  1. Hate to say it... But it's kinda deserved at this point. If Brown hit dye when he was running out of the backfield that could have worked .. instead he came back to Dye too late and got nothing for it. More bad decisions.
  2. So apparently Washington is wearing retro uniforms this weekend. You wouldn't know it unless you were told. Feels like some lame marketing if you ask me. Also they are supposed to be uniforms honoring their 1991 "National Championship" ... You know the one they split before they actually played a game to crown a winner. Anyways ... I had a laugh at the Huskies. Especially since this is the year they lost to an FCS team, were demolished on the road by Michigan, and we're beaten by the Beavers. UCLA should give them a tough game. It may result in a Washington loss which would be pretty funny for them to lose in THOSE uniforms.
  3. He looked cautious against Arizona. The last snap he played he limped off the field but turned out to be fine... It looked more like one of those "oh crap" moments where something didn't feel right and he didn't want to risk it. Against Stanford towards the end of the game he was getting better push and eating double teams. He still didn't look quite as explosive. However, I'll say it may be due to more rust than anything else. Bring sidelined doesn't help, even expirenced players.
  4. I believe Cristobal's desire to win a national championship for Oregon is genuine. That isn't the case with every coach when or if they say it. 95% of schools don't even have make the playoff as one of their realistic goals. So maybe... Just maybe ... That Stanford loss hit Cristobal in a way that he is going to let everything fly and trust his players and staff that they will deliver. Oregon can still make the playoff ... At this moment I know that is theoretically true but it doesn't feel true. There is only one path to the playoff and it's win out. Easier said than done... But the team that played at Stanford won't make the playoff... Or even the Rose Bowl.
  5. Looks like they are last year's design of uniforms just in black.
  6. I really hope so... I'm ready to feel again. I've become very ambivalent towards Oregon after the Ohio state game. I have given them the benefit of the doubt for some time... Now I want to be proven right for some of my patience.
  7. I want a YELLOW Out! Big time highlighter yellow out! Sear your eyes out from the yellow! Oregon has unsual colors for nor just college sports but sports teams in general. Not a whole lot of teams use green, let alone yellow, and we are basically the only true duck mascot out there too. Bring me the bright yellow!
  8. I feel the USC problem for finding a fit is right now they want some star power and someone proven from the coaching world... However, the world of College Football hasn't seen a powerful USC for around 15 years now! USC is not a destination school it used to be, and USC is a hot mess whose name doesn't hold the weight it used to and they can't even reliably keep the best recruits from their back yard anymore. This has all been said a million times. The big factor that I think USC is running into right now is so many of the best coaches out there with the most rising success are in places that fit their personalities, which aren't big city LA personalities or colleges. A lot are mid-west coaches who fit their mid-west town. That doesn't mean they can't take over and have success in LA but the other question is... do they even want to move it? Is being the USC head coach a big enough of a draw for them in the first place? USC would be a great platform for them to rebuild and realistically have a shot at a National Championship. But failure results in being fired mid-season which makes the firing all the more embarrassing. For the record USC's last three Head Coaches were fired mid-season... Kiffin, Sark, and now Helton. At least being fired at the end of the season results in you leaving your job when everyone else is and you can talk about the difficulties of that season... getting fired midseason is the Athletic Director saying "You're bad at your job and we should have done this sooner but we can't wait to do it later... so .... BYE!"
  9. Have a link to that one? Sorry Charles don't know how I missed it : /
  10. Doralus said Friday is going to be different... I really hope he is right. Getting some players back on defense and offense can make all the difference. I want to believe we will see a dominant Oregon win... but my enthusiasm is tempered right now.
  11. He's also got Penn State heading in the right direction right now. 2020 was a bit of a stumble but again we shouldn't judge too much any team or coaching staff for 2020. Penn State was a rebuild and it looks like he has done it, or is doing it very well. He also made Vanderbilt respectable for a few years before Penn State. He would be a good hire for USC if it is determined that he fits the culture there. However, does he want a rebuild. USC is a rebuild no matter what anyone says.
  12. Maybe in a few years at best. I saw some of what is in those emails and it is all bad enough to make him toxic for any one to hire... Especially a college. Basically does any school want him around their campus? Would parents want their kids around him?
  13. This is what has been missing since the Fresno State game. KT was eating double teams all day against Stanford and still getting close to the QB, but not getting home. Get another solid pass rusher involved and you overload the line and someone gets home. Injuries have kept us from seeing what that front 7 can actually do. MC said today that we haven't seen what the front 7 can do yet because of players being dinged up. The linebackers haven't played as well because of the DL not getting the push they should... And then the back end of the defense getting burned more than they should because they there isn't enough pressure on the QB. We did see briefly in game 1 what this front 7 could do ... Let's just hope they can do it this Friday and beyond this season.
  14. Not a whole lot has changed on the depth chart ... Verdell is off it but that's expected. Depth charts are really only helpful for the first week of the year. After that if changes are being made we only find out at game time.
  15. He did get some play time this year and was injured which is why he hasn't been seen since.
  16. Looking forward to the second half when Swinson and KT are both able to play. I know the two play the same position but keeping that position with fresh legs goes a long way to keeping a pass rush. Also getting a lot of players back now.. both starters and back-ups which should start to stabilize Oregon's depth. I am predicting a slowish first half and a dominant second half. Giving players an opportunity to get comfortable. We should see an improved defense.
