  1. I think that's a big reason here too ... Oregon is a lot of people's second team. They'll watch Oregon and consider themselves a fan, even if they don't have a strong connection other than... Oregon is cool ... Which it is. I think this forum gives us a little taste of that as we have people from all over who would consider themselves Oregon fans even if it's not their primary team.
  2. Makes pac-12 expansion a risky business. Again it is about growing the pie so everyone gets a bigger slice rather than just adding more slices. I do think USC is missing a generation of fans with USC having been "bad" for the better part of a decade. USC bad is most teams average, Oregon State would kill to have swapped records with them over the last ten years but USC hasn't won many fans over, especially kids.
  3. Alabama is the evil empire at this point. Oregon is the chippy (pun in intended) upstart that had the cool uniforms and cool offense. That has at a few points scared the eveil empire. And with Dad Lanning (not a typo he gives off serious dad vibes) leading the way, it really does feel like Oregon is going to challenge the blue bloods once again.
  4. Though I would think it would be nice to have the PAC absorb the big-12 I sorta doubt that is going to happen. Though doing a big move and adding basically a whole other conference would in some ways make more sense because it would enable the georgaphy to work better for scheduling and a good chunk of games. I wrote about how the Pac-12 is geographically isolated last week. Here's the article for those who haven't read it. If you disagree with my assessment I take no offense and would love the conversation. The Pac-12 is Geographically Isolated From the Rest of the College... FISHDUCK.COM Recently in a John Canzano Mailbag article, he was asked whether or not the Pac-12 should consider... Enjoy.
  5. Came across this... Yeah Cristobal paid big for his QB.
  6. What I absolutely love in all these pictures is that Dan Lanning is always looking like a goofy dad. Everyone else can be serious and cool... But not Lanning. He has a big grin on his face and isn't hiding the face that he is having a blast and doesn't care. . Can we just call him Dad Lanning?
  7. I think MC is an average game day coach. There are some nice wins to his name from his time at Oregon and when he was with FIU he had some good wins there as well when he was the head coach. He will have some success at Miami... but unless he learns how to get out of his own way and let his coaches really coach... a National Championship is not in the cards.
  8. Oops.. typo on my part there. I do recall typing PSU but it autocorrected to OSU.
  9. I said effectively the exact same thing with Joe Moorhead. I was convinced that Moorhead would want a power five job again and needed to keep his reputation as a strong offensive mind in tact. Now, Moorhead did improve the MC offense but it never seemed to get close to the offense that Moorhead created at OSU.
  10. He'll enjoy the Miami sun and handing the ball off to a RB who gains 2-3 yards after running into a defensive lineman. It's all good... by the sound of it we will get Moore so no tears here.
  11. I would say there is a real sense of looking to find solutions within the Oregon fan base over the Washington fan base as well... granted I think that mostly stems from the FishDuck community as other forums are pretty toxic in general. At least here we offer solutions... though I'm not sure how often we are listened to.
  12. I'm just going to drop this article link in here. Will Coach Locklyn Restore Oregon's Running Back Legacy? FISHDUCK.COM Oregon is a running back school and has produced some of the greats in both the college and the NFL... There is a real sense around the program right now that this is a continuation of the old ways at Oregon, which is a bit crazy to think about because there isn't a coach left from the original staff after trj Taggatt purge.
  13. It would be a massive get. I think as fans we are so used to not landing these recruits that we don't get our hopes up too much. I will say this... I'm feeling this class could have 2-3 5 star recruits in it.
  14. It is clear they haven't kept up with their Duck news. Granted, I tend to only read the Husky news that comes with the biggest side of tears.
  15. Multi sport works more muscle groups and makes a better athlete. However, in the age of NIL I would think we see fewer because the need to be really good at just one sport will generate more NIL money than being a multi sport athlete. Additionally, less precieved chance of injury. Granted I think multi sport athletes probably weather the injury bug better than single sport.
  16. Yeah.. the Huskies don't have a Yacht... they have a rowing team. They need to row!!!!
  17. I agree I thinking that DeBoer will get the Huskies back to a bowl game this year. The Huskies roster is still good but there in lies the problem. Their roster is still good... Now... But recruiting wise they have been failing and with the transfer portal they are also bleeding talent. So how good will this roster continue to be?
  18. Well in the era of the transfer portal it isn't entirely over even when they have inked their letter of intent and are on campus. So flipping is a real possibility... For anyone at any time.
  19. I think the coaches like some of the potential. I believe I read somewhere that Gill has been doing pretty good this summer at several camps. I think the size and physical parts are things coaches like that they really can't teach. In terms of technique and an understanding of scheme... That is stuff that can be worked on. He doesn't strike me as a day one contributor, at least not now, but he could grow into something greater.
  20. I'm also not sure how much summer time weather plays a role into recruiting. Oregon is known for rain and some cooler weather so the heat, and non humid heat at that, shouldn't really make players apprehensive about what it's like to live in Oregon. Beyond that all the indoor facilities for football now make is so that even when the weather is bad, even from excessive heat, they can still practice comfortably.
  21. At least it is a dry heat.... I'll take 98 degrees and dry over 90 degrees and humid.
  22. So many husky tears... But my tears are those of laughter.
  23. I do feel Butterfield has a better chance of starting some day over Thompson. Just from a physicality stand point Butterfield is a bigger guy whole Thompson still looks like he has a lot of filling out to do. At this point ... I think Nix starts this year. Butterfield gets next year and maybe the year after. Then Moore, assuming of course Oregon lands Moore. Thompson feels like he was recruited for an offense that doesn't exist at Oregon anymore. In much the same way like how Butterfield felt like he was recruited for an offense that didnt exsist when he reached Oregon. That is the biggest problem with coaching turnover. Some layers just don't translate to the new scheme.
  24. I wasn't aware that unlv has moved up in terms of their academics. It does open the door to them being more viable. Nevada University is interesting. I guess the only real answer to my question of where does the PAC expand into ... Nevada and that does feel great. Thanks for your post and great additional information on the two Nevada prospects NJDuck.
  25. I think Nevada is the state that is probably the best to expand into but the teams in Nevada just aren't good. As for San Diego... I feel that problably doesn't do much to expand revenue for the pac on the whole. The big California teams are already in the PAC and the bigger problem is that California is a pro sports state over college sports. As for Hawaii.... Again another potentially natural expansion but Hawaii is really far away and is expensive to get there. The university of Hawaii keeps going back and forth on their economic viability of their football team because of the travel costs. I also think Hawaii is kinda built into the pac-12 media bubble already with so many players going to PAC schools out of high school.
