green, pasture. There was a well constructed, 12' wide bridge across that mighty body of water. The epitome of "mule headed" is th fact that the only way we could get him into the pasture was to hook his halter to the John Deere, and lead (or drag, if you will) 200 pounds of donkey to the other side. That is what I witnessed from MC lead Oregon coaches this season, in a nutshell.
  3. As nearly all these guys are, I would be looking at this as an opportunity to leave a positive final impression... "Look at this! See what we did, there!" It's one moment in the progression of their careers, but I would want it to be the best effort I/we could give. Put a gold star on your resume', guys! This could be a Wikipedia moment! Otherwise... You will forever be a DINO: Duck.In.Name.Only
  4. I have a friend in London, Oregon... It's a couple miles above the head of Cottage Grove Reservoir. He says they woke up to 13" of fresh snow and no power. Last time they lost power his family was without it for more than 10 days, Wish for a white Christmas? Be careful what you ask for!
  5. Thanks! That O was my grandson's Christmas present to his late uncle (My rabid Duck fan son), a couple year's ago. The snow definitely highlights the view!
  6. Snow in Dexter is minimal, but sticking.
  7. Funny... fuskies can't figure out how to make #Pay4Play work. Maybe they should change their mascot to "befuddled-skies"?
  8. My daughter's Lhasa-Poo spends a lot of time moping in front of the fireplace... The only time she's happy with the Christmas sweater is when the bacon comes out! The rest of the time. it's the stink eye!
  9. But... ONLY if you feel like it!
  10. The turkey is off the grill and we're headed to sit down with our gra dkids... Merry Christmas ducklings!
  11. Nate, at one point, was the heir apparent to the starting position prior to a pre-season knee injury. He had a history of knee surgery before initially joining the Ducks. The poor guy was cursed... The injuries eventually forced him to give up his dream of being a police officer. The football gods finally seem to be smiling on him.
  12. The biggest thing I remember about Brooks is FIRE... He brought a level of grit and intensity to the locker room that few Oregon coaches, if any, have shown since.
  13. Hey, justin...Justin.... we know Oregon is a vastly superior opportunity to what you have going on at Cal. How about ditching what you've built, hiring a completely new staff, and moving to the nice little bungalow well provide in the Whitaker neighborhood? Seriously, it's possible JW fell in love with the area when his Dad was a 49er...
  14. I still think there's some prevarication going on here. I may not be a corporate CEO level thinker, but growing up In a a family that was pretty successful in multiple business ventures, the idea of this offer doesn't make sense from a business perspective. Don't fool yourself. OREGON's brand of football is too big of a BUSINESS to to hurry the hiring process, and settle for mediocrity.
  15. The lost production and lost due to untimely penalties was awful to watch, especially over the last two seasoms.. It's one thing to get beat down in every phase of the game, the way Utah handled Oregon this year, and a completely different issue to snatch defeat from the jaws of what should have been a sure win due to poor discipline, and the resultant penalties.
  16. Tell, caoch..catch... What drew you to Oregon? "Have you looked at that Adidas, uh, stuff?" "C'mon, man!"
  17. I think Lanning would be well served by hiring a staff with the ability to change the very definition of "prevent offense". Oregon needs to 'prevent' opponents from believing they have any hope of staying in the game. Defense, especially the brand Lanning is used to. Needs to be supported by an offense that is powerful enough to put games out of reach, and keep it that way... CONSISTENTLY. The days of sitting on a slowly diminishing lead need to be gone for good. I can Dream, can't I?
  18. My grandfather got to Oregon , after growing up in Kentucky and Oklahom in the late 19th century by driving a herd of cattle (on horseback, no less) from around Stillwater to Bozeman, then bringing a herd of horses to the Willamette Valley, just before the turn of the century... He and his brothers liked the place so much, they never went back. It happens.
  19. "None of this means Lanning won’t succeed handsomely. He could. If he makes a great offensive coordinator hire — unlike Jimmy Lake at Washington — Oregon could be special." Ouch! Even the Toe-jam honks think UW under Leak, er, Lake, was a joke. "Even without any football games being played, Mike Bohn and Lincoln Riley have already reshaped the chessboard in West Coast football." Leave it to a Trojan to take credit for something that may well have developed without their influence. There is definitely a reason the games are played on the field, rather than a simulator! GO DUCKS!