  17. I don't think Dye is a feature back. It feels like how initially in 2013 DAT was supposed to be the featured back with the departure of Barner. That didn't work out too well... DAT was injured through a non-contact injury and Marshall and Tyner took over from that point. I think we will need to see Cardwell or Benson step up and start taking some snaps with some positive yardage. The hardest thing about this situation is that not all freshman are ready to play right away. Freeman and Dye were the last two to play as true freshman. Verdell was a redshirt freshman, LaMichael James was a redshirt freshman.
  18. Mariota first has to get healthy... He needs an offense that works for him... but I fear his time at Tenn has resulted in ruining his body and he is far more injury prone than when he first entered the NFL.
  19. Bye week after a loss doesn't help the fan base's interest.
  20. Sonny Dykes runs an air raid... if they want to keep that offense that would be a good hire. However, I have said it a million times now it feels like... the air raid doesn't win Conference Championships, let alone National Championships. It is an offense that allows schools with less resources and lesser recruits to compete and play spoiler. WSU did it with Leach, Dykes did it when he was at Cal. USC is doing it now and guess how many Conference Championships they have won with it so far? Yep... none... and they are a far cry from doing it again this year. Leavitt may be a good Head Coach or DC hire for USC though... however, they may need someone who wants to recruit more. USC doesn't typically require a power recruiter but going against Cristobal is though. Williams has done well at a few positions at USC but USC's roster may be highly ranked but it is an absolute mess. They have some good recruits in some places where in others they have some very bad recruits in others... namely the offensive line.
  21. The SEC does a lot to avoid the cannibalism by only having 8 conference games, at least from a final record perspective. Also the SEC has had some pretty down teams that have been punching bags for everyone in recent years. Vanderbilt and Missouri have been typically free wins for much of the conference. Arkansas and Kentucky have also been bad and good punching bags though those two teams have been fighting back and are both ranked this year. Mississippi State is basically the WSU of the SEC which is why Leach fits right in there.
  22. Well here we go again... here are my week 6 power rankings. 1. Arizona State (5-1) (3-0) - Arizona State remains undefeated in Pac-12 play after defeating Stanford. Right now they are certainly the team to beat in the South but they still have a couple of challenges left on the schedule, namely Utah coming up next. Utah seems to be getting themselves together and that might cause some problems for ASU. 2. Oregon (4-1) (1-1) - Oregon had a bad loss against Stanford and you take the context of that game with the injuries, Moorhead being in the hospital and everything else they were bound for a bad game that resulted in a loss. Oregon State lost last week to Washington State so Oregon really hasn't moved here but other teams have moved around them. It will be up to the Ducks to put on a show against Cal and show that they belong in the conversation. They still have a win against Ohio State which counts for something as we see what this team can be when things click. 3. Oregon State (4-2) (2-1) - Oregon State stumbled and lost a close game. This is still a good team that will bounce back and make a bowl game for the first time since 2013. They still have some big tests to come in Oregon and ASU later this year. 4. UCLA (4-2) (2-1) - UCLA and Oregon State look pretty close right now. Oregon is probably pretty close in this pack for that matter but we will just have to wait and see how and if the Ducks desperate themselves this Friday. UCLA is a good team and have a strong veteran core to the team. Would they beat the Beavers if they played tomorrow? Maybe, but I'm still higher on the Beavers right now. Also UCLA's win against LSU this year is looking worse by the week. 5. Utah (3-2) (2-0) - Utah is on the rise and they may very well yet topple the two Pac-12 South teams ahead of them this year. Utah is on the rise and will continue to improve this year. Utah probably stands a good shot against both UCLA and ASU when they meet this year. Don't sleep on Utah. 6. Washington State (3-3) (2-2) - This team is figuring themselves out a bit. Oregon State's defense played pretty bad that allowed them to stay in the game and eventually win it. With that said this team has four to five losses left on the schedule unless they kick it up another notch. They could make a bowl game but it will take some luck. They however, might beat Washington this year for the first time in a very long time. 7. Stanford (3-3) (2-2) - What to make of this Stanford team? Well they aren't that good but they have had their moments. They yet again have ruined the possibility of a perfect season for Oregon, with some help by the refs. They played Oregon at their lowest point so far in the season as mentioned above but have been destroyed by UCLA and ASU. 8. USC (3-3) (2-3) - This USC team is bad but dangerous. They may win a few more games and maybe even make a bowl game this year but that feels like a tall order at this point. They probably have two more wins on their schedule but they will need to upset someone to get a bowl game. This team has some talent but it is a long way from coming together, especially not in a year where they don't have an official head coach. This team is waiting for the season to be over. 9. Washington (2-3) (1-1) - Washington was idle this last week so my opinion of them hasn't really changed. This team has only beaten Arkansas State and Cal, neither of which are power houses. They need to prove themselves to move up this list. This week they play UCLA at home which gives them a chance to prove themselves. Though Washington is an awful team on the road so playing inside the comfort of their home stadium won't be too impressive if they eek out a win. 10. Cal (1-4) (0-2) - Cal is one of the three teams in the Pac-12 without a win against an FBS school, the other two are below. Cal had a bye and they are sitting at the bottom. They look slightly better than Colorado to date as they have a bit more offense but they still don't look good. 11. Colorado (1-4) (0-2) - Colorado sat idle this last week but they still haven't looked good this season. Again the defense looks decent but they don't have an offense. 12. Arizona (0-5) (0-2) - Arizona hung with UCLA for a half but with the injury to their new starting QB McCloud and being out for the season... this is probably where this team will remain. I thought this Arizona team might be able to steal a game maybe two from other bad Pac-12 teams but that looks less likely now.
